IE DOTA Tournament (or league?)
« on: August 15, 2008, 03:57:09 pm »
THE WIN/LOSS/DRAW TABLE
-----------------------

Let's make a DOTA tournament?!

We have enough players to make 4 teams I think...

Split the pros between the 4 teams.

Can make teams based on geographical region if you like...

Pros: (I use this term loosely...)
Kawe
Lotinja
Lestariol
Aleandro
Otori (could switch me and Oto, not sure.)

(1 per team.)

Above-Average:
Gerdi
Thoramon
Archz
Crazylock
Shardakan
Delling
Deidara

Below-Average:
Tyler
Palmar
Grilldyret
Father
Malik
Shiftey

Feeders:
Meeckah
Vorte (banned?)
Cwave
Ino
Grishnag

---

This leaves people like Grishnag (who doesn't play much? But might want to play?) Ponkoo who is not IE, but am sure he wants to play...

If you think my allocation is wrong, feel free to comment.

We would probably assign 4 team leaders, and then 'league mode' pick -- 1, 2, 2, 2, 2... Or just alternate pick, whatever people prefer.

So Delling takes Sapa, then next team leader can take 2 -- but only 1 pro, and 1 above average... next leader takes 1 pro, 1 above average... and so on.

We could either do a tournament (a small double-elimination?), or have some kind of long-running league.

Any ideas?

I think a league where everyone gets to fight eachother twice would be cool, the teams would have to agree on times they can play(off raid hours obviuosly).

Dota-league.com and such sites have rules about disconnects and such that we could use as inspiration.

A league with some kind of winner/trophy after a month or something... and then reset.

Ah, Zakk... and Inphy!

vacation  as in sitting around and doing nothing for 4 weeks

but yeah i want to play and it seems like fun

though what game mode we gonna play then? still sdns?

Would do weekends I guess... some pre-arranged time, as you have to get 2 games in really, per 'match'.

SDNS is fine, but we'd probably have to ban new heroes to keep games balanced.

Other choice is LMXL (league mode pick, with exclusions)

Or just APXL, as the dota-league site suggests, which might be fun for teams to build their 'pro setups' and shit.

-SDNS works, but you'd always have to play best outta three to decide each match. To prevent RNG to lose a game for you.

Weekends are definitely the way to go.

My suggestion is to simply select team captains and start building the teams.

I vote for apxl or lmxl and two games against every team
one as scourge one as sentinel.

With lmxl there would be no RNG.

And I would award points as in football. 3 for a win 1 for a draw 0 for a loss.(not sure if draws could happen with our rules.

Draw is when you win one game, lose another...!

Team leaders should be:

Delling
Lotinja (if he can make his sound work)
Lestariol
Kawe

If Grax/Sapa want to lead, they can take my spot. But no one's played with Grax in ages, so no one even knows what he sounds like...
