Character creator is up here
http://blog.bioware.com/ (http://blog.bioware.com/)
enjoy
-
I havn't heard much about it but I've certainly enjoyed past Bioware games, might check it.
How do you find time for so many different games though grish?
-
I guess he just reads Steam? If you don't use it, get it! There are always lots of different/new/interesting games on there.
-
Hopefully it'll play better than it looks in their onsite-videos. Who came up with that depressing quake1 color palette? Grey, brown and all those shades of purple. It's probably intended but very unappealing and drab. And the terribad low res textures and character faces right out of Poser (http://my.smithmicro.com/win/poser/index.html).
-
Hm, the character generator looked pretty high-res to me? But I haven't really looked at detailed chargen since Morrowind/Oblivion/NWN1.
Looking forward to this one.
-
I haven't downloaded the char creator. Just judging from the stuff they posted on the official game site (screenshots, movies). Odd it looks way worse than their 2 year old Mass Effect (which looked hot). I suspect B team.
You all suck at posting/editing!
-
B team.
B raid?
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Dwarf females.
;)

next buy for ps3 no doubt.
-
next buy for ps3 no doubt.
be a real man and buy it on your pc...
-
Looking at getting this on PC tbh. For PS3, I really should get Demon's Souls.
-
PS3 has no games etc...
-
if i had a good computer and enjoyed playing singel player games on a PC... i would!
-
This game is quite good, or it got me hooked for the moment.
-
this looks really good i might pick this up on the PS3 though as my PC isnt up to much other than warcraft and i dont fancy spending a fortune just yet.
-
Played it a little, and it feels great so far! Went with elf mage, its great that they finally implemented mana system (unlike in NWN 1/2), its just more playable then any other party based rpg i tryed. Story is interesting and so are dialogues, movie sequences, humor,.. For example when you talk with that witch in 'the wilds' it goes like this:
- I know a bit of magic, also some history, etc..
- Can you cook?
:D
Its also fun that your starting location and story depends of your class/race.
Anyway, level 6. Elven Mage and advancing! :)
-
Woah, everyone's playing DAO!
Even Kendo... didn't know you played other games :P
It's very slow going, at least if you play through every dialogue option. But it does seem interesting -- seems like the back story is nicely fleshed out.
-
wont be released for ps3 in EU for another two weeks...oh well.
-
P-p-p-piirraaacy.
-
I'm so installing the pirated copy now. Motherfuckers.
-
We finally got him.
-
Downloading this now! :D
-
hmm anyone got this uploaded on a server at all I can dl from?
-
It's 8GB, Monstar...
Go Torrent.
-
but thats huuuuuge :(
-
you could always go to a store and buy a copy if your internet connection isn't up to much. You're a student right? Student loan + bursary here affords you soooooooo much crap. Just be careful on your food spending and you'll have bucketloads for tech/games and drinking!
-
Reminds me of first-year-first-week at university.
All of the comp-sci nerds were running around with £700 PDAs (the iPaq thingees were just out/all the rage around then).
Ah... how they feasted on super noodles for the rest of the year.
-
i love this game
shale
is
awesome
-
Just did the 'mountain temple' -- very awesome. Very big.
Quite a few reloads...
Now in some woods, with the elves.
Finally my Qunari is doing some damage with a proper poleaxe thing!
-
Not been to a mountain temple yet, but did the forest area, which was very very cool. Also had some big reveals. In a city that has its own travel map and stuff going on!
Loving that fights often offer a real challenge; reminds me a lot of some of Strategy RPGs like Disgaea and Final Fantasy Tactics, but also with a bit of a small-scale RTS feel to it too a bit like the DS game FF12 Revenant Wings.
-
I'm last hitting those darkspawns like a pro.
200+apm
-
Hopefully it'll play better than it looks in their onsite-videos.
(I'm so awesome, I'm quoting myself)
Yeah, way hotter than the lowres shit their PR guys released beforehand. Whoever made those videos should be fired ASAP.
A bit too much talking in some sections for my taste. More dialogues involving several characters please instead of those 30 minute monologues where some guy talks and talks and talks.
Also, some quests are confusing as they apparently get solved during random encounters while travelling on the world map.
I hate the economy system. Wtf stores selling stuff for 22g when my whole party has 4g. Is there some secret way to make money? Crafting? Stores selling for 3x the amount they buy items for - hello, this isn't some MMO that needs a goldsink to counter monster grinding :/
"In exchange for this bag (7g), I'll give you 20 swords, 40 armor items, 2 bars of gold and those 20 gems". Yeah, awesome...
Combat seems to have too much random factor now and then. Not unusual to get instagibbed by some uberspell while having no problems at all during the next try. Works the same with your own spells (fireball lol). Feels a bit like pre-resilience pvp.
-
Oh, and the quests themselves feel very linear. I haven't come across many quests that offer multiple ways of solving (actually only one single mini-encounter comes to mind). That's pretty lame.
Same with the dialogue options. Most of the time, they don't seem to have much influence. I'm feeling played for a sucker when there are 5 choices but 3 or 4 of them lead to exactly the same line.

As you level up, the gold income becomes greater. Douche was telling me he'd bought that 138g staff in the tower yesterday, I was like WTF!.

I've not encountered any mob that has aoe-splatted me yet. I'm only playing on normal, though. All these encounters like revenants and ogres and so on just die fairly easily to good tactics...
-
Playing on normal, too. I learnt that LOS-ing is a good tactic against larger groups when possible. Those arcane-somethings in the mage tower sure do have some nasty spells if they get them off.
-
I stealth up behind them and 1-shot with riposte :P
It's the mages in the tower that gave me the most trouble actually, fireballs from 4 mages at the same time... nasty!
-
Turns out game wants you to think!
I've bumped it down from normal to easy for now, seems like I was supposed to have been spamming health pots and not spending points in 2hander skills for your tank.
I might reroll actually, since I've made a lot of retarded decisions. Or I'll play catchup on easy till I've recovered from 6 levels of being dumb.
But yeah, the game is awesome :)
-

Yeah, instagib. I don't use rogue/stealth, cba to micromanage. Does the AI use it itself?
Also I didn't notice the chick from the chantry was a rogue until I opened her char screen by accident. Before that she landed on my discard pile almost instantly.
-
Ah, mages with fireballs? Reminds me of BG1 or 2, I forget which... some zone with a lot of fireballing mages. Durlag's Tower maybe?
Fun times...
-
The fireballs here are more like meteor strikes.
-
walking bomb is more fun to use then fireball anyway
and then you get virulent walking bomb (if i spelled that correctly) and i loved it even more
anyway fireballs you can target on the ground so you dont exactly have to damage your own party no?
anyway i was in a forest looking for witherfang and i decided to disturb the wards on one of those ancient gravestones... i do not recommend that i mean that revenant that pops up pretty much one shotted all my characters expect Shale the golem (he is awesome btw best tank in the game probably) just seems to me that a healer in your part is pretty nessasary
-
Hehe. I didn't find Shale yet... guess he's from somewhere I haven't been -- only done the Urn and the Woods.
I did the Revenants OK, but if there's extra skeletons I have to set it to Easy.
Pot, pot, pot...
-
there were about 7 skeletons with that revenant which i had to use pots and heals and pots and everything for
also Shale is from DLC you got for pre-ordering or was it cause of the collectors edition... anyway one or the other im not sure which
edit: it might have been 5 skeletons i dunno
does anyone know where you can learn about being a blood mage or arcane warrior btw?
-
Blood mage is from the Urn quest line (Jowan) -- you learn when you're in the Fade, I think.
Arcane warrior is from the dungeon in the Woods/Elves quest. There's a phylactery there that you need to 'listen' to.
-
Finished the game last night on hard.
Was really REALLY good ending
-
I finally got this shiet working, loving the dialogues so far..never played a rpg.
-
never played an rpg.
*dies*
-
uhm just cause it has MMO infront of it doesnt mean you never played an rpg
fukken vorte
-
Well fine, I have never played a single player rpf where choice matters, happy? :P
-
It's okay vorte, most people understood. MMOs don't really count anyway!
-
Started playing the game last night and it's pretty awesome. Do the actual choices you make when talking to people and such effect the ending to the game? Just curious since I got some woman in the game killed yesterday...
-
as far as i know it should
also MMORPGs are still rpg's but i still understood what vorte meant >.<
-
Just completed it. Very awesome!
-
im sorry mister goza i figure the part where i made it tiny made it obvious that it was in fact a spoiler
just completed it aswell... its a good end but at the same time a bad end i mean the part where your main character sacrifices him/her self to end the blight
decided to go and try to how a dual wield warrior would work for my second character

Pretty cool.
-

Pretty sure they are the best DPS in the game, was hitting for 140 with both weapons at level 20
-
Just started playing this as it looks kinda awesome.
I'm interested in what race/class choices you guys have being playing, and which you found was the most fun/interesting origin story to play.
Started as a human warrior noble, which seemed pretty cool. Then tried a human mage, which i felt the origin was pretty boring (though only got to just after the harrowing, maybe it gets better?), as i didn't like all the restrictions, and being the templar's bitch the whole time. The most interesting one i found so far, was the dwarf commoner, which, as you start as the lowest of the low, is a really cool underdog story, with cool dialogue.
Anyway, what have you being playing, and which origin you find the most interesting?
-
1st completed the game with a Noble Warrior going sword and board, was quite fun but had no real reason to keep Alister in the raid, so often didnt play with him in favour of one of the warriors or Leliana so she could open lockboxes. story does get ALOT better hugman, as far as being the templar's bitch, kinda becomes the other way around the further you get along.
2nd time around playing a cute little female human rogue. real fun to play currently, great dmg sitting behind enemies and backstabing.
next id like to try out mage and go with the elf questline.
-
Mage no matter the race will always start in the mage tower, unless you use console commands.
-
the best origen imo is both of the dwarves
my first playthrough was a female elf mage with blood magic and arcane warrior as specializations
you could tank very well as a arcane warrior if you specced right (i didnt but it was nice anyway)
blood magic gives a large aoe stun that you can target on the ground and doesnt give any sort friendly fire either it is a very nice spell
anyway my second playthrough which im doing now is as a dual wield warrior with beserker and another specialization not sure if i want to try a champion templar or reaver
playing a city elf for the sole reason that you get a skill in dual wield at the start bit of a meh start though
-
playing an elf mage speced towards healing/cc. im level 9 but havent found any specialization yet. i wanna grab spirit healer and...dunno the second. maybe i should have learned blood magic from the demon in radcliffe but i like to be nice.. so i killed it instead :s
anyway, great game.
-
You do know all you need to do is unlock the achievement. So save before, go down the 'bad' route and get Blood Magic, then load up saved game and continue as you like. :D
-
you get spirit healer from a book in denerim's market district
you also keep all the speciliazations you unlocked in your second playthrough... or atleast with me it did
-
Once u've unlocked a specialisation, it's always unlocked forever. What Sint did was save before buying the books, then reload the game. Saved himself 15g each time...
-
What a frickin' cheat!
I bet he hammered quicksave throughout the game too, in case he died.
-
If u die is it a Game over start again or are there checkpoints atleast.
-
u load your last save... there are autosaves every time you zone.
-

Yes, he said he saved after every battle

-
Better than shitting dick nipples.
-
I want to know what it was!
-
Finally finished it. 50h playtime, wtf. Got a bit stale in the 3rd quarter (for me: the dwarf quests) cause there was nothing new to do, no new interesting spells/skills left etc. Fun again at the landsmeet.
Hate the economy system with a vengeance, spending 80+% of all my money on mats for health/mana potions even with a main healer in the party. Couldn't buy anything else but the skill books and some bags.
Well, ended up with ~100 spare potions in the end, who would know the end battle would be so fucking easy when every other (mini)boss had my casters chew thru potions like mad. Grmpf.
Anyone else noticed how the prerendered cutscenes look way worse than the ones done ingame? Why even include them.
-
I still have the final battle to go. Not done it yet. But I assume the game doesn't end when I do it -- and I can still fill in any quests I haven't done yet?
Economy definitely not great.
Too much combat in the game imo. Couple that, with lots of dialogue, and you can see where all the hours go.
-
No, game ends when you do the big battle. Short epilogue and that's it.
So do your side quests before that.
Oh, and no need to save your army for later stages. I did that and ended up with 95% of it left.
-
You must've missed a lot of side quests if you didn't have enough money...
Or, did you actually buy pots instead of making them? I bought mats and made 300+ lyrium and health pots, cost about 50g. Never needed any more!
-
I did almost every side quest. Unfortunately I did miss the one quest involving selling lyrium that apparently awards you with an instant 50g, and the dwarven one that awards a similir amount (as I was almost done with the game by then anyway).
And yes of course I made the potions myself. Vendors sell them for 70s or something, even more ridiculous.
-
I never did those quests! I earned about 700g by the end of the game, which was more than enough. I spent at least half of that on weapons and armour and runes and stuff.
-
finished it on normal last weekend. i basically played through the main story with a few side quests. didnt bother to maximize my party's performance.
playing through hard as a rogue now and I aim to do most side quests and get the best gear. i slew the high dragon last night! im trying to do make some different choices but its hard not be somewhat nice with wynne in your party. i really dont wanna lose her!
i plan to do one final play solo as an arcane warrior/blood mage that will be insanely evil. i was inspired by one guy on the forums that did this. he killed all compansions he could and kept alistair naked in camp as a sex slave.
i think its a great game. works good on console too, i was a bit worried. im sure its better on a PC though, but I rather play it on 40" than on my laptop..
it's a bit too linear though and the world is rather small. i like oblivion better in that sense. i also like oblivion's side quests alot more. the gameplay, characters and main story is alot better in DA:O though.
-
Solo? That sounds pretty wild. On easy I presume? Or does the difficulty scale depending on your party size?
-
I've been playing it through on hard, and its quite a challenge.
I think Solo would be near impossible though, as a couple of knockdowns/stuns/overpowers and its all over.
-
Solo as mage is quite possible tho, mage has it all, can nuke, CC, and not so squishy as arcane warrior.
Heres good movie of how imba mage CC is :)
-
woah, looks alot different than ps3. more like a strategy game.
i think arcane warrior/blood mage can solo. also think rogue is possible when abusing combat stealth/traps, doesnt seem very fun though (as rogue). solo as an imba arcane war/blood mage seem pretty cool though :P
this playthrough is pretty easy even on hard. i know how to spec and what to expect, etc. my dagger rogue with haste is pretty crazy and alistair never dies. my rogue just use combat stealth if he agros. morrigan dish out tons of dmg/cc and wynne keeps everyone up. more or less infinite mana pots keeps us going on and on.
solo should prove to be a challenge though and a chance to be very evil. fun!
-
Dragon age was an excellent game. The characters and story were very well made. Dialogue was quite credible as well, so it was easy to get immersed in the game. I was bit annoyed at the ending though because it left so many questions open for the next game ( that wont be probably released for like 2 or 3 years ). Not saying it's a bad thing, but I craved for more info.
However, I just found out a few days ago that there will be an expansion, and it's only a few months away. Supposedly it will be released sometime in March. Here's a link for more info http://dragonage.bioware.com/awakening (http://dragonage.bioware.com/awakening). the pc version will cost approx 30€. There's not too much info about expansion length yet, but I've heard that it's probably like 15-20 hours or something. I hope it's long. The expansion is not just some side quest fest as far as I know, but it sets few years after the original and continues the main story.
