Title: Resilience will affect DoT damage
Post by: Guanoape on July 11, 2007, 11:41:58 am
Quote
In the next major content patch, the combat rating, resilience, will also reduce the damage dealt by damage over time (DoT) effects. As it currently stands, each new tier of equipment adds to the amount of damage DoT abilities have, yet that damage is not mitigated through combat ratings found on typical equipment. This change will help ensure that DoT effects do not scale too well compared to other damage mechanics.

The amount of damage reduced will be equal to the critical chance reduction effect that resilience grants.

So, this sucks, but it's not that bad. 500 resilience is 12% damage reduction on dots, not that much :) If it goes on like this all the whiners on the forums will get their way though. Dots and Mortal Strike received the most whining, so we might see a MS nerf soon too?

While i dont like that the give in to the massive QQ, the higher grps in 2vs2 3vs3 have warlocks tanks and a paladin.
And are simply unkillable.
So this was to be expected.

Mortal strike is fisical damage and it is mitigated with armor, sadly we coundn't say the same for DoTs.

And clearly you miss the point about Mortal Strike
Its not the damage that is overpowered or anything

Its the healing debuff, which cant be dispelled
And makes it a "must" to bring a MS warrior in 5vs5 to be competitive.

As much as I agree u can say that for many other abilities that other classes have... MS warrior is not real threat if he is CCed nicely or not damaged at all (rage issue).

...
He is the bigest threat to the whole grp since he has the healing debuff.
Same with woundpoison, but that can be dispelled.

A MS warrior with WF is ... awesome.
Standard setup

MS warrior
Frost Mage
Shaman(WF)
Paladin(cleanse)
something...

So no CC on the warrior then :)

Cyclone is best way to CC MS warrior but I wouldn;t go deeper into matter since it can go far far away from the subject: Resilience vs Dots!

trinket grounding silence earthshock etc

If there is a druid in caster, he dies first anyway

No way in hell should you get cycloned

Anyway, onwards with the show!

Nope.
I'd say something along the lines of
"Rogues are built around CD's, but the CD's are broken"
or
"Rogues are built around stealth, yet every class gets so many ways to prevent us from staying in stealth"
Ooor the famous
"Rogues are built around burst and now with resilience, rogues are useless!"
...
"Rogues are built around stealth, yet druids get better stealth and tanking form and heals in tanking for + heals outside them + one of the best CC's in the game, I'm just gonna reroll"

If MS warrior wasn't awesome in arena groups, he wouldn't be awesome anywhere. Warriors are meant to excel at group pvp, sucking in 1v1 is the price paid for that.

On topic edit:
Resilience vs. dots = good. Levels playing field. Or rather, stops some specs basically 'bypassing' resilience, an expensive stat for use in pvp.

Last spot should be priest. Because they got offensive dispelling and mass dispel. That's win in 5v5, not to mention mana burn.

You're so far away from hitting the nail on its head here, Forker & Cwave.

5v5 is all about bringing 5 warlocks.
Because five warlocks equals five pets.
And that's like, an ADDITIONAL FIVE players.
So it's like 10v5, which clearly is ezmoad.

(based on a whinepost made by a Rouge in the official mage class forums)
That Rouge quit the game because he felt that WEs were so OP it was like fighting two players.

I'm so good that when you fight me, it's like getting your ass kicked by a raid of warriors.

Dot's are for wussies anyway.
