Title: Fkkn avast
Post by: shankski on October 03, 2010, 01:48:28 am
the latest update of avast stopped me from playing wow.

if anyone has this problem heres the fix:

Quote
If you are using Avast 5.0 this is how you do it (almost the same except for some name changes)

Open your Avast! window by double clicking on it's icon in your processing bar.

Choose "Real-Time Shields" and click "Expert Settings"

Choose the tab called "Exclusions"

Click "Add" and then write the destination on the new line.

If you are using XP you choose this folder destination:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\*

And if you are using Windows 7:
C:\PROGRAMDATA\BLIZZARD ENTERTAINMENT\BATTLE.NET\CACHE\*

ofc if ur battlenet cache is on a different drive you will have to change the exception

Im not currently using avast but  I have generally have good experiences with it.

This is sadly a kind of error that can happen to all of them, like a few months ago when Norton internet security deleted the wow launcher from everyone that installed the update before they fixed it.

Im using microsoft security essentials too.

I'm sure there's a person out there who says this about every AV.  The best firewall available is, of course, setting your router on fire.

Get NOD32. Even better, get a mac. No need for anti-virus then ;)

Best urban legend ever.

You do know that apple actually recommends using antivirus?

The reason they rarely get virus is that there are still so relatively few macs online.

The reason they rarely get virus is that not even virus creators give a fuck about macs.
