So...
Got a random mail today, containing 1000g.
(Actually didn't mouse-over the gold in the screenshot... my bad... but it was a 1000g, I assure you)
Ticketed a GM, as I didn't want to 'steal' any gold that wasn't meant for me.
He told me it wasn't from a guildmate... and it was most likely a gold seller...
But I haven't bought any gold...
Anyway... here's the screenshot :)

Ye you need to be actualy carefull with this.. I know a real life friend that play alliance "Wierd guy" he hated a guy so much ingame that he bouth some gold from a site to the "enemys" account.. Then posted a ticket to a GM that he was buying gold etc and hes account got locked.

i think they just did it del... but you have already informed gm about the issue which is a more clever move!
ah when i got hacked i found 4k extra on my acount including some mats gems etc...
i reported those to gms but when the investigation completed they didn't take those back + sent all of my items (which is more than 200)
anyways just in case inform a gm and smile ;D

Probably the most clever thing to do, instead of just blindly thinking "Oh cool!"... I guess it's either some goldseller fucking up, or someone actually trying to pull that "buy-gold-for-someone-to-get-them-banned" scam.

Well I spoke to a GM a second time, just to reassure them that I hadn't bought gold...
And they said 'Well, if you haven't done anything wrong, then you have nothing to worry about.'
Having said that, they must have no way of telling if I've bought gold or not...
But hey, it's only 1000 gold. It makes me warm to think someone maybe spent 10 euros to get me locked out...

I assume Blizzard takes some things into consideration when handling gold buyers.
- you contacted them about it
- you received 1k
- this apparently is the first time that happened to your account
- you own the account for some years
- as the GM of the server's top guild you have unlimited access to 100+k gold. Yeah, so it makes absolute sense to buy 1000g....

i remember when i was buying runecloth for 1g20s and delling sent me 20 rune for 120gold :( thankfully i spotted that one but not one before... i phail and clicking.
