Title: Your favourite Film thread
Post by: Kaos on October 20, 2006, 09:40:23 am
Well I don't think I've seen an excellent film in ages, though some of my favourites have to be; Usual suspects, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Resvoir Dogs (notice a trend here) as well as the usual selection of sci/fantasy of LoTR and Star wars (old trilogy ftw!)

While there's tons of shit, during all those years there are definitely too many great movies to choose my favourite one (zomg classic Hitchcocks, 70/80's stuff like Alien, screwball comedies of the 50s...) . Therefore, I'll just list those that spring to my mind which I enjoyed watching during the last months:

Crash (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375679/)
Transamerica (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407265/)
11:14 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0331811/)
Twelve and Holding (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417385/)

and some blockbusters like SW:Ep2 (guess I'm one of the few who like that), both PiratesOfTheCarribean and even the new WarOfTheWorlds (for visual and sonic overload).

My favorite movie must be Crouching tiger, hidden dragon. I'm really into asian movies, so a few others comes to my memory...Hero is a nice one as well, the old classic black/white Seven samurai...and actually The last samurai was quite good, must be Tom cruise's best(or only good) role.  ;D

I will join the ranks of Tarantino-followers, I especially like Kill Bill, both of them, preferably in quick succession :P

I am a sucker for Westerns, so "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" is an alltime favourite movie for me. Basically Leone was a master in my mind.

"The Incredibles", "Toy Story 2" and "Finding Nemo" are favourites for me as well, if asked about comedy. "Ghost in the Shell" is an incredible anime, as is the movie adaptation of "Akira", even if many think it was poor compared to the manga. My hidden dark secret is that I immensely enjoy "The Lion King", even if it is a blatant ripoff of "Kimba the white lion". (http://www.kimbawlion.com/rant2.htm) Disney are bastards to the core. Evil evil men ;D

"Army of Darkness" needs to be on this list as well. Last (there are undoubtably many more, but I can't think of them at the moment), but most definetely not least, is my favourite movie (I think): "The Shining" (the absolutely, unequivocally, no-contest scariest movie of all time. Period.).

Hmm, so many good ones to choose!  Forest Gump is one of my favs.  Star Wars rock, Neverending story (for the sake of nostalgia)...I know I am missing a really major one, but too tired to remember it.

P.S. Saw grumpy old men earlier - I forgot how good the classic comedies were.  I couldn't breath from laughing :)

Seven - thriller movie, was quite young when I first saw it, was pretty blown away by this one  :)

Rocky III, where he fights Mr T! that ones quite fun from time to time  :P

The Football factory - Keep thinking that Bifftanner is one of the guys when I see it from time to time now  :P

And how could I forget PoTC, both of em Kick ass! Long live Jack Sparrow, only thing that annoys me with the second movie is the ending, when they get that boon for captain  :(

Forest Gump wins

I see we have some fans of 'trip' movies...

I saw a film recently, but I can't recall the name of it for the life of me. It was kind of cel-shaded... Definitely trippy. Was about some guy getting inside some government agency... that handled... stuff...

Blah, I'm useless.

Someone already said Star Wars old trilogy... I loved Matrix (untill 3rd part :/ ) thats about my SF side.

Though I am not a big fan of Shakespeare I was stunned by Pacino's role in The Merchant of Venice. I could say that I liked Pulp Fiction very much. Classics like Unce upon a time in America (Italian mafia FTW)...

These days u cant find a good movie, its like... they are all made under same pattern, inluding plastic babes, guns, drugs... Very predictable scenarios...
