Title: Discipline Priest - Efective
Post by: Efective on April 30, 2011, 12:21:08 am
Alright - hi guys! My real name is Marko and I'm 16 years old (I've been lying about my age for 4 years, I feel like I'm okay with it now ;p). In my free time I like sipping alcohol, doing illegal stuff, socializing, listening to music, making music, movies, TV shows etc.

I've been playing WoW since early TBC but I spent most of the TBC time leveling my character because I wasn't playing much. I was mostly PvE because killing big stuff was intresting to a 13-14 year old, so I stuck with raiding and ended with a 6/8 T6 dual glaive rogue - since I was a no-life kid at that point I cleared entire TBC PvE content and gave serious PvP a shot which resulted decent - 1900-1950 rating in S4 as Rogue/Druid.

After reaching that certain rating, I got a really good offer to sell the account and since I was sick & tired of it and gladiator title was unreachable for me - I sold it and gave WoW a rest.

When WotLK was released my intrest in WoW was again high but since I had no account I decided to buy a new one with a rogue but this time with a priest in it. Rogue was focused on PvE like the last time and I left the priest inactive. Was raiding Ulduar and then my guild got disbanded and I had nothing left to do but to PvP on my priest.

This is the part that intrests you -

Late Season 5: ~1800ish rating with some lvl70 gear on the priest - 2v2 Warlock/Priest

at this time I fell in love with the class and I was becoming one of the best priests on the server (small one, great community though and my focus was put on the priest entirely)

Season 6: 2v2 - 2350 as Rogue/Priest; 3v3 - 2150ish as Rogue/Priest/Warlock (2v2 was my priority since the lock rarely ever logged and didn't want to share facebook/msn)

At this time I realized I was spending way too much time on WoW so I decided to quit and never come again so I sold the account again and did stuff IRL. Months later while on summer break everyone left the town so I was alone with a friend that played WoW, and coicidences happen but yeah - he had an inactive lvl80 priest on his server and I said why not, I know I'm not gonna spend retarded amount online again because I got other things to do and I'll die of boredom since no one's in the town.

Season 8: 1800 in 9 days with halfly PvE geared priest (current character) as Mage/Priest

Summer break ended, game time expired, goal reached (1800 with my friend), season nearly coming an end and I'm still in furious gear so no point rushing a title so I gave it a rest.

I came back to cataclysm a couple of weeks ago realizing that I'm sitting on facebook 6 hours a day and then going out with friends in the evening (I barely study, I got the scolarship 3 years before college so I'm super proud of myself) so I'm playing again. ~25h a week at most, don't worry about me quitting because I'm playing too much :D.

Season 9: 2200 3v3 - Ret/DK/Priest (Ret and myself bloodthirsty geared, oh yeah!)

Why I want to join the guild - since honor farming is done and from now on I'll be only logging my priest for arena (way too lazy to level up my alt, it's a success if I log it once a week for 1-2 hours) and I really want to give RBGs a shot - more competition - more fun!

How I can contribute - I've been chatting over the internet for a long time now and I feel like I'm giving out the positive internet-chat energy and I'm a funny person (at least I think I am, don't tell me I'm not, it'll crush my world), loyal friend and most importantly - a dedicated PvPer.

I guess an armory link would come handy - http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/dunemaul/efective/advanced

UI prewiev - http://img21.imageshack.us/i/wowscrnshot043011001813.jpg/ (I forgot to include cast bars - but meh, my cast bar is big and focus cast bar is huge for poly SWD's.

Thanks for reading - hope to hear from you soon! :)

Don't quite understand why people have 1/4 of their screen blacked out.

Cause I find it cleaner that way and I don't have to look at my feet.

Trying.. to..ignore.. setup..

That's wise considering you've spent last 2 weeks LSD'ing!

Good luck with your application!

Used to do it myself looking back now i have nfi why.

Its not too bad if its just the actionbars and such but going over player frames is a bit excessive

That's a seriously weird UI xDDDD

I guess I shouldn't have posted the UI link, this turns into a UI discussion :/. Though, it might need some explaining so - the top frame is focus and focus target frame - yes, mages are using [target=focus] script but from my experience they don't in battlegrounds so that's bassicly the only reason it's that big. And some of my action bars are hidden obviously, and the red fire is Inner Fire, the green ankh is renew timer and the purple shield is weakened soul timer. :p

Well played, back to hero comps now, though!

Don't know if the policy of applying to only one guild at a time to Iron Edge counts in pvp section, but Efectiv got one applications on Articulo Mortis running atm.

Don't know if you talked to anyone in IE about it or anything, just want you guys to know.

Vorte, it's more than obvious that you think that I've gotten carried by comps, but I didn't choose to play a cleave, I would much rather play RMP or something but I know maybe 5 people on this server and I happend to know a DK and a ret that were team hopping or didn't have a team. I also had very, very poor gear so I couldn't exactly choose my partners. 2350 in s6 as rogue/priest against all those dk/(prot)holy pala, dk/druid, war/druid, war/(prot) holy pala, warlock/holy pala etc. wasn't exactly cake, and as I said I wasn't playing much in 3vs3.

I, though, have a feeling that my comp wouldn't matter if I was 2.4k rated which I hopefully will in 2 weeks.

P.S.I got an app on AM, but I spoke to Gule and he said there isn't a spot for me since they've already got 2 disc priests and only 1 RBG group, it's just not officially declined yet.

So bassicly, if I was rank 1 in this battlegroup and you were the guild leader you would decline my application because I'm running a very weak cleave?

On topic - you probably deserve a shot, but if you think going anywhere as ret\dk\X is an accomplishment you'll probably get trolled apart.

I don't think you quite understand how healing as a priest works in arena. I'm the one avoiding CC, positioning properly, popping/saving CDs, dispelling quickly, faking casts and so on. If I was playing any other setup, from my point of view it wouldn't matter if the other 2 players were doing their jobs right. If I was, for instance, playing RMP I would have much more time focusing on dispels and assisting damage than I am now. There are not many things my partners can do for me if I get zerged while mage and rogue give so much support (you already know) and CC on the other targets which automaticly reduces the damage taken -> makes it easier for me. My ret paladin partner is bloodthirsty geared, like me, and he can't get me under 90% without wings in a duel. If I was the DK or the ret, then yes, sure, troll me, but I think you don't have the grounds to criticize my participation in the setup here.

I use that UI for my alt warrior :p. My UI is this way because I need keep track of many things at the same time and I also like health bars being big cause my screen is 24" so if I get too excited and horny by spamming mind spike I might miss the fact that someone's dying so I keep track of that too. :P

I'm just gonna throw in a couple of things here about UI. If you have a large black bar at the bottom, you can actually change the viewport too.. changing the aspect ratio and actually your FOV with it. So you can get a wider field of vision which is actually going to be, I think, more helpful more often than a little bit taller field of vision.

Secondly, there's just good old personal preference and heck, let's face it, it just isn't that important.

Best of luck with the application.

Death knights and rets have amazing tools for the healer in this setup, just because your team mates might not be using them doesn't mean they're not there :p

I'm not critizing you specifically, or your role, but your setup is gay as shit, that's all I'm getting at, and that alone has nothing to do with whether or not you get accepted! :) (Unless you'd just have 2v3'd the pvp officer and he's mad as hell, as was the case with Lequalizer ;) )

yeah, my comp is probably gay as hell but you sounded like you think I'm standing in the middle of the arena and spamming flash heal, far from that. I've actually had a harder time here than anywhere else.

And DK and the ret dont have so many great tools to help me.
Hoj/Repent - often if not always used offensivly
Strangulate - often if not always used offensivly
Death Grip - yes, but it's usually cast on a melee and melees got ways to come back to me :(
BoP - yes, but sometime's it's used on the DK to break blinds and such
Pet Gnaw - something DK should use to help me but they need all their stuff for offense.

I pretty much lose pain sup because I gotta give it away to protect wings against most teams.

man i would have loved to play with a dk and ret pre patch... so much off heals and damage! you must get a really high chance of killing someone every 23 seconds

To me you seem like a nice guy! but when that said you are not the one with the higest exp and i know it can be hard to find people with decent skill to play with on this server and all dat stuff but still!....
anyways your exp is okayish for rbgs i would say but atm i think we got alot of priests already in the pvp team in Iron Edge... and from your apply you seem kinda inaktive which i dont mind but it takes time to work on gettin better and findin partners to do that with...
but GL on apply tho

It was an issue with the servers being offline :(

Application looks good! Had a few chats with him before he applied, seems like a nice guy. Keep in mind that we are a little high on priests right now though, so might not be able to always bring you along.

Poke me for an invite when I'm on Waterpistol :)
