Title: DoTA,TFT or WC3?

I've been looking for WC3:TFT for a while now, and none of the local shops has it/is willing to order it for me, so I had a chat with some friends of mine and one of them said that you don't need TFT in order to be able to play DoTA.
 I bought WC3 today, and now I'm just looking for someone that can confirm whether I really need to have TFT installed or not to play with you guys.

You need TFT, too.

Also, it's a *.w3x map which can only be played with the eXpansion.

If your local shops suck, can't you get it cheap on Amazon or eBay (only new though as you'll need a working cd key for battle.net)?
