Title: Problems with AVG Virusscanner
Post by: Auran on November 12, 2008, 02:12:13 pm
Folks,

To prevent you from being able to play WOTLK as soon as it comes out; this warning.

Some error has slipped into AVG free virus scanner. For people using this, try to download the newest version asap, as the latest update has some bug that puts a windows file user32.dll into the vault rendering it useless and resulting into errors. With the newest version this should be fixed.

Regards,
Aur/Omni

I removed AVG anti-virus. It kept getting more bugged by the day.

I'm going to try the norton 2009 anti-virus, which I got for free, so why not.

Nod32 has a trial, which is quite annoying. I get norton for free. And they said 2009 improved alot, so I'm just going to give it a try and see how it works out.

Norton is a hideous abomination that should be stricken from existence.

Would advise heavily against even a trial, you'll only want to uninstall it anyway and it'll save you the hassle to just avoid it (like the plague).

Whatever kind of antiviros you are using , I strongly recommend the payed full versions , not trials and free once , but its a matter of choise anyway .

What you think about mcafee?

We used that @work for some years, it seemed to slow down the system a lot so we switched to AVG.

At home I use Antivir cause it's free for personal use. Works fine, never had virus issues and it detects the occasional infected warezed stuff.

I use avg at the moment I used to have antivir, but when deleted vista and got xp I wanted to try something different.
At work we use nod32/eset security. Works great and you can make it do almost everything without user input.

Guess what, Avast may interfere with WOW. Slowing down gameplay. Had that 2 times already.
