Great dialogue/character-driven film, starring, directed by, produced by... Clint Eastwood. It's Oscar season, and this is obviously intended to be a winner.

Touching film, very funny in parts. Eastwood seems to almost get better with age... Plays an awesome grumpy grandfather war veteran in this one.

Anyway, give it a watch :)

Also, if anyone knows of other Oscar nominees... let me know!

I have no idea about oscar nominees, but after im done with few more movies, il make you a list of must watch ones, for 2008. About Gran Torino, thats without question one of must watch.

Yay Oscar season. Gran Torino is on my list but I had to get a better version first.

I started the Oscar spree with Revolutionary Road (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0959337/) yesterday. Flawlessly played bittersweet destruction of the American 50s.

Finished the next Oscar movie: The Wrestler (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1125849/). Damn good, too. Mickey Rourke is just perfect for that role.
But are all this year's Oscar nominations that depressing? Some more of that and I'm gonna shoot myself :D

Watched Gran Torino just now.  Pretty good film.  Didn't expect the ending to go quite as it did.
