Anyone have any recomendations for really good Sci Fi movies? Movies that include like, Space, Black Wholes, Whacky but potential theories and futuristic stuff that also include Cyborgs, Androids, Well Cybernetics also, interstellar travel, wormholes, Life outside our planet etc etc.
I've watched a lot of movies Sci-Fi movies such as all the Alien films and the old Predator ones. Supernova. Puzzlehead. Alien Vs Predator 1-2 ( I didint like them much ), watched Star Trek also but it was not exactly my taste its more a costume party and sorta unrealistic and plenty of whoom I cant remember
If you guys know any movies that might fall into my interests please tell me ! :)

What is the difference between a cybernetic and a cyborg :P (Cybernetic organism)
Well the important old ones are star wars, blade runner, 2001: A space odyssey and the "planet of the apes" series.
Of the newer sort I personally love "the fifth element" although it is a bit goofy.
A movie that wasnt a big success but I found to be pretty good was "dark city", it seemed like a total "the matrix" ripoff until I realized it came out a year earlier :P
This is an impossible thread. Go check out

I think I have seen all but 5 of them :P

Oh and you can't miss out; The Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy. It's pure win!
But nice list, I should download some of those.
-
damn some awesome flicks in there. also the real sci-fi genre setters like the original the day the earth stood still and invasion of the body snatchers!
-
I love films, but frankly you can't beat the books for some real classic. A few film adaptation have really butchered them though such as Battlefield: Earth
-
same goes for hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. Awesome trilogy in five parts.
So fail movie adaptation.
-
True, the books are way more fun then the movie. Same goes for Harry Potter, but you can hardly call that SCI-FI.
-
Nice link! Will have to watch some of those.

There are a lot of great sci-fis that doesn’t take place in space. But here’s a list of my favorite space ones.
Total Recall (1990). Schwarzenegger in space and a girl with three tits. Must see, very entertaining . Funny costumes. (8/10)
Sunshine (2007). Scientists flying to the dying sun to blow it back to life with nukes. Nice apocalyptic atmosphere. From Danny Boyle that made 28 days later, a great post apocalyptic film most people have seen. A lot of people seem to have missed this one though. (8/10)
Solaris (1972). A psychologist travelling to a space station by the planet Solaris to investigate why a lot of weird things have been going on since the boss there committed suicide. This is not a monster flick but a surrealistic and philosophical movie about reality (do we create it for ourselves, etc). It’s also romantic and incredibly beautiful (9/10). PS. Heavy symbolism so be in the right mood (or avoid it if you don’t like that kind of sci-fi).
Planet of the Apes (1968). Classic post apocalyptic sci-fi. I would avoid the zillion other ones in the series though unless you’re a huge fan (8/10).
Alien (1979). One of my favorite movies, all categories. Best monster movie ever. (10/10)
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). Also one of my favorites. I’ve written about this one and Alien in the thread “films to see before you die” so check that if you’re interested. (10/10)

over the top can be good.
Starship Troopers is one of those, for me atleast.
"Let's Crack a planet!"
-
"Enemy Mine" is a very old but good one!
Dark City also is one of the best ! And Johnny Mnemonic may have a chance to get watched too. But it 's not epic like the other 2. OFc, BladeRunner like Kagir has mentioned abowe.

I've just seen, 2001: A space odessey.
HOW BORING CAN IT GET. It was really lame.
-
Heathen
-
Sunshine (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448134/) is awesome.
-
That Sunshine movie was really interesting indeed.
I just watched this movie Gattaca. Its about people in the future all being born by perfect selection of sperm and genes to give people the edge over normal born people.
And ordinary people not being able to enjoy the qualities of life as those born with perfect genes.
Pretty interesting aswell . :)

Sunshine reminded me too much of that other film... with the black hole thing...
-
But its kinda awkward and.. Not exactly very Sciency for a Sci Fi movie.

Yes, it's definitely "influenced" by Alien and Event Horizon. But in a good way.
Gattaca is great. One of my favourite movies.
-
I just saw dark city again last night in a HD version.
I had forgotten how close it is to the matrix, extreme amount of parallels.

Stick to Steven Seagal movies mate ;)
-
have you checked out the anime genre for sci-fi yet? some real classics in that (and dont mean the fact all films are based in "neo-toyko"
I'm a massive fan of Ghost In The Shell.
You might also like the appleseed stuff and a recent one i posted here somewhere yet cant remember ....
edit: found it again, it was Vexille.
-
Oh, yes, Vexille was good.
