Raider Application - Druid (DPS) - Zelthemad
« on: August 19, 2015, 07:18:13 pm »
Hello, Iron Edge!

I am applying for the main raid.

Character: Zelthemad
Armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/Kazzak/Zelthemad/advanced
Class/Spec: Druid (DPS)
Member Type: raider

Personal Info:

Hello, and welcome to my application! I am a 25 year old Computer Science student from Norway, Trondheim, with one year left of my degree (5th year).

Class/Spec:

My spec is feral druid, ilvl 707. I don't really have any experience or desire to fulfill any other roles on my druid.

Well, feral druids are not in the best spot right now, we offer little to the raid except high burst during imporant dmg phases, and a little off-healing. We have bad cleave, and don't shine on single target either, even though this is our best spot, however I hope my experience and attitude makes up for the weakness of my spec atm.

Priority system for feral druid.. John madden!

Pre-pull:
Healing touch
Prepot (3 sec)
Incarnation (2 sec)

Build 5 combo point, apply rip then pop Berserk, getting 3 FB during the berserk.
Then it's keeping bleeds up while trying to get as many 50 energy FB's as possible without dropping bleeds. Reapply bleeds if they are 150% stronger. Try to get a strong rip for sub 25% as you keep it on for the rest of the fight.

Alts:

I have a blood deathknight with ilvl 685 that I like to play with in alt-raids.

Professions:

I run engineering and jewelcrafting, for a few useful tinkers for raiding and being able to craft my own gems. I've had these professions since WOTLK, when they provided reliable benefits that you wanted to have to maximize your character.

Raiding Experience:

I've played on-off since launch in 2004.

I raided all through MC to Nax in vanilla in one of the more hardcore guilds on Dunemaul, in an Alliance guild called Twenty Four Seven, the top guild on the server behind Guardians Of Freedom (Later Fate). I was a resto druid back then. (Zelspawn)

In TBC I raided for some time with some real life friends, taking a much more casual approach to the game. After this I completed my high school and had military service for a year.

I returned in Wrath and after raiding with some friends I wanted to try the toughest content and migrated to Turalyon and joined the guild <The Last Watch>, here I raided 5-6 times a week clearing the hardest content available as soon as it came out. Grabbing several top 100 kills, and server firsts. I played that entire expansion as a feral druid, and I quit raiding when the expansion ended and I started university.

Cata: Did not raid, did some pvp / rated battleground, before quitting and did not return before late MoP.

MoP: Returned during SoO and joined a norwegian guild as a social and raided once a week in their alt raid.

Previous Guilds:

In WoD I started playing with a group of university student and we raided through Highmaul before people slowly quit and the guild fell apart before BRF. I then joined another norwegian guild, but they shortly after transfered to Alliance to try to get more players. I decided to stay horde, so I found a new norwegian guild on Kazzak, so I transfered here and played with them through BRF heroic, we did not have the numbers to try Mythic. As we finished BRF we took a summer break and when I returned this fall the guild had fallen apart and I had to look for another guild yet again. Last week I found a scandinavian guild and joined them for a run through HFC heroic, only to log on a few days later to find that the guild core had merged with another guild, and I didn't really have a hope of joining them since they just accepted so many players.

Availability:

I have exams in December, but don't think this will affect my raiding much, as I try to keep a steady work rythm so I have time off in the evenings even during exams.

Communication:

I am fluent in written as well as spoken english, I have a microphone and teamspeak 3.

Computer / Connection:

My rig:

i7 920 @ 2.67 GHZ
6,00 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760
64 bit windows 7 professional

Living next to the university I share the university internet, which is generally around 90 mbps down and 40 mbps up.

Addons/UI:

BadKitty, I use this to track my debuffs as a feral druid
Exorsus Raid Tools, for Iskar
DBM, for raid warnings
BLT Raid Cooldowns - For tracking cooldowns in raid
Weak Auras (For tracking procs and to help decide the strength of my bleeds on target vs the one I can apply in the moment)

For forming my UI:
MikScrollingBattleText
TidyPlates
Skada
Bartender
Shadowed Unit Frames
Grid + GridStatusRaidDebuff

Other Games:

I play some dota 2, around 4300 rating. I also have a big collection of steam games.. Currently playing a little x-com long war and Civilization V.

Why Iron Edge?

I'd like to end this expansion with some fun, stable and serious raiding on a light schedule. It has been very frustrating jumping from guild to guild. I'd also really love a challenge and have not found it in heroic raiding. This has me turning to mythic and you guys seem like a perfect fit.

What can I offer Iron Edge?

I am a calm, reliable veteran player who has been through a lot of wipes and knows what is expected in high-end raiding. I have played feral for thousands of hours in a raiding environment so I can focus on encounters and not tunnel vision for DPS. I try my best to maximize my character and show up to raids expecting the best from myself and my fellow raiders, with no slacking and good focus to achieve high progress in the limited time we raid.

Where did I hear about Iron Edge?

I found you guys on wowprogress, and your name popped out as I remember Iron Edge from vanilla wow.

Last Words?

Cake. Oh and thank you for reading this far, and thank you for your consideration.

Hello Zelthemad,

I am sorry but I have to decline your application. We already have a good roster of melee dps and as you said yourself, feral is currently not the greatest. Also the lack of mythic (or heroic before SoO) experience since Wrath is troublesome, I don't think it falls in line with what we want to achieve this raid tier.

Good luck on your future endeavors!
