so yeah me and a couple of friends decided to finaly start playing some warhammer 40k its a game not a computer game but a game still :)
anyway i gonna start as tyranids but god damn those things are tiny very tiny
and i suck at painting at that... ah well they still look awesome
but regardless give some tips/tricks on how to play and stuff
-
I played my first game ever as tyranids. I beat the guy who was showing me how to play! It was my only ever game.
-
I bought Abaddon and a unit of Chaos Terminators. They were the most awesome-looking models EVER.
EVER!
I have never played, though! I had such a huge Fantasy army (10,000 OLD points, so... yes, large) that I didn`t really want to get into another `model grind` :)
I think the rules changed a few times since I watched other people play. Learn to roll lots of 6s, that`s for sure.

I used to play 40k myself. But it's a bit of an expensive hobby for my taste. I have an army of Dark Templars (space marine) with the Emperor + some terminators.
But I geuss tyranids are a good army to start with, they're not that hard to paint really. Try youtubing some movies on how to paint them.

maybe not hard to paint but there are freaking many of em
and yeah i knew it was a expensive hobby before i began with it just seems like a realy fun hobby though

I had a 6k points Chaos Army for 60k where... Close to everything was made in the metal thingie (can't come up with the proper name for it)... I am quite an esthetic person IRL, so I bought 3-4 models alot to synch them into 1 cool looking regular marine xP
I even remember buying Warhammer Fantasy Chaos models in tin (I remembered the word for it now!) just because they had cooler axes, cut them off and used them on my 40k, and also glueing all sorts of 40k crap on my fantasy models to make them valid for 40k...
But yeah, it's pro shit! Gl.

Modding models could make for some large win. I remember putting an old hive tyrant metal venom cannon onto a termagant, I think in 2nd or 3rd edition, when they allowed you to do that provided it was shown on the model. I ended up having to use a larger base, and then sticking a rock (well, a stone, but given the scale of things, it was a rock!) to the base to counter balance the huge metal limbs versus the tiny metal gaunt.
Was really cool, after a good bit of work, green stuff, and filing, got it just right.
Then lost the model.

I recently picked up painting my Tyranid army again. Used to play Space Marine Dark Templars and Vampire Counts in the past, but never really bothered with the painting too much.
I bought some paint an brushes a few months ago, yet I still have to get started. If Wrath didn't come up I probably would have had the time to paint them. Being a perfectionist when it comes to aesthetics nowadays they will be masterpieces when I'm done with 'em. However that might take a couple of months.
It's sad to know that my local Games Workshop lost most of it's customers, so really few people left playing Warhammer it seems. Guess I could force inphy for a game against his Lolmarines or so... or we could organize a 40k meeting somewhere... or not.

Pics when finished...!
