the hair is looking pretty neat there, Kawe. A little tip though, for the rest of the drawing, watch out with using white as your highlights on anything but yellow (unless you are creating an extremely overexposed image, in which case everything will "go to white"). the boobies are pretty glaring ;)
The best way to go about shading is to choose the colour of your lightsource first, ie. yellow if it's a late summers day, almost blueish white if it's a full moon etc. You then highlight with your chosen lightsource-colour, and shade with the complementary colour (in yellow's case, purple). Also, the "transition" between light and shade will almost always be more saturated than the rest of the plane.

this is an invaluable tutorial, that I've found indispensable. I hope I made a little sense, and that I've helped just a wee bit :)

Nice tutorial. Any good books you could recommend of the same ilk? Love having books to reference :) Also means I can read 'em in bed, perfect for a sleepy fellow.

When you mentioned the overexposure, do you mean it should basically be all of the image or none?

Also, cheers for that little tidbit about complementary colours being used for shade, love learning useful little things like that :D

I'll do some less shit art and post it up. If I can dig them out, I'll post some A3 stuff I did with traditional media, which I guarantee won't offend your eyes as much as most of the trash I spew forth :)

Here's something I've excreted via photoshop just now, or rather, begun excreting.

C&C very welcome. Kelrathos' kind of reply is on a level of heroic to me :)

EDITagain... Fixing the misaligned mouth.. flipped the image and it's glaring at me  :-X

yes, the overexposure is pretty much an all-or-nothing. Mind you, these rules are all well and good, but the real hardcore artists (like Craig Mullins and even old masters like Rembrandt) break them on a daily basis. Us mere mortals though, do good to remember them every step of the way :)

Regarding books, I am slaving through this at the moment, for the 4th time. It is widely recognised as one of the easiest (mind you, "easy" is complete nonsense in this case, at least to me :D) books on the subject of colour, and basic colour-theory. Add me to your msn (sgreulich@hotmail.com) and we can chat all night about this stuff. I am just as much of an aspiring artist as you, we may be able to learn from each other ;)

for now I gots to go, I'm off work, woohoo!

Ok guys. I tought that I should post this here too :P

So this is the cartoon saga or whatever that I have made called ''The Gayness''. It is about two guys fighting a sickness or whatever you call it called ''The Gayness''. The first three episodes are made in paint and made in my.... younger days. So the english might suck a ... little much. But I guess it gets bether.

This is Part 1. The quality and sound and that sucks on this one but.. hey. :P

This is part 2. Still on paint and yeah.. Still a bit noobish ..

This is part 3. This one is a bit bether. Still on paint but. And there is unfortunately no subtitles on this one.

This is part 4. On this one I started to use flash. AND I got a bether mic.

This is part 5.

And this is part 6. I wont make a new one for a while now. Atleast not before Im lvl 70 or something.

It is a bit intern humour going around some places. But I hope u enjoy it. Cake.

I like the shading you used to add emphasis to the subject of your piece.

What was the inspiration behind it?

I've put my pass in irc a few times.  Dual monitors ftw.  I'm always extra careful that WoW is the active window when I login now :)

The eclipse itself was too dark to actually photograph, so I took this shot just before the actual eclipse.

You can see how the oncoming red eclipse tainted the moon a rather lovely pinkish colour.

Anyhoo, here it is:
