Iron Edge Open #3

Iron Edge is happy to announce the return of it's IEOpen Starcraft tournaments.

If you want to sing up, write down your name and race you play and possibly your ladder rating if you have any or describe the level of competitiveness. Please leave a comment on this article for sign-ups.

This post will be updated to reflect the people signing up. We will be using a seeding format to ensure excitement throughout the tournament. The format hasn't been finalized yet, but we plan on doing an open bracket that will then converge with a pro bracket to find out who is the best Starcraft player in this town.

Signups are open to anyone that stumbles upon this page, with a maximum of 36 players signing up. It's highly doubtful we'll get even close to that number.

The tournament will happen on SATURDAY 16TH APRIL. We will start at 20:00 server time/CET (that's 21:00 for Finland, 19:00 for UK).

Map pool will be:

BE AWARE! Those maps don't allow spawning in close land positions!

Player who lost a game will pick the next map from this pool. All the games will be played as best of 3, finals will be bo5.

First map in each matchup is Metalopolis, then loser picks the next one. The play advancing to next bracket picks the first map in the matchup.

I am glad to see quite a few people interested so fast, keep them coming.
Right now I am thinking of running this show in a week, so that would be saturday - sunday 16th and 17 april, or possibly friday - saturday, whatever will work, but I am guessing lot of people might be out drinking on friday.

If we can make it within 1 day, and unless we get absurd amounts of people we should. Then let's setttle on saturday 16th april. Depending on how much time we'd need we could either start at 19:00 (server time, CET, whatever) or 20:00. If we need more time, we could do few rounds and matches earlier and start at 14:30 and then take a break for 2 hours for dinner and shit.

So SC2, Kesh let me know and i figured i might as well give it a try!

Lets see, i haven't played for almost 4 months i think, I played  :terran, and will most likely play them again. Might try some games when i reinstall it and see if i change it.



I've read alot about streaming, but will there be some observers in the games?

So, here's my idea for brackets.

Top 2 = common sense, sparrow and I are really good. If it turns out sparrow won't make it, I'll just sit out of the tournament, and the winners from ro8 will just play semi-finals, instead of the double semi-finals

Next 4 = the top dogs from the IE stats excel chart made by kili, it can be found on the guild only starcraft forums

rest = randomized, but Narw was supposed to be where Cwave is and vice versa, but Narw is really good and Kawe isn't, so I swapped Narw for Cwave to make for an entertaining game between Kawe/Cwave.

Technically if we allow eetion in, he should take fowaty's spot, who should in turn take kili's spot.

But for the sake of fixing the brackets to make for more even matches, I suggest we stick Eetion in for Vorte, and put Vorte in Tynx's spot.

There will have to be streams since apparently MLG maps have only 2 spectator slots.

Another problem is, the rounds will be played at once, so all those matches will be happening at once.

But quite a lot of people are capable of streaming, so it should be fine.

Also you shouldnt be afraid to play, most of the people are forever bronze or forever silver, the fun is important!

hmm...

I wanna do it like this.

1st game is on metalopolis, then loser picks

for the second round, the person that advanced from the first round will get to pick a first map. That balances out the disadvantage of having to fight through the brackets.
