Title: RIP Steve Jobs.
Post by: Rucious on October 06, 2011, 12:12:38 pm
We have lost an important person. He surely made our life easier with his products. His brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. He wasn't selling you your dream but he was creating it!

For some of you, you might not care and some might care about him. Just say RIP and thats all.

I'm not a huge apple fan, but one can certainly say that he made a difference for the company (and Pixar). I mainly admired his presentation skills, which were very good, and I do like some of the stuff they've produced through the years. That said, it wasn't something that Jobs alone was responsible for, but a combination of all their designers, engineers and management.

RIP, cancer sucks.

I thought Sky would make this post... :)

Yes, RIP. He will be missed, both in Silicon Valley and in a few years in our homes. He really did play a rather big role in the computers we use today.

(I need to write about him today for my job... Gonna write about a 'world in which Jobs was never born.')

Gonna write about a 'world in which Jobs was never born.'

Same world, just some other company would have made an ipod/ipad/iphone etc. just maybe less neat looking but on the other hand probably also less expensive with a more "open system" ;)

Considering the phones at the same time as the Iphone and the mp3 players at the same time of the ipod, it was mainly just "how neat it was" that made the difference. My 2005 qtek (iphone is 2007) had the same features as an iphone 1 besides the appstore ( which Im not sure was released with the first iphone?) and it even had fm radio.

The app store was a cool innovation and I think thats the main thing apple has contributed with in the last decade.

dont worry apple is still there to take all your money for that shiney apple logo

People keep telling me that all these jokes about jobs death are in poor taste.

I think it's what he would have wanted. Do you really think he would have wanted his passing to be a PC affair?

People keep telling me that all these jokes about jobs death are in poor taste.

Some I've heard are truly terrible though, its okay you disliked what a person stood for, but some common respect are to be had.

meh

no matter what you think about apple's products, ethics or whatever, one can't deny that Jobs was a visionary, buisnessman and spokesperson. Especially if you do not always agree with the products and ideas, you should appreciate how well he can market and sell a product you consider flawed.

I don't prefer apple's products myself, doesn't stop me from having shitton of respect for the person behind that giant of a company. Just look at what he's done!

so yeah, RIP Jobs, great man.

Fred Shuttlesworth died too!

I'm so glad you mentioned this. Unfortunately, neither the media nor the people seem to care about a man who spearheaded a movement which fundamentally changed the lives of millions of disenfranchised people. It's sad that Steve Jobs died at such a young age, but it's even sadder that most people don't even know who Fred Shuttlesworth was.

Should make for an interesting article, lemme know when you've done it. The landscape would very likely be incredibly different, which says a lot for a single person's drive that they have such an impact.
