Raider Application - Paladin (DPS/Healer/Tank) - Shimmar
« on: October 25, 2014, 07:23:40 pm »
Hello, Iron Edge!

Character: Shimmar
Armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/Kazzak/Shimmar/advanced
Class/Spec: Paladin (DPS/Healer/Tank)
Member Type: raider

Personal Info:

My name is Sam, I'm 18 and I'm from England (Lincolnshire). I'm currently working part time but looking for Full time work.

Class/Spec:

I've been Protection Paladin main spec since ToT hc progression because of how easy it was to have a Paladin tank rather than Monk. Before that I was Retribution mainspec at the start of MoP, and before MoP I was always Holy Paladin main spec with Retribution offspec.
I prefer to play Retribution in PvE because I enjoy the play-style of it more than Holy in PvE, and slightly more than Prot, though I do enjoy prot.
I play Holy Mainspec in PvP though, which is why i could easily transition back to Healing.
I'm 586 iL as Prot, 583 iL as Ret (not fully upgraded), and 572 iL as Holy (not fully upgraded)

Alts:

I have 2 Alliance PvP paladins and a PvP hunter at level 90 that I have played frequently throughout SoO.

Professions:

I have Jewelcrafting and Enchanting. I'm pretty sure I have most available Enchants as I've has enchanting since Wrath. JC I slacked in WotLK and even Cata, but I have the reputation to buy the TBC plans.

Raiding Experience:

14/14 SoO HC (pre 6.0)
11/13 ToT HC (pre SoO) (switched to protection)
7/16 MSV/HoF/ToeS HC (pre ToT) (switched to retribution)
8/8 DS HC (pre 5.0)
6/7 FL HC (pre DS)
2/13 BWD/BoT/To4W HC (pre FL)

11/12 ICC HC
2/5 ToGC
10/13 Ulduar
14/14 Naxx 10+25

Zul Aman Cleared
Gruul's Lair Cleared
Karazhan Cleared (Holy)

Previous Guilds:

Since coming to Kazzak during ToT:
Echo -> I was a raidleader for ToT when we got 10/13 HC and 11/14 HC in SoO. I left with Superslim and Salvartore because after the 2013 Christmas break, we struggled greatly to replenish the numbers, and when we did, they dropped again due to the people being unreliable and short attention span.
Order of Sargeras -> we joined this guild after leaving Echo behind. We were friends with an officer in order of sargeras, so it seemed fitting to go to that guild. We left recently because the atmosphere was just not what we were looking for, and even though it was farm content, I didn't feel this would be the guild I wanted to go through WoD with.

Availability:

Currently available all evenings unless there are special events.

Communication:

I have a working microphone and I'm happy to speak. I have TS3, use it quite frequently infact as a social chat on Alliance.

Computer / Connection:

I have stable internet and power over those who dare to drain it.
I do not lag unless my ISP is screwing me.
I rarely Disconnect.
Outside of raids I get around 100 FPS on good graphics.
Inside during boss fights on 25 man I would get 15-25 with the same graphics.

Addons/UI:

ElvUI for my UI
PowerAuraClassic to keep track of certain abilities (Sacred shield, Inquisition (gone)) and trinket procs.
DBM

That's about it for raiding.

Other Games:

SC2 occasionally
LoL
Diablo 3, though not so much anymore
CS:GO
Recently Archage as an off-thing.

Why Iron Edge?

I'm looking for a guild that isn't overly crowded and has a great atmosphere in raids and out of raids.
I see that you mention a good pvp side of your guild, which was also appealing as I do quite alot of PvP myself.
The raid times and days are great, and with only 2 raid days, I think I can safely say that you guys don't mess around as you ranked rather high on the realm for garrosh kill.
I also love the quakenet malarkey. Guildchat in the webbrowser. Genius.

What can I offer Iron Edge?

I'm not a Rager, so you can always count on me to keep the mood Positive.
I have alot of experience as a raider and when performing as a Tank, I can pay attention to almost everything that people are doing.
I commit fully when comfortable in a guild, and can become a key member of the guild.

Where did I hear about Iron Edge?

WoWprogress.

Last Words?

Death, is only the beginning. #quote

We could definitely use some more versatile paladins!

Could you give us a screenshot of your UI?

How do you stay up with current theorycrafting ect?

Also how do you feel about tanking main spec rather than dps?

I'm fine with tanking. As said, I've been tank mainspec since early ToT, so I'm happy to carry on as tank.

As for the theory crafting, at the start of the tier or when I spec change, I check most sources such as Icy-veins, Public forums (MMO, battle.net etc.), elitist-jerks, sometimes noxxic, but people tell me that noxxic isn't as good.
Check the armories of the paladins in the top guilds for gemming and enchanting because you know... they generally know what they're doing. :D
The ability prio isn't very hard to figure out as paladin though, so it doesn't take too much time to get use to.

That's good to hear. If it's not a problem, I'd like to hold on with the invite, as our hunter is a busy man, and is perfecting his application. I have no doubts about it, but I wouldn't want to be rude. It's bad enough I applied before he was ready.

By this u mean that you and your mates are applying as a group? That you won't accept if your mates doesn't get trial?

Yes. Though it wasn't made terribly clear in the application, before applying we contacted an Officer to find out whether there would be space should we apply as a "group". I understand this isn't an ideal situation for the recruiting guild and I would hate to waste your time, but I feel it is only right to wait until Salvartore's Application is fully assessed.

Decent application Decent experience, welcome aboard

Thank you.
