Stop abusing apostrophe's, you are not even applying any rule's, just dotting them around some word's with s at the end and leaving them off some other's with no logic.

Is it replacing a letter (It's as in It is)? Is it signifying possession (Lotinja's post)?

Also, Eldar is plural on its own ("its" is a special case for possession and the apostrophe - mainly because it is always possible to tell by context. It's possible I threw in that sentence just for this demonstration).

Finished the single player campaign over the weekend (only Space Marines available, doh!).

The often-heard "diablo with squads" fits it quite well IMO. Not enough RTS for my taste, I prefer base building stuff. You pretty much just hop from support point to support point (where you can replenish your squads for free) the entire game. 80% of the campaign maps feel like random skirmishes, either "kill the boss in the top corner" or "defend this building".

It's still fun with a big "just one more level" factor thou, thanks to gearing up your squad, the presentation and 40k feeling. And hell, did Blizzard steal all their Starcraft stuff from Warhammer 40k...

If you enjoy base building, dow2 will let you down on that front.

But tbh base building in RTS games always seemed to essentially amount to a fixed process of buildings that to me kind of got in the way of actually playing the game. The part I enjoy about basebuilding was to build a cool base, but that was never really going to work if you wanted to actually win a game.

Overall I'm pretty glad there's finally a little bit of a slimmed down refined rts available in the form of dow2. 'Old-school' RTS is still well catered for (for now) with C&CRA3 as far as I understand.

It pretty much craps down on the concept or RTS, the point of it is watching multiple bases, oraganising simultanious assaults, managing resources optimally to win, making choices and sacrifices, and micro :P

dow2 brings it down to 'just' micro - and there is very little of it since you cant move anything less then a squad, and you have only 4.

From a "can i be pro at this game" aspect, this is pretty much crap, only cool to play the champaign and listen to the nicely done narration tbh.

You are very obviously talking only about the single player, no such squad cap exists on multiplayer. To have talked about the, "can I be a pro at this game" and only mention the singleplayer seems very silly. SP and MP in this are nearly two totally different games.

yeah, but it's large enough and games duration are such that you rarely run into that in any meaningful way

Wanted to refresh this thread.

They've recently re-worked the tier 1 units, now making them as powerful as Tier 3, and changing the general tactic of the entire game.

And, I wanted to remind people as to why Chaos should be the next race.
