Bulletstorm

New shooter from the Painkiller guys, coproduced by Epic Games.

Basically a simple shooter, with the twist that you accumulate score points by how you execute enemies. Push them down a ledge ("Vertigo", +100), splatter them against a wall ("Graffiti", +50) etc... There are ~200 different kill moves, up to stuff like "Shoot exploding monsters in the butt" ("Assplosion"), attach mines to enemy but kill him before they explode ("Sadist"), or shoot away some guys balls and then kick his head off ("Mercy"). Well - you get the point.

For those points you can upgrade your weapons and buy ammunition. There's also a leash/grab weapon for some physics fun (leash enemies towards you, then kick/shoot, or rip them right into some environmental spikes).

Add to that a cheesy mercenary story and a heap of curse word dialogue. It's a lot of fun if you condescend to the game's level, as it doesn't take itself serious either, but the gameplay works quite well. Lotsa different weapons, and each has an even more powerful secondary overcharge mode.

While playing, I thought they should have made the new Duke Nukem this way. Earning points for humiliating enemies kinda fits.

It's ~7h long, I finished it over the weekend. So prob rather a rent.

Is it scary to go outside?
We are the preservers of the balance, now and forever, as Malfurion lies in the Dreaming. Never forget this.

1000 points = ?2.50 off the next game I buy... probably cost me more than that to actually get to the store, to buy a game I don't really want anyway.

Amazon > real world.

I prefer steam when it comes to games I can get on PC, and if only on console, I get my GF to pick it up on the way to my house.

This game would be freaking awesome 8h of gameplay if not the crap engine (on pc version). It's first game im getting constant random slideshows in (well, second, i could't run ultra details on metro 2033), and dosn't matter what kind of settings/resolution i set, dosnt even matter what happens on screen, random 1 sec freezes. Grr.

The moment it runs like it should its one of most entertaining fps games i played.

I downloaded it to give it a shot.  It's awesome!  Just bought it.

Getting no problems with stuttering or anything on the PC btw.   Suggest u sort out your pc.  It's using hte unreal engine, as do a lot of things, so it shouldn't really have any major issues.

I heard a lot about the PC version running unstable, too. It does not seem to be related to "fix your PC", apparently some serious issues if you change the game resolution from anything apart the (odd) standard settings.

Actually yeah, that's weird as they use the Unreal engine.
/shrug

Xbox360 runs flawless. But I assume PC version looks better due to resolution. If it runs on your system.
