Soo... I asked my boss if my company would sponsor and IE e-sports team... and he said yes!
I was thinking a competitive DOTA 2 team.
The sponsor would provide jerseys at least, with branding on and stuff. Possibly flights and stuff, to events.
Two things:
a) Who is interested? (as in, actually willing to put in the hours to be COMPETITIVE. The idea here is to be as good as we once were in WoW.)
b) Can you think of other things that a sponsor can provide?
-
I know Footmunch were part of a competative Dota team at some point, maybe talk to him about setting something up?
-
Cool, will do.
Sparrowhawk, Pluug, and any other pros, are you interested?
-
Probably interested, but need to improve alot, obviously!
-
We will have TRAINING SESSIONS!
-
Which are like raids, but... DOTA.
-
I'll join in for that. Train to be the mascot if I get a shirt. Haha
-
Hmm maybe yeah.. If the team has some level into it. Also depends how many of these training sessions we have per week.
-
Well, it will come down to how much you guys think you need to train, to have a chance of winning :)
(And if you want to put in the time to win!)
-
-
-
-
-
however rocky is 1v1 training, team training is different than 1v1, you will need a coach who reads up on coaching :)

Yeah so you clearly need Scarface :D SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND
-
I really like the character of Scarface, but why did he kill his best friend and partner Manolo, they would have repelled Sosa's attack squad together. He was clearly sniffing too much cocaine(getting high in his own supply), which then lead to a series of mistakes.
If he wasn't high as fuck during the invasion of his house, he could open the door earlier for his other partners, who were shot in the back while knocking on the door.
-
-
Should we make a team of pro thread-derailers instead???
-
No one would be able to stand up to our overwhelming power at derailing
-
we have four montages. Just one more for a team of 5.

Big Troll Huntresa x)
-
Huntresa doing it wrong
-
Thought this belonged in here..
-
i would be interested in playing , sounds like it could be fun
-
Get Foot to come and reply, Feral!
-
Would love to practice with ya. But i have no Dota2 Key :((
-
we could give this a go and see wat comes out of it.
we would need 8-9 players for a team.
-
Palmar's to-do list:
1. Harass kawe to find/make a good logo we can all stick in our thing on steam, looks ftw.
2. Harass delling to create/get a banner from his sponsor to be stuck in our streams.
3. Get a pom-pon
4. Get this shit organized, we need a "Team" and then we need a "Roster".
5. Put down times for the main team to practice.
-
6. Pull Surim through games
-
I'll be doing a B-team for our lesser but goodlooking demi-Gods.
-
Can I be on the bench, for this B-Team? :D
-
Well, i've been talking about getting back into competative games for a few months now on TS, i miss my old days of competative halo and cs.
I'd like to sign up for the A team yo, so i can be angry and shout at people and be bad an so on.
-
lol sint :)
-
Well, now that you have a stable internet connection, it should be possible, Sint :P
To be honest, it will depend on whether we can attract people like Sparrow, Pluug, BanE, Darkwonyx. In all likelihood, us 'lesser mortals' would be in a B team, or sitting on the bench in case Pluug hurts his fingers :P
-
Im not gonna be in a team since dota is my secondary game but i will be here if you guys need someone to practice against(sometimes).
-
i would create a list with people that are interested and then have try outs.
to see who can play well and well with other people.
after all this is going to be a team effort not a 1man show and people like that got no place in a team.
unless its just about playing then u can just mix 5 people together and go for it
-
Sounds like a good idea, Food :)
Any idea what a sponsor should provide, except jerseys?
Pluug -- that's a shame... You could always be backup/B group.

Any flavour items from the shop(if there is going to be one ingame). If there is a flying pig courier, the team needs it. :)
-
I don't think I could send that email to my boss...
'Btw, we need a flying pig courier...'
--
Better if I just buy it, and send him my expenses, I guess :P
-
come up with a custom courier "IE themed" and then get steam to put it into the game :P
-
Darkwonyx plays for Team It's Gosu Esports in HoN, not sure if he'll do a transition to Dota2.. A professional IE team should be enough of a carrot to get anyone to take up dota though!
-
Y'know it just don't feel right making a new thread for this, so here it is in this one.
My autoexec.cfg for dota2! Enjoy. Your autoexec.cfg file you make should go in Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\cfg

Man, it looks like their console stuffs haven't changed since frickin' Half Life 1 and CS.
-
This idea will fall flat on it's face unless someone who is a potential team prospect, takes up the mantle and starts doing shit.
Ideally the better the player the higher chance of successful kickstart, but really, the most important part is a lot of dedication and willingness to throw time into this.
Are you still toying with the idea of leading this Delling? Because given that Pluug doesn't want to go hardcore into dota, and most of our pros are pretty disconnected, it might as well work to just building things bottom up. Grab whatever you have right now and then perhaps even start recruiting.
-
Yea, I'm not sure which way I want to go.
Building up from the bottom would be more fun, as it would mean that all the guys playing DOTA together would stick together. Trying to grab the pros would probably be quite hard, and getting them to work together might take some effort.
Would be good if we could get some more people from the raid group, though. Sapa, Pluug, people like that. I think teamwork is always gonna be our forte.
-
Here's a list of people who have expressed some interest in the idea:
Vorte
Surim
Delling
Sparrow - maybe
Feral
Footmunch ?
Sintrael
that's 7 people, and I'm pretty sure getting ghost on board should be easy. That's 8 people.
Can I suggest that those 8 people discuss a time for actual training? I'm thinking 3 hour sessions at least 2-3 times a week would be a decent start. And that if there are 10 people online for dota we focus on making those people play as much with each other as possible, assuming they're all down with the idea?
If sparrow actually wants to play the core is pretty strong, even without him sint/ghost/vorte/feral/footmunch or something sounds like a decent enough team, and delling is catching up fast enough. Might even be an idea to include him in the starting lineup from the beginning as he's likely to end up leading the whole thing.
Surim obviously has a bit of a way to go, but I mean... ground is quite easy to cover in dota and you can "cheat" your way to being decent quite easily by spamming few good heroes in pub games for a few weeks.
-
I would enjoy this. Personally, since I am not raiding anymore, Mondays + Thursdays will be great. Can make almost any day except weekends and Tue. Basically leaves me with Mon, wed, thur, and normally sunday.
As soon as this project finishes (just been extended again for more features), I will have loads of time on my hands again.
-
could give it a go
-
From around early April I'll have the time to play a fair bit of DotA 2 every day obviously I am interested in getting a lot better at the game, wouldn't mind joining in on practice sessions between now and then if I'm around and will be playing in my own time to get better. If I can get good enough maybe I'll try out for the actual team some day.
Good luck.
-
i got time most nights except for sunday im doing the braid alt thing atm
-
Depending on who's in the group (looking at you, Pluug), we'd probably do a weekday 'raiding' schedule. Mon/Tues/Thurs, or something like that, leaving weekends for fun games with the larger IE DOTA community.
Cool list, Palmar. Make a Google Spreadsheet thing!
-
cant believe i missed this thread but... yeah im interested
it just seems that alot of people here dont realise that the teams you will be facing have like years and years of dota experience as a pro team
-
Yeah, well, that's life.
What more can we do, but try?
-
not saying we shouldnt try but that people should realise it is going to take a lot of effort to get anywhere close to bieng able to compete
-
sounds like fun :) starting somethign from ground up is always challenging, isnt that wat makes it worthwhile? :) im free all days i can schedule my other stuff around urs
-
pluug for team leader!
-
pluug doesnt want to play.
make him banne
-
Withdrawing aswell.
-
If i weren't in China i would like to join :) but to high ping 500+
-
Aye mon/tue/thursday (and weekends?) sounds good to me, I'm still well up for this.
You can basically take Ghost as a yes as well, he loves competative gaming
-
Lamer, Sparrow!
Ok, cool.
So it looks like we'll have a bunch of B-rate DOTA players who need to get their act together to become PRO. Sounds like fun -- and sounds just like the original IE trial by fire in MC and BWL, and then Naxx :P
Would be nice we had the input of our pros, though (Pluug, Sparrow, Banne). You could teach us some stuff!
-
should warn you all, competitive gaming turns me into a huge rager :p
-
As long as the "don't be a dick" line isn't crossed I suppose being a rager is "okay". Maintaining your cool is always recommended though, you tend to be more popular that way.
-
still no one that cares enough?
-
I didnt read all, but who is suppose to be leading this?
-
I think the idea was originally that one of the pros would lead this.
But given the lack of actual stepping up, i think we just need someone to say "I'll do it. I'll put down practices 2-4 times a week and pick the team from the interested people"
Delling seemed to have an interest, if he wants to do it the whole idea is his and it'd be fitting he lead it, he also has the leadership skills required. Otherwise there are several people who have shown interest who can do it.
Just need someone to say "I'll do it".
-
My suggestion would be to set deadline untill Friday for signing in, and organise 1st game on Friday evening or Saturday with what you got.
Same like when you are building a house its important that you start somewhere!
-
I am definitely up for leading the team -- but it kind of comes down to whether I'm good enough at the actual game, I think.
-
Delling's the leader then.
Delling, now you pick a team of 5-6 out of the people who showed interest, and you tell them to show up 2-4 times a week at x time and you start grinding out games.
-
Sounds good. Will flesh out the details this week.
-
I formally express interest in being a part of this. I realise I'm bad but I'll put in the effort and the hours to get better and I also realise there's a skill gap between me and the next best player to fill quickly, but it's a challenge I'll gladly attempt. Also I won't be available to practice until the start of April around the 2nd or 3rd, if you guys consider me. Just think of me as a bench warmer / cheerleader that comes to practice sessions for now if you like. :D
-
This is the pool of players expressing interest:
Vorte
surim
Delling
Feral
Footmunch
Sintrael
Grishnag
Kili
Ghost
-
Can Foot and Feral and Surim start showing up in the evenings? So we can try some games out, see how they go?
Also, I'd still like it if Tyler or Palmar or Kawe signed up. The timings on the practice matches will be fairly easy going -- and you won't have to be there for every session.
-
im just waiting for my internet line to back up , will be back up tomorrow afternoon so i can from tomorrow.
-
im usually online every night.
ur mostly in full games dell
-
If I'm on steam, send me a message when you starting a game and I will come along. I just love being treated like a noob by fellow IE members. :/
-
Be on TS! Mayor's Office!
You could be in those full games too, Foot :P If you're around...
-
I can't commit. Like at all.
Too busy living the suburban dream. (I'm looking at houses now!)
-
im always on steam :P

So... Sint nagged me about this... and made a good point.
Let's try teaming up, just to see how it goes.
Me, Ghost, Sint, Vorte, Grish -- let's get together and do some 'proper' teaming-up over the weekend.
