Warhammer 40k (the board game one)
« on: March 12, 2008, 02:00:16 pm »
All!

I floated into game workshop today which was possibly the nerdiest thing i ever did to date to see about the whole game (since i love the PC stuff so much on 40k).

I wondered if anybody plays it or likes it? or any cool pointers? Yes I do like all aspects of the building, painting, playing and never done it before but sounds kinda relaxing and fun.

Cheers,

I was rather heavily into the fantasy variant...

And then sadly the friends I played with went through puberty and thought girls wouldn't find them attractive if they played Warhammer.

So my armies are sitting, boxed-up in a cupboard somewhere.

Never was heavily into the painting thing, but it was fun when I got around to it!
Now I run a tech website.

I used to really love 40k. Still do, but never find the time for it :(

And it can be very relaxing and fun, beats most any RTS going, for me at least.

I played Tyranids, originally with a slightly huge-monster weighted side which was really fun since back then it meant I had to play very carefully and make no mistakes, but was very hard to beat provided I did just that :)

Last time I played though I went with a melee swarm, which was a lot more simple fun, just throwing huge numbers of very fast, singularly weak units and mobbing enemies. Having to roll over a hundred dice in a single assault phase is somehow... satisfying :)

Also got right into the painting. Won a couple of store competitions doing it, netted some free stuff :D

Poke me on IRC if you want to chat about it, or vent, whatever.

I should still have some around, in the house. Dont know where.

Had the space orcs, which are fun. And Dark Templars space marines. But the hobby became a bit too expensive for me, and I dont really have time for it.

But I have the emporer! Which is sweet <3

i think some people might find it offensive that you call it a board game :)

anyway never realy played it but since Dawn of War came out i found it quite intersting ofcourse its nothing like the board game but still fun
