Just so you know, for some reason on these game playthrough videos, any time a sprite should appear as flickering quickly, it appears to just disappear. The actual games didn't do that when you played them (at least not on the NES, not sure if it's this guy's emulator or the recording software that's screwing up here).

Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu, a great platforming game on the NES I had totally forgotten about until now that I really loved, such a cool and fun platformer. Not to mention that the visuals and the audio were stunning for a NES game!

And another great NES game from my childhood...
Power Blade! This is another one with kickass chiptunes. Kind of a shame you don't get to hear that kind of music anymore, was a bit different. Perhaps some games will embrace them again sometime!

But yeah, Power Blade! 8 directions of attack, cool power ups, various difficulty levels, good graphics and great sound. NES had some awesome games.

I know, I'm spamming.. a THIRD NES game! In the screens you see here, it is labelled "Shadow of The Ninja", though the version for EU region, the one I played, was known as "Blue Shadow" (the Blue Shadow version had a much cooler logo too BTW).

It's a platformer with great chiptunes (you may be noticing a pattern...), some of my favourite of all I can remember. Of course, also features good gameplay involving acrobatic movement and various weapons. What you don't see in this video is that it is a CO-OP game, and that's how I played it. It also featured some cool special moves that you could do by both players inputting certain stuff simultaneously (great oh-shit moves, or for doing lots of damage to a boss). Speaking of bosses, it also had some really good ones - I mean, you get to play as two ninjas fighting a goddamn huge tank with a laser cannon. Really, a great fun game and pretty damn hard too. Don't let the pro player here fool you - he's probably went through the game a lot.

NOTE: I thought something was odd watching those videos of Shadow of the Ninja. The EU version, Blue Shadow, was actually faster than the American version (even the audio!), also ending up a little more difficult. Here's the first of 3 parts of someone playing through the EU version, Blue Shadow, so you can see the difference in speed.

Also, here's a nice video of some fellow performing tracks from Blue Shadow on guitar. Good bit of engrish in the vid description, "move tear and memory
热血 回忆 与 感动......" Give them a listen! :)

And for a change... a Master System title, Sagaia! Though there was a graphically superior and somewhat easier version available on the Mega Drive, the Master System version was the one I played. It's a punishing game where without a shield powerup, one hit from anything kills you... and strips you of all your weapons, making it very easy, especially later on in the game, to start haemorrhaging lives. Of course, the very fact you lose your weapons and shield after dying makes it harder to kill the enemies and stay alive long enough to pick up enough power ups again to regain your powers! As such, it's with pride I can say that I have completed sagaia on the master system.
Sagaia (known as Darius 2 in the US) is a sidescrolling shooter (think R Type) from the Darius series of games, created by Taito (who also made Blue Shadow/Shadow of The Ninja and Power Blade). I thought Taito were pretty big badasses at that time, due to these games. However, while there are a couple of catchy tunes in Sagaia, they're generally of a lower quality than those found in Blue Shadow, and nothing particularly memorable.

Aaaand a second Master System title, a Disney License of all things! Donald Duck - Lucky Dime Caper! This is a game that was extremely accomplished visually for an 8-bit console title, which you can see for yourself. The animations, sprites and backgrounds are all top-notch, although unfortunately the audio wasn't so great, but at least passable. The game itself was also enjoyable, and pretty challenging.

Since there are seven videos for this playthrough, I'll just link the remaining 6. Was a relatively big game!
