Apps you need:

- Foobar 2000 (I know how to set this up...): http://www.foobar2000.org/?page=Download
- Virtual Audio Cable: http://www.mininova.org/tor/1662782
- Ventrilo (well, duh!): http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php

Instructions:

1. Download and install Ventrilo!
2. Download and install Foobar 2k.
3. Download and install Virtual Audio Cable (IF YOU ARE USING VISTA 64 OF WINDOWS 7, SEE THE NOTE AT THE END!!)
4. Load f2k, add some songs.

5. Go into f2k, and then to File -> Preferences.  Find the Playback -> Output options.  Change the drop-down at the top to your VAC entry [it may be Line 1 (VAC), Mic 1 (VAC) or S/PDIF 1 (VAC)].  Click close.

6. Goto the vent setup and change the options so they look something like the following screenshot:

Take note of the following settings:
- PTT (top-left)
- Sensitivity (mid-left)
- Input device (mid-right)
- Hardware input mixer settigns (mid-right)

If you get a mux error, try setting the hardware mixer to (none).

7. Test that it's working by playing something on f2k (you wont hear anything), after having pressed the monitor button at the bottom-left of vent setup:

Now ur DJ'ing like a pro!  If this is on a server box somewhere, you don't need to read the rest.

To fix the glaring problems of not being able to speak and not being able to hear what you're playing, you need to use the audio repeater program (comes with VAC).  You'll get a setup something like the following:

1. To fix "I can't hear shit" run a copy of Audio Repeater and set it up as follows:

2. To fix "I can't say shit" run a copy of Audio Repeater and set it up as follows:

Remember to press 'Start'...

Notes:

- You will still get echo from people if YOU USE SPEAKERS LIKE A TARD.  Don't do the mic fix if you use them... fag.
- You will be able to hear your own voice through your speakers.  You can do a more extravagent VAC setup to fix this... if you can be arsed.
- If you use a mic, it will be constantly transmitting.  Try not to do anything untoward :P
- NO OTHER APP will send sound to vent, so feel free to play any games, wow, etc while dj'ing!!

Notes for Vista 64 and Windows 7 users:

You can't install VAC properly unless you set windows up in test mode, do to this you need to run a command prompt (cmd) with admin rights and type the following command:

bcdedit /set testsigning on

And reboot.  Before you install VAC.

Just a note on foobar.  It's got a handy features in the 'Playback' menu... "Playback follows cursor".  It allows u to select the next song that will play by simply selecting it, rather than relying on random play or a set order.
