Title: 2012: The worst movie ever.
Post by: Cwave on December 07, 2009, 11:20:59 pm
2/10.

Can't even descrive how bad this movie is, from the acting to the horrible script to the enourmous pile of inaccurate science.

Do not watch unless you wanna get robbed for 2 hours of your life.

I was actually really looking foreward to this movie. I was even thinking of it as one of the movies you ONLY see at theatres.

Ended up downloading it with proper quality but etchy sound. Nevertheless i had the same impression as you. There was quite a few "lol, yeah right" moments, and i wasnt very much impressed by the acting either, worst of all was the president. Sigh.

3/10

Agree, it's pure shit. It's not even right. Like you can outdrive a pyroclastic cloud.

2/10 - 2 for the special effects.

Planning to download the blueray rip someday to enjoy the special fx. Guess that's the best you can get out of it.

(hopes there aint 95% nonsense talking and 5% fx scenes)

enjoy the special FX?!?! Sorry goza but even that part is a FAIL for this movie. I somewhat watched with the same motivation, even thou shitty storyline i can see some cool fx etc... etc... But what i see was horrible camera mappings, bad explosions. I swear I've seen 3dsmax tutorials which resulted better camera mappings...
Movie is a total failure in all aspects.

I really wanted to enjoy this film just for the effects bad the acting even ruined it for, it was that bad.

Also,

Pull.up.the.modderfokking.plane........

He doesnt pull up for a small Piper airplane for 1 min total but does put a Antonov into a 40 degree stall climb without problems...

RAAAAAAAGE :P

It's really funny to watch how they can just drive recklessly through the streets of collapsing skyscrapers without ever being hit. They're just always inches away from being crushed, sucked into a pit or killed in some other fashion.

I saw this awesome movie yesterday, where the main character flew a certain airplane and then he tried to avoid a falling building and his plane stalled and he died.

Then I saw this other disastermovie where the maincharacter gets killed by a falling skyscraper in the beginning that was awesome too.

Did you expect it to be realistic? I guess none of you saw the trailer before going to see it :P

I think GI Joe 2009 rise of the cobra maybe tops 2012, haven't seen 2012 yet.
A friend told me it was "absolutely the best and most awesome 'worst movie' he'd seen so far this year".

and ofc. i coudn't resist it :P

It's so good they totaly redefine the laws of gravity in the most awesome way.

*spoiler alert*
By blowing up the north pole so that the ice sinks in the water and destroying a secret base located under it. How awesome is that!  :P

Same goes for Transformers2.
Openings scene: Downtown Africa and they show some hunters hunting down a Tiger, a Tiger in Africa :P

So here's a dumbass who will watch 2012 after all your great reviews just to have 2 hours of laughing and shouting at the TV for so much fail. :)

@ Grax

Ofc. you don't expect a film like that to be realistic, but i think with shit like 2012, GI Joe and Transformers they are not only testing our OMGFAIL limit, but also destroying our/my childhood memories.  :(

I have seen transformers 2 and gi joe rotc. I found both utterly shit and a waste of my time.

But on this forum lots of people seemed to actually like transformers 2.

I do prefer movies that keep it within the real physical boundaries but still make it awesome, thats why I like science fiction since we can't say that it won't be normal to shoot lasers in the future or make machines that can defy gravity etc.

Or in the matrix(1) where everything happens within the parameters of a computer program and as such everything is possible.

But most action movies these days have no regard for physics anyway.

Anyone watched mythbusters lately?

Most movie actionscenes made in the last 20 years are not realistic anyway :P

Exploding cars? People flying through the air after being shot by a handgun?

People dodging grenades by running two meters from the explosions?

People kicking eachother hard enough for them to fly across the room and then still being able to stand up afterwards :P

But from movies as Transformers, and G.I. Joe, you KNOW it's not ment to be realistic, so you don't expect it to be.

A movie as 2012, you expect it to be possible. Hoping they did some research on all the matters of a supervulcano, or stuff like that. But they just threw that away and made a whole new 'omg got to survive!' movie. Just like "The day after tommorow", with the whole new ice age and shit.

"A movie as 2012, you expect it to be possible."

WTF, Inphy? :P

You know the world isn't actually going to end in 2012 right?

Yeah, its just around the corner, and im sure most of the raidteams will be split up considering most wont survive, so we gotta recruit more a month ahead.
Title: Re: 2012: The worst movie ever.

I know the world isn't going to end. But the things that 'should' or 'could' end the world, are possible. There is really a 'supervolcano' in the US. And there really is the possibility of a solar flare big enough to disrupt the worlds magnetic fields. And there are more examples like that. Plate tectonics man!

I'm just saying that these things are possible, but they just ruined it, and made it something to laugh about really.

now that we are talking about possibilities. B-raid could beat A-raid.

Megan Fox could become a good actress.

And the world COULD end tomorrow.

Didnt make me think that 2012 would be a realistic movie though.

If her puppies had a lead role, I'd watch it.

One thing that really made me rage about that movie was the "OH NO WE HAVE 3 SECONDS LEFT? WILL WE TURN IT OFF IN TIME?!"

I really REALLY hate these, they are just so SO predictable...

Wow, what can you say about this movie?
To answer that question in one word: Epic.

I watched the Bluray rip last night and I gotta say I'm completely blown away! I have never before seen such realistic graphics. It was so incredibly detailed down to the chairs in toppling building. The man-hours put into details in this movie must have been nothing short of astounding. The suspense is built up through great character-building early in the movie, which ends in a cascade of relatable emotions and actions.

John Cusack with his (probably) best performance of his career, easily beating Identity or similar movies he's done. Woody Harrelson plays a very convincing outsider living in the forest, with his radio station as his only connection to the "real" world. The way he portrayed the toll of isolation is very hands-on and realistic. The russian twin kids are perfectly cast for the roll of upper-class wealth / lower-class morality, showing the audience how even wealthy kids can be multi-faceted and open to relations "across the class borders" so to speak.

What really raised my feelings for this movie was the amount of chasing-the-heels type of getaways. I mean, the suspense of watching the crew outrun pyroclastic clouds and having the ground vanish right on their tail is really amazing!

I won't spoil the plot, but I have to say that it is very on-time with current events and speaks a very real moral story of how people are, and how people should be. It is a frontrunner for high morality and common sense for all of humanity.

Best watch in the category since Battlefield Earth (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185183/), which is a great film by the way.

Worst Budget/CinematicValue  Ratio ever.
i cant imagine how they spend so much efford for such a stupid storytelling. No doubt it was entertaining in some ways, but it just fits in for the DVD market.
