Title: Epic quality vs. Superior quality
Post by: Gaeios(Graxlos) on January 19, 2009, 01:50:16 pm
I recently became exalted with kirin tor and saw that hey they have a epic leather belt for a slot in which I have a blue left.

I realize that all slots have the same values except one less crit rating on the epic.

the gem is blue instead of yellow and it has 4 int instead of 5 sp as bonus.

How the hell does that make any sense? the plate item is from revered and the epic is from exalted...

It's abit werid they got totaly same stats (just different gem), may be the only differance coud be if there isnt any spellplate waist like this one added at any of the other fractions so they just easy mode coppied the stats from this leather one / or reverce  ;)

What's the confusion about - that the items have similar stats while one being blue and the other epic?

Isn't that because the epic item is a leather item?
I thought the 'higher' an item's armor type, the higher the item's stat point budget (plate items have more stats than mail items, mail items have more stats than leather items etc).

I didn't know about that.

I thought in tbc and earlier that you could actually get better healing stats going with a cloth, leather or mail item, because plate items wasted points on armor value.

Or I might be wrong and the leather epic is just underbudgeted; if you compare it to this leather epic belt of same iLevel [wowitem]Vine Belt of the Woodland Dryad[/wowitem]  http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40695

Plate items don't get more stats to distribute - actually they get historically less, because the armour does (or at least did, I'm not certain if this is still the case) count against the ilvl budget. This has actually been a bone dps warriors have picked with blizz for a long time now, as even with the inclusion of an 'armour = ap bonus' talent, leather can be and still is the best in slot here and there. And suffers less from berserking enchant proc reduction on armour too. The 226 leather gloves from malygos 25 for example are best in game for dps warriors as well as rogues etc.

It seems ilvls are something blizzard are not taking too seriously these days. I saw two blue rings with ilvl 187 and ilvl 200 where the ilvl 187 had slightly better stats.
they dont make sense.
