nostalgia anyone?

Oh its like that is it?

En garde!

Awesome soundtrack, brings back so many memories. I can't hear R.A.T.M. anymore without visualizing the tricks.

Recently i heard the following tune, on a Rigwarl video. It was such a strong memory, yet i couldn't remember where it was from! It drove me crazy for several hours, trying to remember why it seemed so familiar. Then in dawned...

And a few more (trying not to give away my age):

BEAT THAT!

Truly amazing work of art. I'd like to have that played on my funeral.

Also, I downloaded the Dire Dire Docks song from Super Mario 64 a few months back, still queue it up on Winamp at least once a day. I can still hear the swimming sound effects from that level in my head!

Golden Axe was one of those great series where each game was actually better than the last (not counting that bizarre arcade only one that was done, or the new Beast Rider game). They even put in genuine gameplay enhancements, like being able to use up a certain amount of magic instead of always blowing everything you had at once. GA3 added other cool stuff, like being able to cast special super-duper-mega-mixed magic when you played co-op, by having your characters face each other, then when they nodded at each other you both hit your magic button, and collect your awesome.

If you missed it, I did a text/video wall of NES based goodness here: http://xoops.iron-edge.co.uk/forum-new/index.php?topic=1631.msg53536#msg53536

For something more Master System, take a look at this:

Master of Darkness! Easily one of the best master system games, and the graphics and music were great for the system. Not to mention a wide variety of enemies including some horror classics (wax dolls coming to life, fighting jack the ripper, dracula, zombies, poltergeists...). It's also got something that gaming now is lacking, a proper gentlemen in a suit as the protaganist who runs around london kicking all kinds of supernatural ass.

To compare it with another game I had on the system which was at the absolute other end of the spectrum, and shows you what recycled content really means (perhaps someone now involved with blizzard worked on thsi game!), My Hero.

These 3 levels shown here are the entire content of the game (there are 17 more levels, but they're just repeats of the first 3 at increasing speeds. Really bad.

oh, master system sonic series: graphically inferior, but a much bigger challenge (aside from sonic chaos, odd one out of the series in a few ways). Though sonic3&Knuckles was far and away the best of the entire series (including every sonic game afterwards too :P)
