Title: [Crossrealm] Hopesfall, Undead Rogue, A-Team application
Post by: Skymunken on January 01, 2010, 09:29:31 pm
Personal Information

My name is Anders, I'm a 16 year old guy from Denmark. I'm currently attending high school on my first year. I've been playing World of Warcraft for about 5 years now dating all the way back to the closed beta before the launch of vanilla wow. I spend most of my time on WoW running heroics and farming consumables for raids, so I'm always available if needed for boost, quest helping, heroics or if benched for a raid I'm there in case I am needed. In real life I also like to spend my time with both friends and my girlfriend. When I'm not socialising I play guitar and listen to music in my room and just being relaxed.

Character Information

http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Outland&cn=Hopesfall

I play a rogue named Hopesfall on the server Outland-EU. I currently play combat (20/51/0), but I also have some gear to play as a mutilate rogue.

Previous raid experiance (Vanilla to WoTLK):
Back in vanilla I cleared: Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, AQ20 and a bit of AQ40
In The Burning Crusade I cleared: Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon, Serpentshire Caverns, Tempest Keep, Mount Hyjal and 7 bosses in Black Temple before WOTLK hit.
In WOTLK I have so far cleared: Naxxramas, Obsidian Sanctum (+3d on 10man), Malygos, 12 bosses in Ulduar (13 on 10man), Trials of the Crusader (Grand Crusader cleared on 10man, none on 25man) and 1 boss in Icecrown (4 killed on 10man).

My gear is pretty much the same in both Combat and Mutilate gear, and I am currently working on getting rid of my Grim Toll, which is a bit outdated.

Raiding

I can raid almost every day of the week, but as every person has, I two have real life commitmens as girlfriend, friends, but no sport at the moment as its the winter season. This doesn't affect my raiding at all though, so I'm available for anything WoW (or gaming) related when I get out of school but to be a bit more specific heres a quick schedule of my estimated playing times:

Mondays: 16:00-01:00
Tuesdays: 16:00-01:00
Wednesdays: 16:00-01:00
Thursdays: 16:00-01:00
Fridays: 16:00-01:00
Saturday: 12:00-07:00 (Whenever I really wake up, but its around that time)
Sundays: 12:00-07:00 (Same as above)

If I'm not online after school I will always be ready for raiding around 18-19:00ish.

Gaming (optional) and World Of Warcraft history

I started my "gaming" career with the oh so famous pokemon game back in like the first grade of school. Later then I have moved on to bigger games as Diablo 2 and Warcraft 1-3 which I have played almost all my life. I have also always been an advid fan of Counter-Strike 1,6 which I have attended several LAN-events while playing. Lately the last 5 years I've spend my life playing World of Warcraft, but also playing other games in between alongside finishing elementary school, and afterwards taking a year off to explore the world, but now I am back and ready to explore Azeroth (and Northrend) some more.

I started as an alliance rogue named Acechill back in vanilla wow on the server Ravencrest where I spend the first six months of my time leveling up to 60 (I was slow, I know). It took me some time to adapt to the game since it was the first MMO game I had ever tried, but I got a hang of it pretty fast. I joined up with a guild called Elysium and spend a couple of months clearing Molten Core and Blackwing Lair. Sadly Elysium died pretty quickly afterwards and soon after disbanded with the release of Naxxramas. I spend my next months casually running Stratholme and UBRS while sometimes coming on raids with my friends guild thus clearing AQ20 and I was lucky enough to come on a raid into AQ40 killing the three first bosses. A real life friend of mine peasuaded me to migrate to Haumarush but after doing that I quickly became bored of the servers community and called it quits there (My gnome is still rotting there).

A month after Burning Crusade shipped I leveled up an orc shaman named Sarcafius on Darksorrow, but by the time I hit 70 the community there was dead again so once again I called it for a month. I returned to the game in the middle of 2007 where I leveled up a rogue named Hopesfall on the server Outland. Here I have been playing for the past 2½ years now in the guild High Infidelity. Quickly after joining we cleared our way through Kharazhan, Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon's Lair. We hit a brick wall in Serpenshire Caverns and Tempest Keep for a month or two but finally managed to get through. I had a break for a month again due to exams that school year and I came back to find the guild having cleared almost all of Mount Hyjal and also good going in Black Temple so I picked it up and got carried for a couple of weeks, but after that I quickly returned to the top of the damage meter (Tihi). We again hit a brick wall and never got further than past Reliquary of Souls, so we decided to call it till Wrath of the Lich King came out.

During the first half year Wrath of the Lich King we quickly cleared all of Naxxramas, Obisidian Sanctum and Malygos, but we sort of grew bored of the trivial content and struggled filling raids till Ulduar came out, but by the time we the Ulduar patch came out we had still not fully recovered from all the people quitting on us, so we had a hard time getting through Ulduar ending up not getting neither Yogg-Saron nor Aglalon down on 25man. Then the day came and Trial of the Crusader hit and we swiftly cleared 25man normal mode, yet again hitting a brick wall in Trial of the Grand Crusader, ending up only clearing it on 10man. Now we are struggling to get through Icecrown Citadel only having killed 1 boss on 25man during the first 4 weeks of its release.

Why do you want to join Iron Edge?

Iron Edge seems like a very nice guild to me. It has perfect raiding times suiting me and I have also heard good things about the guild from other friends (both ingame, but also in real life) who talks about you guys. I have never really following you guys, but I've been looking through your forums the past couple of days and the community (both guild and the few outside the guild) is one of the most beautiful (I was really touched) communities out there in virtual space. I have for a long time wanted to join a top notch guild to prove what I am capable raiding with the elite of World of Warcraft (obviously being you guys).

What can I offer to Iron Edge?

I am a very dedicated and skilled player. As explained above I spend much time on playing World of Warcraft and you can say I put pride into always showing up for raids fully prepared with consumables and knowledge of the boss encounters.I am a very friendly and social player as well, I can take jokes and I also know how to dish them out (Though most of my jokes are bad). When raiding I speak my mind if requested and I keep my focus on the boss encounter even on wipe raids where I keep my spirits high and always try keep others high as well. I take critisism very good and I listen to it so that I can improve my gameplay and hopefully help the guild achieve a new boss kill.

Last words?

I would like to thank you for reading through my application. If you have any questions you can come see me on Outland or write a PM to me via the forums or email (My email is listed in my profile info) or simply leave a message here and I will visit you on Dunemaul/answer it in the thread.

I hope to hear from you soon.

   Kind regards
   Hopesfall of Outland

Great app mate! Shame you are Danish!

It really makes me feel old to find out that kids have been gaming since they were... what, 6? Back when I was 6 we had to program our own games in BASIC...

I need to discuss things with Devlin before I can consider your application. We currently have 3 raiding rogues (which means we're full), but I think we'll drop one of those. If Devlin wants a spot, it's his... if not, then I will come and look at your application again :)

You forgot armory link.. also are you sure dropping 4/5 tier 9 to get offset pieces is better DPS wise than the gain from offset pieces? And planning on dropping mining for something actually good?

http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Outland&n=Hopesfall

this guys armory link apparently

Ah damn, I knew I missed something when I posted it, I am terribly sorry.

I am not sure at the moment whether to keep 4pc t9 or to go with offpieces. I've been running it through spreadsheets, which gives me results that are different from ingame information, so I will have to run som tests on some dummies to make absolutely sure.

And yes, I am currently working on getting stuff together to level up jewelcrafting paired up with Engineering. But I pref grinding the mats instead of wasting tons of gold on the auction house when I already have the profession.

Are you willing to stay Combat for the 4% physical damage buff?

I am quite willingly staying Combat for the 4% buff anytime if the guild requested it. I play to help the guild as a whole, not just looking at my own numbers.

@Blackwhale: No we actually don't spend much time on writing essays, I don't know why :o

@Aleandro: In Denmark you start your first year of what would be the same as high school in other countries right about when you turn 16 and you stay there for three years.

Hello again,

Would just drop a quick note saying I'm almost done leveling up Jewelcrafting. I also ran through the 4/5 t9 items vs. my offpieces on a completely new spreadsheet (found out the reason for false results) and my offpieces did come out win by about 100 dps.

EDIT: Also did a slight adjustment to my available raid times, it kinda reflected that I would alt+f4 at 24:00 exactly which isnt the case. I'll stay on raid even past 24:00 if needed.

Heya,

So the rogue we have in-guild isn't returning, which means I'm able to recruit a triallist.

As you can see, another rogue app just came in, so this one will be down to Ale (and the DPSers), because I'm not going to choose between you both :P

Heya,

Ale's currently too busy to make the decision, so it falls to me.

Could you migrate and attend tomorrow's raid at 19:30?

I'll probably bring you in for TOGC25 -- but not for Putricide.

I will try see if the migration timer thing will let me get over for tomorrow afternoon, but I can't promise anything.

quick edit: I'm saved to ICC25 and ICC10 as well (though your intentions were not to bring me there I presume) since my current guild is progressing through it. But I will keep away from ToC25 and everything else.
