There, now we got that out of the way, I'll also break down animus/mangos into different categories and hopefully the thread will evolve somewhat in a timely fashion whenever I feel like actually updating it.
The categories I can think of from the top of my head is Moeblobs, Classics, Seinen (ma$ter category), Shounen and artsy fartsy shit. Also Comedy, but Japanese comedy is wierd as fuck and I'm pretty sure that everyone will have a different view on our cousins in west and their humour (or lack thereof).

Rapidshare is OK when you need to get hold of a oneshot or something. You can also do the IRC download thing, but I've tried it and it's really annoying and silly.
Protip: Get uTorrent, download animus, ???

Woah, haven't used DC++ in forever. I remember it being pretty good, but I think most groups release first via XDCC and torrent before anything else (could be wrong...). It's also definitely a lot more time spent doing setup and odds and ends with DC++ though.

I know a lot of DC hubs that get releases very close to scene release -- usually because the couriers/dumps are on fast connections... and thus join DC hubs :)

I was just walking around looking at the locals bbq-ing, taking photo's of them, but mostly them making photo's of me when the younger guy you see left on that photo came up to me and asked to join him and his "family" for some biru=beer and "eat". Alot of my rl friends have tatoo's, so someone comming up to you with tatoo's is nothing special, atleast not in most parts of Europe and for me. But ofc. i should have known better in Japan. (Also you can see on the second photo that there are no other groups sitting around them. The other side of the beach was packed.)
Straight away they pressed a cold beer and chickenwings in my hand and wanted to know where i was from etc. etc. So a couple of beers and chickenwings later i found out he was some kind of prospect who didn't had earned his mark yet, which is needed to be able to put the colors in his tatoo.
Shortly after that he started pulling out some of the shirts of those older men to show me how a complete proper Yakuza tatoo lookes like and told me i could make pictures.
So Morb started shooting pictures as fast as a minigun shoots bullets. :P
Never had i the feeling i should watch out, they where very polite and curious about how things go in Holland/Europe.
And they also, as good as they could, explained alot of Japanese culture etc. They didn't talked about the Yakuza part tbh, and it wouldn't be polite from me to start asking about it. (Maybe not very smart also)
All in all one of my finest (social) moments i've had when i was there.
Anyway i'll stop now, since this is a post about anime, not about Morb's holiday adventures in Japan :)

Yeah, I didn't mention Angel Beats in the end; felt like it was a strong series when watching, then ended weakly and ever so hammily. So it's a little tougher to recommend. Though it definitely gets huge bonus points for logo graphic style and audio usage (more things everywhere should make use of piano). Another series that suffered a similar weak ending after setting up an interesting world was Pandora Hearts (alice in wonderland motifs all over the shop).
On the theme of k-on, I'm terribly sorry for this awful awful pun. KyoAni really knows how to create a warm feeling with its animation style, pretty reminiscent of ghibli in that respect.

Older files aren't a problem if you visit a good trackers website. BakaBT's older torrents are all public and very heavily seeded too, for example.
If your ISP throttles P2P traffic, you should stop giving them your money if at all possible, and give it to someone else. Vote with your wallet.

I second this, while not the absolute best anime I've ever seen I rly felt like Bones created a masterpiece, the entire show just felt so complete and at the same time so much fun to watch
