Looks fun.
Don't be shy to post a DL link here if it launches. :D

I like how they have planes flying along with soldiers just sitting on the wings.
-
But it's free!!!!!!!!!11.
...
Get TF2 :)

NO

this reminds me of TF2

Oh dear god this will be hilarious, give give!

I refrained from posting a reply on this topic for a few days to see if my cynicism regarding it would subside.
It didn't.
If ever I saw a more flagrantly blatant attempt to take marketshare from an existing game by shamelessly copying the visual on it, I cannot remember it.
Seems to me like EA have looked at TF2, thought, "hey, why is this game so successful? It has players who could belong to us. We need a shooting game to compete with it... hang on, we already have shooting games, it must be something else... wait! I have it! It's not the stunning balance, class individuality or years and years of development time, it has to be the cartoon stylings! Quick, someone reskin and simplify one of our battlefield games. Wartime one please, that soldier in TF2 is pretty cool."
Ahhh... that's better.

That doesn't mean it will be bad :)

I do agree that this is really just a blatant attempt at taking back players from TF2, but I don't really care. If it's fun to play, I'll play it, if it isn't I won't. Quite simple, I don't play games to suit the developers or be offended by how market wars work.

Well some games just don't do it good enough the first, second or even third time around. Look at Dark Age of Camelot and compare it to World of Warcraft. I'm not saying it will be a success but I'm sure it will have more players - as it's free and all.
People like me for example. I no longer wish to pay for a FPS game, after playing Counter-strike, Call of Duty, Quake and Unreal several years online and on LAN:s. To me the new games just feel like the old one with new graphics pretty much.
I'll try this game as I try most games even if I do it offline like I did with Call of Duty 4, Crysis and such. Cool ideas but just doesnt feel very fun at the end of the day, same style, different story. This game could feel the same of course but it might not.
I'm sure TF2 is a great game but I've played Team Fortress, Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike Source and Valve does not impress me anymore with one exception called Portal.

Free games have more players?
Eh?
Guild Wars vs. WoW?
-
You have to buy guildwars still and it's still not good in comparison. :)
I'm talking about if a game is close to as good as each other and one is free. The thing about Battlefield heroes is that I for example can play this game with all my friends without any real effort. No one needs to buy anything, we can just start right away. Just like Enemy Terriritory wihch is a great game and had a pretty wide player base back because it was free.
I played GW but I didnt like it for one reason. You can't jump! Drives me crazy, no joke.
Then I'm convinced that if this game sucks compared to lets say TF2 people will probably swap after trying this game out.
@ Kawe Cartoon graphics is nothing new for a FPS game. Ever played Outlaws? :)

I like it mainly cause it looks hilarious, soldiers sitting on airplane wings and shooting... even while airplane is up-side-down ::)
Gestures and animations in general look really funny, I guess many of us will play it to relax after raid or whatever. As someone said I don't give a damn if its out to steal some of CoD4 players, if its enjoyable I don't see any problems with it:)
