Post by: Applicant on August 10, 2020, 12:53:47 am
Hello, Iron Edge!

I am applying for the main raid.

Character: Vellera
Server: Draenor
Armory: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/Draenor/Vellera
Class/Spec: Paladin (Healer)
Member Type: Raider

Personal Info:

Ryan, 32, England, Currently I'm working self-employed in the building trade, I also study with the Open University (distance learning) during the evenings on a part time basis.
Battletag: Vell#2117
Discord: Ryan#0949

Class/Spec:

Main Spec: Holy - I have only ever raided as a healer, I don't enjoy playing DPS and have no interest in tanking. I only use my off-specs for dailies, questing etc.
Current equipped ilvl is 475

Beacon usage - kept on the active tank or another raid member that is taking constant damage.

Glimmer of Light Build
The focus of this build is the spreading of the buff to as many allies as possible by casting as many holy shocks as possible. Glimmer of light is now capped at a maximum of 8 targets.
Stat Priority: Haste > Mastery > Critical Strike > Versatility

The spell priority for this build is:
Holy Shock on cooldown
Light of Dawn if it will heal 4-5 injured allies
Crusader Strike to reduce the cooldown of Holy Shock
Holy Light/Flash of Light as a filler depending on damage intake and current mana levels

Talents for this build focus on maximising the amount of holy shock casts

Tier 1: Crusaders Might
Tier 2: Rule of Law
Tier 3: Situational
Tier 4: Devotion Aura
Tier 5: Holy Avenger
Tier 6: Sanctified Wrath
Tier 7: Divine Purpose or Beacon of Faith (if encounter has both tanks taking constant high damage)

Avenging Crusader Build - Was default until 8.1, is still viable and fun to play but glimmer of light build is stronger overall.

Stat Priority: Critical Strike > Haste > Versatility > Mastery

Outside of Avenging Crusader this build follows a standard spell priority for single target & tank healing or for raid healing

Single Target/Tank Healing

Holy Shock on cooldown
Bestow Faith on cooldown
Holy Light/Flash of Light depending on damage intake and current mana levels
(For periods of low/no damage)
Crusader Strike
Judgement
Consecration

Talents:

Tier 1: Bestow Faith
Tier 2: Rule of Law
Tier 3: Situational
Tier 4: Devotion Aura
Tier 5: Holy Avenger
Tier 6: Avenging Crusader
Tier 7: Beacon of Faith

Raid Healing

Holy Shock on cooldown
Judgement on cooldown if speced for Judgement of Light
Light of Dawn on cooldown if it will hit 4-5 injured allies
Holy Light/Flash of Light depending on damage intake and current mana levels
(For periods of low/no damage)

Judgement
Consecration

Talents:

Tier 1: Bestow Faith
Tier 2: Rule of Law
Tier 3: Situational

Tier 5: Judgement of Light
Tier 6: Avenging Crusader
Tier 7: Divine Purpose or Beacon of Faith

Avenging Crusader Priority

Crusader Strike on cooldown
Judgement on cooldown
Holy Shock on cooldown
Holy Light/Flash of Light depending on damage intake and current mana levels

Alts:

I have every healer at 120, I have not invested a great deal of time in to my alts since I returned to the game.

https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/kazzak/Vellnara

Professions:

My paladin has enchanting and alchemy. I have alchemy for the double flask duration, ability to make own flasks and potions and for the trinkets which is pretty strong early on in an expansion. I have enchanting as I like to be able to make my own enchants instead of paying the generally way overpriced values on the AH.

My priest has alchemy and tailoring. Alchemy is for the same reason as above. Tailoring is for the ability to craft my own gear and bags.

I also have Jewelcrafting and mining and herbalism on alts to be able to supply myself with the resources that I need.

I will likely re-shuffle some of my professions on my alts for shadowlands to ensure that I can continue to be self sufficient.

Raiding Experience:

Battle for Azeroth:
Uldir - 8/8 HC 8/8 Mythic - G'huun
Battle for Dazar'alor - 9/9 HC 7/9 Mythic
Crucible of Storms - 2/2 HC
(Killed N'zoth heroic for the mount, no achievement in that at this point in expo)

Legion:
Emerald Nightmare - 7/7 Mythic
Trial of Valor - 3/3 Mythic
Nighthold - 10/10 Mythic

Warlords of Draenor:
Highmaul - 6/7 Mythic
Blackrock Foundry - 6/10 Mythic
Hellfire Citadel - 13/13 Mythic

Mists of Pandaria:
Mogu'shan Vaults - 6/6 Heroic
Heart of Fear - 6/6 Heroic
Terrace of the Endless Spring - 3/4 Heroic
Throne of Thunder: 4/12

Cataclysm:
Dragon Soul - 4/8 Heroic
Firelands - 2/7 Heroic
BoT - 5/5
BwD - 6/6
ToTF - 2/2

Previous Guilds:

Epic - Twisting Nether (Officer + Raid Leader):
I raided with this guild for the entirety of cataclysm, the guild was able to kill a few bosses on heroic but the members where very casual and had no drive to push for heroic progression, the raid team went their own way to pursue their goals once MoP was announced.

Prime - Twisting Nether:
Joined this guild at the beginning of MoP. This guild disbanded during Mogu'shan Vaults heroic progression due to conflicts within the officer team.

Fun Light - Twisting Nether:
I joined this guild after Prime disbanded, I raided with them for the rest of Tier 14. The job I was working at during this period required me to work until 11pm every night of the week in exchange for never having to work raid nights, which had been fine up until the end of ToES progression when I started a relationship with my now fiancee, the work arrangement meant that I was either working or raiding and would have very minimal time to spend with my other half so made the decision to step down as a raider and ended up quitting the game entirely until near the very end of the expansion.

New Era - Draenor (Officer):
Joined this guild when I returned to raiding at the start of the WoD, unfortunately several key members of the raid team (both tanks, a healer and 2 dps) were not satisfied with the somewhat slow progression during HFC and all left after raid one evening, this resulted in the guild disbanding.

Rock Paper Scissors - Kazzak:
I then joined RPS. I raided with this guild for the remainder of WoD and the first tier of Legion. During nighthold progression I enrolled with the Open University (distance learning) to study full-time and work during the evenings. This change of circumstance meant that I had little time to spend in game and I started to fall behind on artifact weapon level, after we killed Gul'dan I decided that it would be best to step down as a member of the raid team. I then took an extended break from the game, returning late in the Argus patch and spent the remainder of the expansion doing the mage tower challenges.

Monstars - Draenor (Officer):
Prior to the Launch of BFA I changed from studying full time during the day and working evenings part time, to working full time again and studying part time in the evenings, this enabled me to commit to raiding again. This guild was a more casual guild and was run by a good friend of mine and he offered me a spot in the guild whilst I looked for a guild that suited my needs. I helped out with healing officer duties to help out my friend whilst I was in this guild.

Status - Stormscale:
This was my most recent guild. I left this guild and took a break from the game as BFA is, in my opinion the worst expansion that has ever been released for this game, this combined with disagreeing with certain decisions that where being made by the guild master involving alts of friends in another guild being taken to raids over core raiders caused me to lose all motivation and interest in the game, instead of looking for a new guild, I decided to simply quit instead.

Availability:

Being self-employed I finish work whenever I want to, I can also flex my study nights around raid nights. In short I can raid any day of the week. Currently have no holidays planned due to the pandemic. Will be away all next week as I will be attending my grandmothers funeral who lived several hours travel away from where I currently live.

Communication:

Yes, Yes and Yes

Computer / Connection:

https://www.speedtest.net/result/9856937807
i7 - 4770k @ 3.50GHz overclocked to 4.20GHz
16Gb RAM
EVGA GTX 1070 SC
SSD HDD
My FPS sits between 60 - 80 in raids. My internet connection is very stable, very low ping and near 100% uptime. Have attached a link to speedtest result above. My ping to Kazzak is in the low 30's.

Addons/UI:

https://imgur.com/a/H3aQ6EK
ElvUI + Shadow & Light - Replaces the terrible basic UI, offers lots of features and is highly customisable
WeakAuras - Tracks spell cooldowns, buff durations and debuffs, I also use this to track the major raid cooldowns of the other healers and abilities such as darkness and rallying cry
Angry Assignments/ERT - Used for keeping track of assignments for each boss
Details - DPS Meter
BigWigs + Voice - Tracks all relevant boss abilities
Plater Nameplates - I initially used KUI nameplates, I switched to plater during G'huun progression as it supported a weakaura we was using that highlighted the nameplate of the add that was fixated on you. Have stuck with it since as I like how customisable it is.

Other Games:

I don't play other games these days, as my time is somewhat limited I prefer to spend it on WoW.

Why Iron Edge?

When searching for a new guild there are two main things that I'm looking for, the first is a progression focused raid environment, to be around like-minded individuals who are prepared and focused during raid time. The second is that the guild has a solid community aspect, my time in RPS was some of the best times I've had in WoW and this was primarily due to the guilds community. From what I've read on your wowprogress page your ethos matches what I'm looking for.

What can I offer Iron Edge?

I consider myself to be a dedicated raider, I'm punctual and maintain a very high attendance percentage, an example of this is during the sixteen month period that I was a member of Rock Paper Scissors I only missed three raids during that time. I'm come to raids ready and prepared, whilst I'm focused during raid time I'm still able to have a laugh as there is little point playing a game if you don't enjoy it. In my previous guilds I was an active participant in tactics discussions and preparations. I'm always looking to improve myself as a player, as such I'm able to take criticism positively and learn from my mistakes. I have played the game for nearly a decade and feel that I have a good working knowledge of the game and the majority of classes, I have raided at a cutting edge level on several characters and I'm generally willing to switch to a different healing class if needed, although I would rather play the reactive style healers rather than the proactive.

Where did I hear about Iron Edge?

Hey there Ryan,

Sorry for the slightly delayed response.

Looks like you've written a very decent application. I'd like to offer you a trial when we start raiding again in SL, you can whisper an officer in game for an invite.

Cheers,

Nashor

Hey,

No problem, I've been away from home for most of this week anyway.

Awesome, I'll start the process of moving realms in a couple days once I get a few things sorted
