The Brug! - Dps Death Knight A-Raid Application
« on: February 09, 2010, 12:47:11 am »
Personal Information

Hello, my name is Jan Hansen. I'm 17 years old (18 soon-ish though);D
I am from the Faroe Islands, Tórshavn. Currently I am unemployed and not going to school. So my availability is quite good for raiding and WoW in general.
Seeing as all my time is spare time, I like to use it for getting drunk, gaming and I'm a bit addicted to movies!

Character Information
I've been playing unholy on this character since ~mid 3.2 and quite enjoyed it. I have tried out dual-wield frost before, aswell as blood.
I prefer unholy over the other specs. I keep Bloodvenom Blade and Frostblade Hatchet lying around should the need arise for that cute haste buff though.
And then there is the armory link: zhe Brug!
My offspec is currently for the occasional pvp I do, but it is ever changing.

Raiding
As I said, I don't have any regular things to do and waaay to much spare time. :D

More specific times:

Mondays: Can always fit it in.
Tuesdays: Can always fit it in.
Wednesdays: Can always fit it in.
Thursdays: Can always fit it in.
Fridays: Always available, I don't go out before it's getting really late.
Saturday: Same as friday!
Sundays: Always available!

Gaming (optional) and World Of Warcraft history:
I started playing back in TBC as a time killer exclusively, at the time I played on Hellscream and was leveling a hunter, never made it quite far actually.. I made it to level 12 or 13 before I heard some off my friends were playing here on Dunemaul.
So I deleted my character and made a new hunter here, I leveled together with a friend and we made it to level 38 and we grew tired of it. So I quit playing and forgot about WoW until I first saw the WotLK trailer! It made me excited so I decided to come back!

I rolled a mage on the Draenor server and made it to level 60 before the release of WotLK. When the expansion then hit, I tried to make a death knight back on Dunemaul for fun, and I fell in love with it as soon as I got my first quest handed to me!
I leveled him to 80 on Dunemaul but grew tired of the non-newb friendly enviroment.
So in april '09 I migrated to Draenor and started pugging Obsidian Sanctum and Naxxramas.

Eventually I joined a guild, it was called 'Óne', it was dedicated to prepare and raid Ulduar. When Ulduar was released we managed to get the Siege quarter, the Antechamber and Hodir down on 10 man. On 25 man we cleared the Siege, Kologarn and Auriaya. The guild disbanded when the majority of the officers just left the guild, never really knew why they did.
I left a few hours later after that happened and started guild hunting.

At one point I found Nothing Else Matters, wich you can see I currently still am a member of. With them I cleared out Ulduar 10 man. With the release of 3.2 though, the already very small interest in Ulduar 25 dissipated completely.

Why do you want to join Iron Edge?

Well, 1.) I miss Dunemaul! :o
And secondly, I would like to join a guild wich has a heavier emphasis on 25 content rather then 10 man, and of course with an interest in hard / heroic modes.
You all seem like a fun bunch who are serious in an unserious way! (Don't know a better way to put it)
You have been up and running for a long time, and I hope to join to be part of that. ;D

What can I offer to Iron Edge?
I can offer you my butler, mechanic and my mailbox!
I always come prepared with flasks, own buff food and knowledge of the fight.
My progress in 25 man Grand Crusader is quite lacking I must admit, but have never been given the chance to go and I'd like to think I'd do a bit more then fine.
I always read up, watch videos and know as much information about the fight as I possibly can if I haven't done it before.

I had a quick chat with Intrinsic and he adviced me to switch a few points around in my spec. I tried it out in ICC 25, and I pulled 8.3k dps on Saurfang! (Never pestilenced!)

Last words?
Cake is yummy! And so is pie!

They all just happen to play WoW, on the same server, and eventually apply to the same guild. So your 'pool of subjects' is skewed a little :D

In general, Faroese kids are just as stupid as from other nations, if not worse, given that still 90% of the country believe in the God of the Bible :p

And to get on topic; Good luck kiddo, hope you get in :)

So you're still on Draenor, eh? Regardless of if you get into the guild, you should still migrate imo!

There are lots of smart people that believe in God...!

As you know, it takes significant faith to believe in God OR no God.

Evolution isn't some easy way out of the whole God/no God debate, you should know that :P

Oehhhh religion!

As you know, it takes significant faith to believe in God OR no God.

It does not? One uses empirical evidence to support it's "faith", the other... blind trust, indoctrination, dumbness, a fairy tail in the form of a holy book or just a general sense of fear.

Or the best one, "because my parents also are catholic/muslim/jewish/etc....
I like those ones best.

Thankfully not all or we would still be living on a flat earth and the use of condoms would be prohibited etc etc.

Wouldn't it make sense that Earth was flat?
I mean, if it was round surely all the water would go to the bottom! :D

It isn't mutually exclusive. Copernicus and Galileo were both catholics, Copernicus even being a priest or cleric. Also the belief of flat earth/no condoms etc. have nothing to do with one's faith in God or not. It is the church that fabricates shit like that.

Hehe... yes, indeed, almost every big thinker up until the last century was very religious. Not all, but most of the Enlightenment (for example).

Re: 'faith in no God' -- I mean, to believe that we humans are standing here right now, due to 4 billion years of evolution... is mind-shattering.

Seriously!

Sure, there is empirical evidence for it, but still, to believe that _everything_ around us comes from trial and error... amazing, and awe-inspiring.

To me it seems more likely than some omnipotent being that created/designed everything. Who designed him then? Did his omnipotence just pop from nothing.

The point of religion is not that it is hard to believe.

it is that it is a lot easier to believe than the scientific explanation.
