Samsung Galaxy S2 or Iphone 4S

Perhaps because I am a Mac user I'd say 4S..

The 4S is a solid upgrade compared its brother 4G, but not surprisingly as might expected.

The OS is much smoother, Siri (though beta) and the camera is quite good.

Iphone 4G ? Have i missed something

Hmmm, a friend has a Galaxy S2 and it is a great phone, but I would still suggest the iPhone. The apps for the phone is great, and altho the iPhone has a 1ghz processor compared to the samsungs 1.2ghz processor, it cannot be a deciding factor. Remember, iOS is developed for a very specific set of hardware that Apple defines and therefore the OS is optimised for the hardware. Android requires a faster processor to do the same thing because of the OS.

Based on benchmarks I have seen the iPhone beats the S2 but by a small margin.

In the end it is your choice, both are good phones. If you like to customize your phone, Android is the way. If you want an easy phone that 'just works' then go for the iPhone.

You mean all the apps that exist for iOS, Android and WP7 ?

a lot of apps are released for iOS before Android if they are even released for it. I find that the quality of apps on the Android market varies a lot. due to the vast number of screen resolutions and Android versions the market is rather fragmented. yes, Apple is extremely strict with their app policy, but this helps keep away the crappy apps.

Having to live with the Android market is the big downside of that platform. The Apple application and entertainment (video pods etc on iTunes) is just so much better. Personally, I don't involve brand politics in any of my technology purchases. I look for how I, in the most simple way, can get what I want from the device I'm looking to purchase, and when my criterias are met, I look for the bonuses.

I found that both platforms meet my criterias, but the Apple convenience and entertainment side is just so much better - in my opinion.

PS: I hope Android users get something like iMessage soon. Great quality of life feature, not having to use 3rd party programs for free texting and information sharing I laughed at it at first. Then the privacy issues with my info going through Apple servers annoyed me a bit. Then I realised that similar things happen with all my digital communication (really). Now it's great!

I would say that regardless of which you buy, whether you enjoy using it and the good things about it, or regret the things it doesn't do that the other does and focus on the bad things about it will be entirely up to you.
