Hunter and Warlock, X-realm
« on: November 02, 2008, 10:18:46 pm »
Greetings Iron Edge from Lionizer the BM Hunter and Shilla the Destruction Warlock!

We're looking for a new home for Lich King, but available for transfer with immediate effect of course :)

Lionizer's application on top - scroll down for Shila's.

Personal Information

My name is Lars, I am 30 years old. I live in Copenhagen, Denmark and work as a systems administrator/developer in a small company that works with video on the net.
I have programmed a few WoW addons in the past, and I have developed and maintained new features for guild websites in the past.
I enjoy photography, snowboarding and rollerskating.
(I know, I know - this feels very "I enjoy a good book, candle-light dinners and long walks on the beach"-like)

Character Information

My gear can be seen here:
armory
be.imba
I have full 8/8 T6 of course and optional pieces for most slots, and with each patch or gear upgrade I mix and match to get the highest possible dps.
This will all soon be irrelevant with LK although my initial calculations show me that I will keep most of my current gear until mid/end of Naxx-25.

Talent spec: 50/11/0 - exotic pets are still not very useful
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=cgbMzgxRmuzeox0eMo (I might move the one point in invigoration down to cobra strikes - haven't really decided yet if I am happy with my mana or too happy with my mana)
I try to always use the top-dps spec - so expect to see me at 51/10/0, 54/7/0 or something else if exotics get fixed or trees change in other ways. Might go MM at 80, but at the moment the advantage is very theoretical and thus not really worth it imo.

I was a strong follower of Cheeky, and now look to Shandara for my theoretical dps output and to help me pick out my "wardrobe" ;) ( http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t30710-hunter_wotlk_dps_spreadsheet/ ).
I read both Elitist Jerks, Big Red Kitty and (on occasion) official forums.
I also have some good hunter-friends that I discuss with both in-game and RL.

Raiding

I can raid all days 18-24, more on weekends. Historically I have close to 100% attendance. For LK I will try to average 3-4 attended raids per week since I need to take care of RL as well.
Every second month I will be gone for two days due to work, and of course other work related stuff might pop up - but does so very rarely.

I have a 4/1 mbit/s cable connection. Very stable, average 50-75ms, wired ofc. Also the router is UPS powered.
We don't have any brown- or blackouts here, but better safe than sorry :)
The PC is quite new and powerful too and doesn't give me any problems. Full gfx settings at decent framerate even with full AOE going on.

Gaming (optional) and World Of Warcraft history

Pre-tbc I started the game somewhat late, but after being 60 for a few months I knew that I wanted to raid and so I managed to get myself into a "MC guild". Some of us were trying to push forward and others were happy farming MC forever. I was CL and RL for some months leading up to TBC launch, and was trying hard to push forward even with the expansion closing in on us. We managed to get Razorgore and all of AQ20 minus Ossirian.
In TBC I started out fast to avoid the same thing happening, and managed to kill all bosses up to and including Illidan before any nerfs Blizzard decided to "bless" us with. I was also one of the "lucky" few designated to the team dragging the slackers through the SH timed run to get people attuned to TK.
After Illidan died, Shila decided she wanted to play a blood elf, and I followed. The change to horde side pushed us back a bit, but we were determined to get back to old level of progression as fast as possible.
I knew already from the start that orcs had a racial advantage, but I had a big bad level 46 tauren hunter already - so grabbed that one to get a head start. We managed to kill Kil'Jaeden a couple of days before our old alliance guild ^_^

Why do you want to join Iron Edge?

Iron Edge seems to be a proper guild with a good social environment and good PvE progession rate.
I plan on levelling really fast and hitting LK raiding hard, expecting to see many server firsts - and I believe you can help me achieve that goal.
I also like that fact that the guild has offday runs to old content and the sheer size of the guild should make it easy to find people to team up with whenever you want to do an instance or a group quest.

What can I offer to Iron Edge?

I am consistently among the top of the dps classes, and usually on top of hunter meters. I give very high, sustained dps with high survivability and extreme knowledge of my class.
I am also quite social and will often tag along for instance runs or old world pewpew. I have been Officer, CL and RL in the past giving me some insight to how guilds and classes function.
I always put the guild first meaning I am always on time and prepared for raids, and ready to step out or pass on loot if someone needs the spot/loot more than me.

Last words?

I've searched long and hard to find Iron Edge and hope you can manage to squeeze me into your ranks.

-Lionizer aka Lars

Personal Information

I use name Shila in rl and in WoW (unfortunately it’s been already taken on both my current server and Dunemaul). I am 30 years old female. I was born in Poland and I moved to Denmark around a year ago. I don't have a regular job at the moment (tho' learning Danish itself is a hard work :P ) and I probably won't search for one any time soon, therefore I have a lot of spare time.
I love cats, horses, metal music and all sorts of rpg. I'm a bit of a freak about healthy food and lifestyle, staying fit is very important for me, so if I'm not online you can pretty safely assume that I'm running/rollerskating along the Copenhagen beach or sweating in a gym.
I am rather an introvert, tho' I tend to be very straight-forward to the people I trust. I am a perfectionist, therefore I always search for better solutions, never satisfied with my current achievements. I have an open mind and the only things in other people I can't tolerate are ...intolerance and plain stupidity.

Character Information

Shilla (will be renamed to Shilah if I transfer), Blood Elf, Destruction Warlock

Current Server
Runetotem

Armory Link

in case the armory fails: http://www.armory-light.com/eu/Runetotem/Shilla/
and http://be.imba.hu/?zone=EU&realm=Runetotem&character=Shilla
While you're reading this, Blizzard might still be slacking with updating my armory profile. I recently replaced my trinket [wowitem]Timbal's Focusing Crystal[/wowitem] with [wowitem]Shifting Naaru Sliver[/wowitem].

My talent build
My current talent build 0/3/58 seems to be one of the the most efficient in the end-game content at the moment, it’s also the most popular one among top Europe/world warlocks. The future will tell what build I have at lv 80, tho’ of course it’ll be the one giving the most dps and/or utility in raiding environment. Most likely it’ll also evolve over time…

Raiding

Availability
I can promise attending 3 to 4 raids per week. Of course if the guild is very close to a new kill I'll always do my best to show up even if it's the 6th raid that week etc.

Raiding experience
I started to play WoW on the 27th December 2004 (pre-release). I raid since spring 2005, killed all vanilla-wow bosses save one as server firsts (with holy paladin, also later partially with feral druid and fire mage). I also experienced all PvE encounters pre-2.4 WoW had to offer with my paladin and some with feral druid. After defeating Illidan I rerolled this warlock just to discover that I should have chosen this class very long ago, because it simply suits me better than any other I have tried so far (meaning all but shaman). I have experience as an officer, head of guild healers responsible for designing healing strategies for boss encounters and as a class leader working as a connection between the classmates and guild leadership.
With my warlock I experienced most of TBC end-game content, including full Sunwell Plateau.

Other 70 lv characters
My former main character, holy paladin on Emerald Dream: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Emerald%20Dream&n=Shilah
my other 70 lv alts:
feral druid http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aerie%20Peak&n=Yleen
fire mage http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Shadowsong&n=Sheala
I do not play any of them anymore and I have no plans to go back to Alliance side ever again.

Theorycrafting
To be totally honest I don’t really like many calculations, so I figured I need something to do them for me -  rawr and leulier spreadsheet are my close friends  ;). I read a lot about my class (EJ, official forums, The Warlocks Den etc), I'm open for my class/guildmates' suggestions. Whenever it's possible I watch movies about boss encounters I already experienced as well as those still awaiting me especially from a warlock's pov (tho' not only, since sometimes for instance healer's pov can provide better overview).

My UI
I replaced every single visible element of Blizzard UI with an addon one. Still it's mostly Ace-based, so not so heavy and anyway I have a nice PC (and a steady connection) able to handle even much heavier interface and graphics changed to total maximum with the console commands.
Screenshot: http://lionizer.dk/wow/shilah/sunwelltrash.jpg (some parts of the UI are visible on-mouse-over and therefore hidden here).
I am a dedicated keyboard user. I use numkeys (with alt/ctrl/shift modifiers) to cast all the spells which need fast access (more or less all I use in raid encounters), the rest is bound to 1-0 and alike, I move with my left hand (w/a/s/d etc) and sometimes with mouse if it suits a given fight better than keyboard movement.

PvP/PvE:
I dislike pvp, killing other players simply doesn't appeal to me. I did pvp only in order to get some pvp rewards that can be useful in pve or to help my friends with their arena teams. I am 100% pve focused.

Why do you want to join Iron Edge?
At the moment I’m a member of Protectors of Chaos. While raiding with them might be ok (maybe apart from extremely long wipe recoveries), the way of handling the loot is unacceptable for me. When I decided to join PoC I had had no previous experience with so called ‘Loot Council’ and the idea seemed pretty good to me. Unfortunately the reality proved it to be simply unjust in many cases rewarding officers and classleaders with items that were much more needed/suitable for others.
What’s more, I’d love to have a chance to experience again the sweet ‘I’m a king of the world’ feeling of ‘server first’ kills I know so well from raiding pre-TBC.
In my opinion joining Iron Edge would solve all the problems that make the raiding less enjoyable for me.

What can I offer to Iron Edge?
I am an experienced and stable player (around since WoW Beta and still no burn-out :)) I am a quick learner, ambitious, patient and thickskinned enough to survive constructive criticism, always prepared with bosstactics&consumables, willing to sit/step out if someone else could use loot/rep more then me.
I can focus during 5-6 hours of wiping, I am able to both listen to the orders and think on my own. My attendance never dropped below 90% (while raiding 5 days per week).

Last words?
I strongly believe that no matter how good you are, there's always some room for improvement.

Seems like two well written applications. I've got a question for you two since I can't seem to find it in your application: how did you find out about Iron Edge? Did someone tell you, do you have any friends on Dunemaul etc...

1:Do you know, and are you prepared for that 80% of the guild's population (Mostly the F&F-part) are mentally unstable retards?

2:Do you play DotA?

3:Are you a couple?

4:Do you like Brazilian Fart Porn?

5:Are you achievement-whoring?

6:Can you stand trolling from all the jealous no-brainers of Dunemaul?

7:Did you stay awake 24/7 during the BRAAAAIIIIINNNNSSSSSS-event?

8:Can you tolerate (or ignore) mocking of certain ethnic groups?

Just a couple of questions. If they do not scare you too much, you're probably all set.

Was I too mean there? :(

On a side-note: Looks like you put down a while into your applications, that's always appreciated! And you sound like awesome raiders. (Not that I'd know..)

Hi Bouncy ^_^

Ino, We were browsing through all european realms on wowjutsu, checking out the highest ranked guilds in regards to many criterias like
- whats their eu rank and how does it compare to other guilds on same server
- raiding schedule
- dkp system
- open spots
Finding a new home is serious business. Especially since we hope to find a home we like and where the people like us. A place we can stay for all of LK hopefully :)

No, we didn't know about the retards, but I am sure we can cope :)

We don't play DotA, and in our everyday life we don't have the time (work, sleep, eat, wow, repeat)

Yes, we are a couple. We met at a guild meeting august last year and have been together since :) We're both pro raiders though, so there's no risk of "piggyback package deal" if that's what you're really asking.

No. Just no.

I am a big achievement whore. Shila is trying to keep me sane.

We've been exposed to that for several years now. I believe we can cope. We try not to have an arrogant, elitist attitude towards people out of guild. They can be very nice people even if they aren't at the same level of skill WoW-wise.

No, we were quite bothered with the brains and tried to avoid it.

Sure, making fun of minorities is ok - until the minority in question asks you to stop, then the fun ends.

Edit: Thank you for all the replies already. We did notice the questions last night around midnight, but since I have to get up super early every day we saved the answering for now. And now I'm late for work  :'(
Feel free to poke us some more, should you have any more questions - we will try to answer fast.

Oooh, so innocent! I like it!
I have to warn you that we have a huge variety of personalities within the guild, some more despicable than others.. You somehow learn how to love them all eventually, though.. (JACAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA TE PIJA SVIIIINJAAAA!)

(Sorry, I'll stop trolling you now, and leave the replying to the people with influence!)

Hej Lars og Shila

Nice application it seems couple applications are in style, sadly I dont think my girlfriend will ever start playing wow.

Always nice to see fellow danes in the guild, (at least when they dont act retarded, a thing they sadly often tend to do).

Good luck with the application

Good luck!

Heya.

Thanks for the great applications!

The hunter we can take seriously, but warlocks have long been a stable class in IE. In the past 2 years, I don't think we've raided with a new warlock for more than a handful of raids (the few raids we took 5 warlocks on...)

Moving to WOTLK, the plan was to hopefully cut back on the warlock spam... and depending on how successful Blizz are at balancing DPS and buffs, we'll see how that goes.

ANYWAY...

We don't have a space for a raiding warlock at the moment.

A space for a raiding hunter... yes, that's possible (we have 3 raiders, but I wouldn't mind taking one more on).

So I guess it depends if Shila wants to idle around in /g and wait for a space in raids, or if she'd be happy with doing the 10-man content!

Or who knows, someone might drop out between now and 80...

But if either of you decide to join IE, you should be aware that we're a very full guild, and I can't guarantee any kind of raiding spots at this stage in the game. Lots can change between now and 80!

-D

Good application.

Nevermind Grilly, he's special.

Just to add to Delling's thoughts (if you were wondering, he's our raid/guild leader), and all the other spam that's been going around. We're a very big guild, and we consist of many different types of gamers. Sure to say, raiding issues are very rarely discussed in guild chat, since they can't really get their thoughts in between the pvp whines and spamming.

Part of the guild idles and waits anxiously for raids to end so we can start playing Dota!

But we are very social, and we've got many different personalities in the guild, so if you decide to hop on board, you will find there are people you like here, and no doubt you'll dislike some of us. Thing is, you can't have it all in a 200 person community.

Anyway, if you're okay with the terms Delling has set forth, you should definitely join. It's my firm believe that you won't get a similar gaming experience anywhere else.

More couples! How many do we have now?
Trolls are awesome!
