Title: Edgefest 2012 - 15-17 June
Post by: Palmar on April 13, 2012, 01:52:35 pm
(http://i40.tinypic.com/1t662a.png)

Don't buy plane tickets or anything until Dell confirms the date.

So here's the deal.

Delling brought up the idea of doing a LAN at his place. This means we show up in southern England, play video games, drink alcohol and sleep in tents for 3 nights in June.

List of things I plan to do:

- Drink Alcohol
- Play Video Games
- Play Football (official IE match)
- Rage at bads
- Have a shitton of fun

I have obtained a licence to attend this thing. But just like probably every foreign guy coming in to England, booking the flight early is much less expensive than waiting. So it would be absolutely grand if people could confirm themselves early.

The idea is to show up on Friday 15. June and then play video games over the weekend, leaving on Sunday or Monday.

Delling is going to take care of power and shit, and probably think about other logistical things.

Obviously we're not going to sit in front of the computers for 72+ hours, so we're gonna do other fun things too... hopefully :D

Do expect to have to chip in for table renting and other costs. Shouldn't be too much. Just make sure you account for it.

Confirmed Participants:

Delling
Palmar
Tyler
Starbrow
Sintrael
Bison
Yoica
Hugman
Grishnag

We have a field that's large enough for football. And barbecue stuffs. And a swimming pool...
Title: Re: Iron Edge LAN meet-up! June 2012 outside London!
Post by: Palmar on April 13, 2012, 02:52:21 pm
Right logistical things:

We need a field to camp in, bbq things etc. Delling got those covered.

We need tables: Delling will look into renting/borrowing tables

We need computers: Everyone brings their own. Tyler/Delling might have some peripherals laying around? like I think Cwave is gonna bring his box and borrow a monitor from Dell.

We need to take care of food/liquor: I'm assuming there's a supermarket somewhere nearby, dunnoh about opening times. Might be worth stacking up on friday? (just do a group trip).

We need a football: Who wants this job?

We need to figure out which games people have to install/bring/pirate: Kawe will take care of this! (He doesn't know yet, or well.... he does when he reads this).

We need tents: Tyler might be able to bring in some extra, and delling has some floor space, but best if people can just bring their own.

We need lots of power chords and chairs: Delling hopefully can look into this and identify what we need extra.

Delling might have a TV by june/Hugman can maybe bring one: If he has one, we should consider how much of a hazzle it is for someone to bring a console and some games for extra fun?

Anything else you can think of!

Ye me and abyiss literally live 5 minutes walk away from eachother. He's a fatty tho, he wont be able to do physical exercise.

I am confirmed as coming, i dont have anything booked for June. Just need to figure out how i can get my pc over there.

I dont think anyone in my house owns a tent either, but i might be mistaken.

We/I need a selection of takeaway outlets for drunken food binges

How would I get from London-Stansted to wherever Delling lives? Does England have trains? Could I rent a car? Could I rent a bike?
Title: Re: Iron Edge LAN meet-up! June 2012 outside London!
Post by: Yoica on April 14, 2012, 12:55:56 pm
I'm not quite exatly where Delling lives, but Stansted is on opposite side of London. There are trains and a bus might be an option as well.

I suspect Gatwick is closest airport, but I don't know all the regional ones.
Title: Re: Iron Edge LAN meet-up! June 2012 outside London!
Post by: delling on April 14, 2012, 12:58:15 pm
Yep, easy enough to get from Stansted to Gatwick -- there'll be coaches, or you can train through London.

1. I love that picture of the dog on the bouncy castle.

2. I am 90% coming, just need to get the days off work.

3. Are we doing a full 4 days? I.e. Monday as well?

Transport shouldn't be that hard, most trains go to Gatwick pretty regularly (some every 15mins), same with coaches.

The car is quite small tho so I'm not sure I'd be able to bring my big telly for Bison's citadel, mayhaps I could get away with just bringing my small one.

I've played a lot of Supreme Commander at the lan's I hold, always goes down well, would like to give that a shot with you lot.

Also, serious sam. everyone loves serious sam. and killing floor, rock band, guitar hero, fightan gaems...

You get a pass, for exceptional service to IE over the years.

Abyiss -- yeah, there's about 5-10 people who want to come that I haven't met. I think it's fairly safe to assume that I'm not going to let them all come. I need to think about it.

Sint -- Armegatron! Supreme Commander is good. Need to find a torrent of the patched/cracked latest version. Bad Company 2 is quite fun, too.

Same for me - me and Safire will be flying back from Sweden that day so I'm guessing we could easily bump Into some people from Gothenburg. I doubt we'd stop for a few days but if it's reasonable Id like to atleast say hello to a few people, with dellings blessing!

Especially if side goes, we'll be in fisticuffs .

I'd like to say hello to Sidestep too xD And others as well. Not sure how many of people I know are going to Delling. But ye :)

I think you should bring me Safire as a gift, Abyiss -- you know, for running the guild for so many years, and stuff.

(Assuming you are mixing him up with Doom :)) Don't know if I'm a very good gift though :D

Malik -- not sure yet. Can't say I'm mega-keen on people I don't know very well coming, getting wasted, possibly being a nuisance, and then leaving.

I'd much rather this was about the gaming and the camaraderie -- so need to be careful it doesn't devolve into people shitting on my floor and hotboxing in my bathroom.

I don't mind driving. It only takes ~5.5 hrs including the train whereas the boat will take us around 10-11 hrs and costs twice as much.

I live near Delft and Cwave somewhere in Amsterdam.

As for traveling. I was thinking about going friday afternoon and leaving Delling's sunday evening or monday morning early.

Yes I'm talking about the Eurotunnel from Calais to Folkstone which takes 35min compared to 6-7hrs for the boat HvH - Harwick.

Btw, this thing will probably run from Friday evening until Sunday night. I mean, people can hang around until early Monday, but it's not going to stretch until Monday night.

Hmm, Split/second was one of those games i read about in Edge like 2 years before it came out, thought it looked fkn awesome and pee'd myself when it came out.

Then i played it and thought it was entirely meh and put it down after 2 hours and haven't touched it since...

I could bring it to edgefest tho if we want to give it another go?

That is not true Dell tho it used to be like that.

"European Union justice and home affairs ministers have given the go-ahead for citizens of Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia to be allowed to travel to the Schengen zone without visas from December 19 2009"
Now we just need to have biometric passport for this to work.

Split/Second looks fun man and it's available for Windows as well as PS3! I find games like that are terrible on your own aside from when completing challenges and getting achievements, if you're into that kind of thing? But when you're playing competitively with a few mates and you've got a winner stays on rotation going on, rivalries start to form and it makes it a lot more interesting! :P

Yeh its great for party play, even better when you dont know the tracks, and what will happen when you press then "carnage now" button.

really fun to play ..and really fun to watch.. so i would say a good racing game for 8 people to have fun with for a while

Oh dear god. I'm normally a very calm and merry drunk person, but if you introduce me to Rock Band drums, I will go absolutely crazy and break shit (unintentionally).

That being said, I can in no way confirm that I'm going, I would have to convince my gf to let me spend the weekend in England getting hammered with a bunch of people she's never met. I think the odds are pretty slim, but I owe it to all of you to give the discussion a go!

That being said, I can in no way confirm that I'm going, I would have to convince my gf to let me spend the weekend in England getting hammered with a bunch of people she's never met. I think the odds are pretty slim, but I owe it to all of you to give the discussion a go!

Why would she object to you flying down to meet a bunch of your friends?

awesome!

EdgeFest 2012 is ON, gentlemen!

Gonna book the tables, and buy a switch + cables this week.

Btw, anyone got a large number of Cat 5/6 cables? Or if everyone brought one, that would be cool, too.

Palmar must have access to a bunch of cables...

I can bring some, I'm only allowed one bag+hand luggage so between sleeping bag/mattress/laptop/peripherals/clothes/essentials I'm kinda strapped for space. But I'll definitely bring whatever I can fit, but it's better if people just bring their own.

I can bring a lot of cat cables.
Also, what games are "must-haves" for the weekend? I don't play shooting games that often but LAN parties are great for those.

Left 4 Dead. You can't go wrong with that at a LAN!

LFD 2, Battlefield 3 for those who have it.

Generally we also break out the old MOHA games for easy transferable shooter goodness.

Could also play the first dawn of war, It's got 8 players and it's pretty straight forward

You'd need a race unlocker to play with people. I think I've still got mine on an old USB somewhere.

Title: Re: Edgefest 2012 - 15-17 June
Post by: Douchebag on May 02, 2012, 02:14:06 pm
Age of mythology requires a load of work-arounds normally. And it has the tendancy to crash sometimes so that's a bit shit during a game

Nah me and bison did age of mythology a while back, worked fine.

I still vote for Supreme Commander tho, awesome LAN game.

Also, diablo 3 is out for edgefest. And we have dota.. Do we need other games?

List of games we can do

CS 1.6 (easy to find a crack if someone doesn't actually have it...)
Day of defeat (no idea where to find this one)
Starcraft BW (available at ICCup)
Starcraft 2 (gotta buy this one)
Quake Live (available online)
Heroes of Newerth (available for free)
half life deathmatch (see cs)
age of empires (probably easy to find a crack)
civilization 2 (can just be installed)
Left 4 dead (gotta get it on steam)
Team fortress 2 (steam)

List of recent games we're definitely going to play

diablo 3
dota 2

Has anyone considered bringing over some board games? Is that anything people would be interested in playing?

RL Mafia!

Civilization...2? I guess? Personally Civ 4 is my favorite (much better than Civ 5 imo), like we did a while ago and then we can just punch you if you take too long for a turn.

Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is a must, for those of you who actually want to play a skillful RTS.

Old WC3 games like Warlock (not sure if there is a SC 2 equivalent), TD's and other goodies are always good fun for LAN.

As Dell mentioned, Armagetron is pure win, especially when it gets early in the morning, and boasts are flying, and reflexes are slipping.

and dare i say maybe a game of homeworld

a) We don't have that long, so we can't actually play that many games

b) Some of those games are pretty damn long (like Civ, Supreme Commander, Risk, HOMM 3). Again, we don't have much time.

c) It would be fun to do some RL gaming, but again, takes up a lot of time.

--

DOTA, L4D, Armegatron, BF: Bad Company -- these are good LAN games.

Oh, and you REALLY need to come to the LAN with your games all set up and ready to go. For that reason I would avoid stuff like Age of Empires and stuff.

Did you mean BF: Bad Company specifically dell? A lot of us have bf3 now.

Supreme Commander only takes ages if u turtle like madmen for 3 hours, usually the games only last maybe an hour b4 someone gets miles ahead and smashes everyone else.

Plus you can limit it to like 300 units per person to make sure people don't stockpile giant armies of doom b4 they leave their area.

  • Liquor is allowed -- but please be sensible. If you get really drunk, I will just kick you outside. If you get really drunk and then act like a retard in the gaming room, you'll get kicked out of the guild (and I'll repossess your computer).

Good luck Abyiss!

List of games we can do

CS 1.6 (easy to find a crack if someone doesn't actually have it...)
Day of defeat (no idea where to find this one)
Starcraft BW (available at ICCup)
Starcraft 2 (gotta buy this one)
Quake Live (available online)
Heroes of Newerth (available for free)
half life deathmatch (see cs)
age of empires (probably easy to find a crack)
civilization 2 (can just be installed)
Left 4 dead (gotta get it on steam)
Team fortress 2 (steam)

List of recent games we're definitely going to play

diablo 3
dota 2

Has anyone considered bringing over some board games? Is that anything people would be interested in playing?

Nah, ignore that list of games.

Good question, Yoica. Will write something up later.

Also: Might be a good idea for everyone to mark their equipment (probably not necessary, but if you're travelling with someone who has the same monitor/keyboard...)

Should be enough to start with. Can also play Medal of Honour: Allied Assault if people want to do some Quake 3 engine gaming (you can just copy the files around -- no DRM to crack or whatever).

You should be able to find Europe > UK plug adapters in your local electricals/consumer electronics store. Otherwise, order one online! Should be cheap.

re: money... you can change some currency at your local bank. But probably isn't necessary. Might be easier to PayPal me money or something (I will probably be charging people a few pounds, to cover chairs/tables/etc.)

avoiding the most important question i see!

We have just gone from having the hottest, driest May in like 75 years, hotter than Spain; to the temperature plunging and having torrential rain straight for the last few days, starting the UK summer!  So I guess he is just being prudent, and not promising something he cannot deliver. If the weathers good, I am sure we will have a barbecue. but with the UK you never know.

The last few summers have been ridiculously hot, but turning up in shorts and a T-shirt, you may be a little under dressed.

Barbecue should be possible. I still need to do some more preparation stuffs. Will probably do that this weekend. As for somewhere to sleep -- I am sure you can crash inside if you want, but it should be easy for you to bring a tent, or ask someone to bring a tent.

Re. streaming; at uni, my upstream is only 900-1000k (so I generally only use 600-750 for streaming to avoid lagging myself too much, at least when playing online games). If we do some 5v5 or wahtever in dota or other game, especially if it's not an online game, it should be no problem for me to stream it. It might not be glorious quality (definitely won't be anything approaching hi res), but it will be completely watchable.

Main thing is making sure enough people have the game! If it's commercial, off Steam, then I doubt everyone will have it -- unless it's DOTA, D3, etc.

Ohhh, that reminds me! Left 4 Dead 2! That should be on the list too.

re: cooking... yes, there's an oven. Would rather not have people faff around with the stove though -- messy, time-consuming.

Sint's idea of bringing frozen pizzas sounds like a good idea.

There is a chip shop near by (5 mins walk). Dominos does deliver (just). Think there's an Indian place, too.

I have bought cereal + milk, though I doubt I have enough for 15 people to all have some, every morning.

Have also bought lots of meat for a barbecue (but again, might not be enough if everyone wants 3 burgers, etc.)

PayPal is fine (and recommended).

If you don't like pizza -- what do you recommend? Put it this way: I'm not cooking for everyone, and it will be utterly mental if 15 people try to use a single kitchen for every meal.

Yoica -- if you wanna make something, go for it :)

Ah, ok, well, as we get ALL THREE TYPES OF PEOPLE in England, we get kebabs AND shawarmas :P

The standard English kebab is slices of beef in a pitta bread, with stuff on top.

For me, a shwarma is usually wrapped -- in some kind of flat bread, I guess. You fill it with the same kind of stuff as a kebab, I think.

Right.

Well if you have quite finished discussing which foodstuff is called what, can we get back to the relevant questions that were asked, and will have an effect on Edgefest, but which have once again gotten overlooked in the trivial bullshit.

@ Nach. If no one else has a decent spare rig, I may still have my old one which you could use. It has been sitting in storage for about 3-4 years, so I don't know what condition it is, but if you want I could check. Likely it you would need to bring your own mouse, games, etc, and the screen with it was about 17" (Though Dell mentioned earlier he may have a spare). Its not brilliant spec-wise, but it should do the job if you can't borrow a better one. Let me know if you want me to go and take it out of storage and check it out.

@ Bison. So I may have asked this before, but since then Cwave and Tyler have passed on Edgefest, Do you have room for me in your tent? Are you assuming people are fitting in the "middle area" between the pods/divisions? I only ask this because the ground is already waterlogged, and its likely to not stop raining till the end of Edgefest, so that area might not be the driest on the day :P.

@ everyone else. Who else is bringing tents? Are there spaces?

Anything at all would be appreciated.
In fact, the more fun LAN's I've been at has been when people brought their spares and the rest halfdedicated themselves to playing games of the same era as the shittiest computer (Might and Magic rage has caused alot of screen breakage).

Screen will be a bitch for me to bring, but I can do keyboard + mouse!

Yeah I was going to ask that too, I have them on steam. I guess if we are using cracks we all need to use the cracked version?

How are you getting down to delling's from London, and when will you go?

Btw Star, I work up in London, I live down in the South (about 20mins from Sebastian's) so I am not coming from London. Don't have a car, so I can't give you a lift sorry.

I have Friday off work, so I am helping Sebastian and Palmar do set ups.

I guess the easiest way for you is getting a train to Three Bridges Station and coordinating with the other guys who will be arriving there, and sharing a taxi.

Forged Alliance is fine. We will patch and crack it. Everyone should start with the Reloaded ISO that I linked on some previous page.

Star -- Hugman lives near me. Works in London. Don't rely on him for transport.

Btw, anyone else in the UK still interested in coming? Abyss, Shankski, etc?

I can pick people up from Three Bridges. I thought Star + Kagir were coming down by car though.

More things to do, before you arrive:

Disable Dropbox, Backblaze, Google Drive, etc.

Again, please run a virus scan.

Please disable any non-password-protected Samba (Windows) folder shares.

Basically, we're gonna have like 10-15 computers on 2mbps upload. That's really pushing it, especially in today's environment.

This means everyone needs to be very aware of what they're doing on the network and how much bandwidth, especially upload, they're consuming.

All the things Delling mentioned are good. You can disable them from starting up from msconfig.exe. Just have a look at what your computer starts when you boot into windows and disable shit that's not required.

Update your anti-virus thing before you come, don't try to do it during the lan. Disable automatic updates too, you can turn those on when you're back home.

The output of this command: netstat -n -p tcp -b

Run in an administrator command prompt should tell you what programs you have running that are using tcp atm. Close all browser windows and let your sessions die, then run it. The results should be very few lines (5-20). This should also tell you the name of the processes using tcp. If anyone for example has that goddamned pando media booster (used to install lotro, lol and more) running in the background, we're fucked.

And I will find you and disconnect you.

For all intents and purposes, you're not meant to access the internet much at all outside of the games we'll be playing. Sure, a browser window with your gmail or something is probably fine, but don't stack 20 tabs that might even be running scripts or grabbing flash ads that refresh etc.

Disable your extensions in your browsers too.

IRC/simple browser windows/tiny clients should be ok. Obnoxious clients aren't. Unless you really need something, you should probably turn it off.

Get your steam games and downloads now. Patch all your games, blizzard and steam. If you intend to play it, it needs to be ready when you come.

I'm 1 hour away from finishing up this second to last workday before my ~3.5 weeks summer holidays.

The first thing I'll do is have an excellent dinner with Gerður tomorrow night, then I'll go early to bed to wake up and fly to England to play video games.

Fuck yeah, I am excite.

Btw, if you're driving here, poke me on IRC for a map to my house.

Also, if you haven't already, I would pack quite a lot of clothes. If it rains, you're gonna want spare t-shirts and trousers. Would bring lots of t-shirts, couple of jumpers, a jacket. A few pairs of socks.

BTW, I have ordered a bunch of network cables, so if anyone doesn't have a 5-meter one... NP.

Ah good, was going to ask.

Massively busy at work, but Nach should know:

So i checked my old rig last night, works fine, totally usable. I have the rig, a spare keyboard, and if necessary a 17" monitor. The main problem will be games, as I haven't used it in like 4 years, and it doesn't really have any proper games on it (apart from Armagetron and MOHAA!). So you will have to work out what you can do with it. I don't know what you were planning Nach, or if you had like a Steam account you were going to use or whatever, but ill may be a problem downloading them at the LAN, so you will have to work something out.

LAAAAAAAAAAAAN FEVER!

Left 4 Dead 2 (I think enough people have this, yes?)

I'll hopefully get as much downloaded as possible, but I'll bring an external drive so I can copy stuff off someone.

Basically my new computer got delayed 1 day due to Scan's homepage not being up-to-date. Then today, I found out that the CPU cooler doesn't fit in my casing - and since I purchased a OEM CPU, I need to wait until tomorrow to buy one after work at Yoyotech.

It all boils down to me having to start from scratch after the football game tomorrow :) I do have a fairly updated Steam folder with most games on a drive though.. AND a Dota2 key *phew*

So it turns out that leaving your headlights on of your car for 3 days is not a good way to conserve battery space

With that 1 action i tripled my Edgefest expences
It turns out that getting a membership right on the spot for the ANWB costs like 280 euros....

The ANWB is the dutch version of... i dont know what its called in england but basicly they come to you when you call them about car problems like a dead battery

My fruit box! Damn your black heart! Yeah it was a real pleasure meeting everyone, smooth sailing from the get go and jolly good fun throughout. Will be looking forward to EdgeFest 2013, and this time we should be blessed with Cwave and Tyler's presence so I urge everyone else to seriously consider it. Also I carved "Bison woz ere" on the underside of the piano

The lesson here must be to hang around on IRC and to look at the forums every once in a while. The thread has been in the top 10 recent post since March!

I had a great time meeting a bunch of guildies that I hadn't had the pleasure of seeing before. Was also cool to see those of you that I've bumped into before! Special big shoutout to Grishnag for showing up and saying hi after being around for so long. Next time around I might remember to bring a towel (thanks dell!) and my own pc (thanks Tyler!)...

Also, Palmar: Who doesn't like gentle stroking of the penis?

My Edgefest observations (was supposed to post this like 2 days ago, but forgot too):

Sintrael had indeed put on weight. However, I believe a decent amount of the weight he had gained, was premeditated, to the number of 3 inches of excess thick skin. He did this in order to survive the two whole days of almost constant "LOL Sint is fat" jokes, with nothing more than a grimace, and without ending up smothering any of you in your sleep. This was particularly admirable, since he was definitely several clothes sizes away from being the fattest there.

If he was faced with an awkward complicated problem, and someone told Palmar to "Ask yourself, what would Jesus do?", he would, inevitably after a lot of though, come up with the conclusion, to Noodle.

Anyone, upon spending more than a few minutes with Nachmann, would come to the same 3 conclusions: A. He is an easily likeable, very sociable guy, who probably gets away with murder quite often. B. You suspect that his real name is "Nachmann Skychild Moonflower". and C. That he should be holding a Tambourine.

Kawe is indeed a bold fellow. He was especially bold when he and his team were steam-rollering over us in Dota 2, and he was boldly commenting on it loudly to Palmar, who was on the other team, and trying not be trolled by it (to less and less success, as the louder and louder bangs on the table from his direction proved).

Kilizion is a very nice dude, and is more than happy to go purchase food for his fellows. This turns out to be very amusing, when he awkwardly tries to explain to the cute till attendant that the 3 boxes of larger, 3 large pizzas, and numerous sugary foodstuffs he had in his basket, wasn't just for him (though I was surprised he didn't go with the rote answer: "Its for Sint").

We played some pretty awesome games of http://armagetronad.org/, and while studying various peoples tolerance for high speed, checking their reflexes, and general comfort zones, I think I have got a very good profile of the vehicles they drive in real life:

Palmar:

Ghost: http://i49.tinypic.com/2h7m6gk.jpg

Nach: http://i46.tinypic.com/nb5itz.jpg

Grish: http://i47.tinypic.com/20tj986.jpg

We also played some Supreme Commander from which I learned:

Palmar thinks the plural form of the word "Gunship" is spelt "Grish".

Kawe feels that if someone is new to a game, and they are on the opposing side to you, you must, by law, inform them if you are going to attack them, with exact specifics as to what your forces can do, and exactly how to counter them. To do anything else is unfair. I think he feels this way, because he is known for applying this same logic, when he plays against inexperienced Dota 2 players on the opposing team to him. Also, if he runs his ground units into range of your stationary, small fixed range tower defences, which are placed in your territory, it is clearly a dastardly unfair offensive move by you.

From Team Fortress 2 I was taught:

That the Bow and Arrow is waaaaaaaay mightier than the Minigun (by Sint).

That a person wielding a giant fuck-off-claymore, is far more terrifying than rocket launchers (I think that was Kawe).

And that Palmar should never be in charge of Gravity.

Anyway, some more pictures:

And that Bladed Hand ordeal.. And my technological impairedness.. And any result of Delling being made aware of my penis size during his Norway visit.. AHHH LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!

Seriously though, looks like it was forklift-loads of fun, and I really, really wish I could have made it. Edgefest 2013!!

Hah look this hugman, he spends more time talking about my trashtalking him in supcom 2 than I spent doing it!

I might have felt bad for being obnoxious to Palmar in dota 2 if it hadn't been so darned fun. Anyway I think he took it well, especially given how hilariously the AR worked out in our team's favour :D

Also in that first photo it looks like Kili is pushing Palmar as though it's a wheelchair.

I don't remember much trashtalking of the snorewegians, I don't think it was really necessary to say anything when the evidence of the weaksauce that is Norway was right there, in the lack of any representative!

How did Kawe manage to pull off the exact same face on both Hug's pictures?!

Personal notes out of the obvious:

Sint appears a lot calmer and relaxed IRL than online.
Yoica likes Fjällräven.
I regret not seeking out Nach earlier. We grew up very close to each other and my parents still live there!
Delling's house is very nice and he has an eye for good quality - maybe a bit obvious. The surroundings and his family are lovely as well.
Ghost is a very good gamer - maybe obvious too if only I'd played with him before!
Dell and Hug's friends/cousin were also very nice guys.
Grish' mic is great - it's basically the same voice IRL!

I'm definitely a huge fan of Fjallraven's basic clothing line. I wouldn't buy their tents, backpacks or outershells.

Yeah Ghost was easily the best gamer at Edgefest.

the first hour and a half is great, gorgeous looking, really true to Geigers designs..truely feels like a space horror/thriller.. then just gets a little lost with the pacing of the film, the information it gives (doesn't give) you, there there is no real pay off moment.

I'd say a 7/10

Hey guys! Been busy with University results (got a First Class Honours yay!) and finding a job (should have something soon!). But I thought it time to post my pictures from EdgeFest 2012, bare in mind my photography skills are poor at best and these were merely taken to encapsulate the memories. Basically my photoshop skills aren't as great as Bison's, so I've had to censor Grishnag out in my own bastardised style. But if you came to EdgeFest and would like to get this small album from me with Grishnag included just drop me a message on Steam / IRC / Facebook / E-Mail or whatever and I'd be happy to send it! Because I had about 20 photos and the forum wouldn't even let me post them in groups of 5 (some time out error thing) I made a web album to view them. If the link is broken let me know, but it should work!

The album can be viewed here: https://picasaweb.google.com/110144209852366096251/EdgeFest2012?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCOOO58nb2tD_0wE&feat=directlink

Enjoy!

Possibly the best photoshopping EVER, Kili.

Soo... I have an idea for another Edgefest of sorts: i46 - http://iseries.multiplay.co.uk/i46/

Me, Fab, Max, and Hugman will be going (I think). Any of the Brits wanna come along too?

Wouldn't be quite the same thing as the Edgefest at my house -- it's one big gaming hall with 3000 people, for a start. But there will be quiet corners and stuff, I'm sure. And space to drink and eat and so on.

Lemme know if you want any more details. I've attended 20 i-series LANs or so...

humm

Can't recall i34. Was that at Stoneleigh?

But no -- new venue that they've only used 1-2 times I think. I haven't been to it yet. It's in Telford, IIRC -- near Birmingham.

Apparently doesn't have the same heat issues as Stoneleigh.

I don't think it will sell out -- maybe very close to the event, but I doubt it.

I suspect we (me, Fab, Hug) will buy tickets in the next couple of weeks. Still lots of empty seats, so seating everyone together shouldn't be a problem if we book in the next couple of weeks.

I'll see if i can pursuade Abyiss as well, altho he'll piss everyone off that's near him cos he's so freaking loud...

So, anyone dare commit to this? So we can start working out transport, sleeping arrangements, etc.

Sint, how would you get there?

Kili, you can get to Bison, then Bison can take you there?

We would need a smaller tent, too -- Bison's is too large. Unless, perhaps, we all go in there, and we leave Fab's tent at home...

Yeah, I also told Kawe I'd be able to take him too if he decides to come as the best airport for him to fly to would be Birmingham. The problem is getting my tent plus three peoples' stuff in the car if I bring mine, I dont think its plausible

OK, time to confirm if you're coming or not. It's getting hard to grab blocks of 5+ seats now.

This one's a no-go for me. I think one expensive trip down to england a year will have to be it for the time being, sadly. Enjoy the iseries!

If Mal is a definite, then I am. I'm away at the moment so might be a while before I can get on the forum again. Get him to text me so I can arrange getting a ticket.

Acting as a go-between for two people who suck at using the forum... fun :P

Get him to text you yourself!

Last I heard, he was waiting to see if he was free that weekend. Some birthday thing.

Sint's waiting to see if he has money.

I'm kind of relying on him for the lift when I get into Birmingham, so until I hear from him I'm afraid I can't confirm!
