Good evening fellow geeks.

So I bought a Full HD LCD-TV this afternoon, the Samsung LE32A557 with a Monster 200 HDMI Cable and a HDMI->PCI adapter so I can hook it up to my computer. Now when I do that, I don't get the results i was hoping for. My desktop doesn't fit in my screen and the screen is a bit vague. It's hard to explain but it's just not right. It's running on a 1900x1080 resolution and the Nvidia configuration is set to 1080p automaticly once i hook up the LCD.

My GFX card and Motherboard both support HDMI so it should work.  But im using a Asus M3N78-EMH HDMI Motherboard, and a Foxconn 9800GTX graphicscard if that helps.

Could anyone help me fixing this shit? I do have the recent drivers installed etc. I just don't know what else to do now. I'd really want to have it properly working on my computer.

Thanks in advance.

HDMI -> PCI? What's that?

Your monster TV should have a DVI socket on it. Use that.

If you are doing HDMI -> D-Sub, you might be losing something there.

Other than that... make sure the TV is displaying @ 1920*1080. Check some configs on the TV. Maybe some flag has to be set for it to actually go into 1080p mode.

I assume your PC just sees it as another attached monitor, and you have the resolution set appropriately in the normal place.
Now I run a tech website.

The TV should just have an HDMI in or more likely several.

Yes, the TV has HDMI in, but his computer obviously doesn't have HDMI out (unless the translation is pretty far gone...)

I don't know of any straight pin-swap cables for HDMI <> DVI...

So he should most likely be using DVI <> DVI.

I use a "HDMI to DVI Adaptor".

But they gave me another HDMI cable at work, a 300 monster one, and this seems to work better. So i'll try something else this monday.

But thanks for the advice btw, I think i'll go for devlins cable if this doens't work after all.

And the TV has a HDMI slot, but my computer doesn't, but it DOES support HDMI.

DVI and HDMI are of the same quality/format hence such a connector works. However, a HDMI cable also can contain audio and a DVI cannot...

using my regular old VGA cable to my LG tv, since my the HDMI/DVI cable didnt work. Considering getting a HDMI/HDMI cable and using the transformer i got with my GFX card for changing the hdmi into dvi for the computer socket

I tried using a HDMI - HDMI cable.  Fails.
Used a DVI-HDMI cable. Fails.

VGA-VGA - Works as a beauty. With great quality aswell.
