Raider Application - Rogue (DPS) - Shaolinbro
« on: May 10, 2018, 08:51:50 pm »
Hello, Iron Edge!

I am applying for the main raid.

Character: Shaolinbro
Armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/Kazzak/Shaolinbro/advanced
Class/Spec: Rogue (DPS)
Member Type: raider

Personal Info:

My name's Eric, I'm 22 years old and currently live in Germany.
I am a university student, currently finishing my bachelor's degree in financing.
I'm a very competitive but also social person, both IRL and in-game.
I enjoy improving myself, surrounded by people with similar mindsets.

Phoenixflame's dog is cute

Class/Spec:

Currently playing and learning subtlety.
I prefer playing that because of the depth and high skill-cap.

Playing mutilate for example makes me feel like I have too much free time, similar issue I had when maining my tank monk, I want to be able to push myself.

My gear for every spec is similar, I try to balance all of them so I can swap depending on what's needed. (Sub 954, Muti 954, Outlaw 949 - gear not optimized for Outlaw)

Sure.
The stats I go for (enchants, etc) obviously always depend on current state of my character in terms of sims.
The main focus of sub-rogue is Mastery, Versatility - since it's important to just amplify the finisher damage. Currently Crit is more important for me, as I don't have the legendary shoulders yet.

Priority for sub rogue is very difficult to lay out in a few words. But to keep it short, I want to use all my amplifications (Finality, Nightblade, Master of Subtlety, Nightstalker, Symbols of Death, Shadow Dance) as overlapped as possible to ensure a massive DfA.
This means keeping Nightblade up, preparing finality in advance (if possible), and trying to let SoD and DfA timers overlap 100% of the time to maximize damage rotation. (using Shadow Dance in 2nd half of DfA is also a neat trick to save 1 extra GCD for Shadowstrike)

Alts:

I have 2 relevant alts, that I used to progress previously.
Brewmaster Monk:  Shaolinbro-Ravencrest
Affliction Warlock:  Shaolinbrowl-Ravencrest (used for Coven only)

I used them to clear 9/11 Mythic Antorus. Then took a break.

Professions:

Herbalism, Alchemy.

Money. 2h Flasks. I'm a cheap dude.

Raiding Experience:

I never was a fan of raiding until Legion.
I was hardcore raiding in EN as an arms warrior, but hardcore was - well - at that point in time too much. It meant off-raid: Farming all materials for flasks/pots; and in-raid: Using everything up.
That was a 24/7 job I wasn't willing to take.

I got back to WoW with Antorus, I mained Tank monk, which made me help strategize a lot. I was a big asset for the raid in terms of strategizing - stayed after raids to talk to officers about my opinion, helped them get another view, and on every boss my improved tactic was implemented, which usually resulted in kills after a short period of time. (Progress on my monk shows progression on a weekly basis)
Since I knew how ranged/DoT-heavy Coven was, I geared a warlock for that particular fight.

Previous Guilds:

<no> - Ravencrest

The progress in the guild was fun, but it had one big draw-back.
Horrible environment. Elitist leaders. Forcing people to play certain roles.

For example, when gearing my WL I noticed how much fun I had compared to tanking, and I gave the officers 3-4 weeks in advance, asking them if I could possibly swap, because we had enough skilled tanks to deliver what I do, and I could still strategize on my WL for them.
Their response was very direct: Play tank monk or leave. - Well, their roster disbanded a week after I left.

Availability:

I'm usually available very often, especially at the evening/raid times.
I spend most of my time playing games.

When I have to prioritize RL I'm obviously telling officers about my change in situation, etc.

Communication:

I'm half 'murican - my English is good enough to rephrase messages so that others understand what I'm trying to say.

I do have a microphone and I do use it a lot, I am a vocal person, but quiet when I need to be.

Computer / Connection:

Above average computer and internet.

Fps: Stable 120-160 on setting 8. During big raids stable 60.

Ping: 18-28 ping in-game. Very stable German internetz

Addons/UI:

DBM. For ability timers.

ElvUI. Because I like my stuff organized.

WeakAuras. Because it's good. Externals, Bres, etc. etc.

Skada. I want to see who has the biggest D.
(I want to check how people died, why, what time intervals, etc.)

Exorsus. LootCouncil. Classic progression stuff.

Other Games:

osu! - mainly this. Fun. High skill cap.

League of Legends

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

MTGArena - Closed Beta

Overwatch

Why Iron Edge?

You have a picture of a cute dog on your application page.

Your environment seems welcoming, which is my current focus in a guild.

I want to progress and achieve cutting edge.

What can I offer Iron Edge?

- strategize a lot, try to find improvements in every way

- level alts just for the raids progress (as long as I have fun doing so)

- fun person, play a lot, am very community focused, which means I usually talk to people a lot

Where did I hear about Iron Edge?

wowprogress

Last Words?

I am aware that my rogue is currently not as geared as necessary.

I do put in a lot of time into my rogue, to learn, to improve, to optimize gear.

I hope to join, not to insantly join progress, but to be accepted in the progression raid if needed/possible. And also to be accepted as soon as my gear is considered good enough.

I also want to join in consideration of that - I don't want to take a month to be able to join a progression raid. My character is 110 for a week, and has already a good amount of gear. I'm putting in dedication, in hopes of feeling welcomed.

I also accept being locked in as a social for 1-2 weeks until I have proven to be a good asset for the raid.

Hi Shaolinbro!

You seem like you'd fit in really well with us. In fact, the amount of similarities you share with a guildy is almost suspicious..

However in our current state I don't see you raiding with us. You're unfortunately not going to be able to be competitive on Argus and the fight is extremely demanding on the DPS. We can reevaluate for BfA, but for now I won't be able to offer you more than a social spot.

Let me know what you decide!
