So... some of you might be wondering what happened to the OLD funny pictures thread. The truth is... Tyler deleted it. Copying a leaf out of Cwave's book, Tyler surfed while tired and drunk -- and then his fat finger hit the 'Delete' button.
Anyway, I COULD restore the old thread, but it would be a real pain in the ass (I would have to look through the backups). Does anyone really care that the old one's gone? I think there might have been some fun WoW screenshots, but nothing else 'important'.
How about we begin with everyone sharing all of their IE screenshots, from past and present, and we'll go from there?

Right indeed! It was very brief, but fun while it lasted. Found a few other good ones, the first is our contribution to a blizzard christmas competition (for those that remember we did well in that), the other is from way back when IE made a treasurehunt even sending people all over the world. The second is random bits from various screenshots I have.

Kaos wasn't with us in Naxx, Goza was in middle cause he was using those rose petals or smt. It brings memories for sure but my favorite server first was Patchwerk, everything else looked like walk in a park back in days.

Well I remember Kaos discussing which wing we would go to first -- we wanted to clear the Death Knight wing, but he said no, the Spider wing would be the easy one (which was internal information at the time).
I guess we did the Gorbag Train just before Naxx, then :)

Note that loot-train happened a month or two after our Nefarian kill, I know it because of Gorbag's taking of everything he could possibly ever use from Nefarian and I am quite sure they killed it just before us or smt like that.

Yeah, Kawe -- but you had more like 8 or 9k health at that stage. Malchezzar kill was around 12-13k health, I think.

Think it's fairly well acknowledged that melee DPS have by far the hardest/most stressful job in WoW.
Tanking is hard, but much more predictable, and less reaction-based (especially in modern WoW).

Tanking was never really hard except for those nasty moving, stancedancing fights from Vanilla. Hardest part was sucking up in rest of gameplay outside instances when we were full prot, we were hard to kill but generally unable to do anything else either. Compared to melee DPS tanking was piss easy since there are not nearly as much ways to fuck up and generally suck. Note that You can't really compare Your MT with anypne else in raid while comparing one DPS to another is quite common, same goes for healers, You can always compare them on meters and point fingers... I am not sure how it is for healers these days but I am quite sure that they had toughest job back in Vanilla followed by DPS that had to CC, interupt and then we had Grishnag DPSing stresslessly with a broken bow.

I also struggle to remember any fights where the tank had to do movement that the rest of the raid (or at least melee DPS) didn't also have to do. Taunt rotations aren't exactly complex, and other than that tanking was mainly a matter of maxing threat (at least in vanilla/TBC). The advantage of movement as a tank is also that most of the time you decide where to go and the boss just follows you. As DPS, you've no idea where the boss will be taken all the time, so reaction is more important there.
I think my most stressful time as a druid was DPSing in Sunwell with swiftshifting, managing several debuffs and movement required at the same time to squeeze those last bits of DPS out of the spec. Healing comes next, tanking was (and is) a lot more faceroll-like. At least we have six more abilities to use in bearform while tanking now than in vanilla, yay for diversity..!

Problem with tanks is that if your tank is bad at something it becomes immeadiately obvious - normally the raid wipes. If a healer is bad, others can cover. If a dps is bad, even more to cover.

Its not really like that Matt, though it is obvious that tank sucks if he stands in fire its not really easy to notice small things that really matter in long run, mitigation and avoidance aswell as threat generation are things that You can't compare with other members of raid and notice the issue asap.

Actually, with omen you can compare threat generation rather easily by looking at the amount generated at say, one minute into an encounter. That said, stuff like mitigation (which avoidance is really a part of) is a much more diffuse thing, and will only show up in healers feeling "weaker/busier", and the difference between a tank just surviving that hard-hitting ability right after the huge AoE phase or dying. Proper timing of defensive cooldowns (if a tank has such things, I certainly didn't in vanilla) is also another factor that is harder to measure.
As for covering your fellow raiders asses, this is harder with smaller raidsizes. On two healer encounters, one person is 50% of all healing done and then that last 5% healing output really matters...

Txtspeak is a full-blown dialect. Some kids/young adults have grown up with it for 10+ years. It's ingrained in their soul!
There are some truly awful cases though, where you basically don't save any letters and turn it into a completely foreign word. But I guess every dialect has in/slang words...

Nah, that's just a common misconception, that we're 'destroying' our language (every writer before us, even Shakespeare, thought that we were destroying our language).
We're just changing it.
It can be said that our language is perhaps becoming less expressive -- we don't have 9 end-cases like the Latins, for example -- but we also have lots of new words and constructs that they didn't have.
Reminds me of a case a few years back where an English teacher had to fail students for using txtspeak in essays...

There's nothing wrong with txtspeak - provided that the person writing it actually knows how to write correctly in the first place. That picture with stuff like 'dudee' and 'tones of people' is just out'n'out laziness or bad; and additionally, txtspeak only works when the abbreviations in it are formed by someone who knows how the words are meant to be - otherwise it's prone to just becoming garbled mess that requires time and perhaps facepalm to convert into workable info.
