actually... I feel the carries are way too fucking strong in hon, and some strength gankers too.

I'm not so sure... While a fed agi carry in hon is quite strong, the whole huge aoe vibe seems way more prevalent than in original hon, and agi carries can get eaten by that pretty hard. Overall, I always feel a little less safe playing an agi carry in hon than in dota. If I got fed on say, troll warlord in dota, I felt pretty much completely untouchable, wheras if I've been fed on madman I can sure murder a hero or two if they're alone, but in the big 5v5s it feels a lot easier to die to aoe than in hon.

I prefer the slightly cagier and safer style personally, where there's less aoe and more focus on target picking.

is it out yet?? :P

well u can always counter a carry somehow if team is more or less equal.

I personally think HoN is just an improved dota and must admit when I saw my brother play hon first time I got so confused of all the aoe thingies I couldnt make out but that took like 4-5 games and I got used to it :P

Quote from: Dota-utilities.com
Coaching & Training System:
Once again, Valve is coming with a great innovation of coaching system which will be used to train a beginner to learn DotA 2 to sustain a respectable position in the community. It will allow veteran players to login as a coach. Coach can see beginner's screen and can get private voice chat during the game.

Now that is quite awesome. I hope we get the same player base as in the good ol' DotA, the 5vs5s was a lot of fun. And now we can have people spectate and coach the newbies!

That is a pretty funny feature. Would be useful in lots of other games too.

Two danish teams? Wtf?

Also, this seems a bit out of the blue to me, as I've yet to see anything proper from dota2...

1 Million USD prize, just extreme! ( good effect on advertising though.. )

Also no Korean team tittled as " most elite " team in this championship? They're losing it..

As far as I know it's going to be properly announced and hopefully released at the Gamescon in Cologne, which would make us assume that all the teams listed have been beta testing for quite a while.

I think their blog is failing tho... Shouldn't it be better to get us more hyped by keeping us up to date rather than saving it all for the release date? This way they would also get more feedback from the community or what is to become the community.

Copy pasted from the hon forums.

"Mineski Infinity:

Facing certainly more well-known opponents and more experienced players from all over the world, do you think your team has a chance of winning? Do you have any specific strategy in mind? How about studying (the replays) or training to counter any particular team(s)?

Dota 2, has a very different gameplay as compared to DotA. There are some heroes that are very strong, due to the fact that the traditional counters to them have not been released yet. We are still observing and experimenting with some imba heroes. As for the other teams that we have played with, I can say they are all pretty strong and talented as individuals.

Erik Johnson: DOTA 2 is a competitive game that borrows elements from action games, role-playing games, and real-time strategy games. The gameplay is very fast-paced, but rewards players for anticipating their teammates' and opponent's decisions, rather than rewarding twitch reflexes. Over the course of each match, which generally lasts less than an hour, you get a full RPG experience where your character starts with very little resources and skills -- but over time, becomes orders of magnitude more powerful. And while it has the camera position of a traditional RTS, you only (generally) control a single unit and don't have any base construction tasks to worry about.

I like that they have the fast paced gameplay, i think Dota was too slow. Or at least it feels slow after having played HoN so much.

Or just get to see... Anything. I'm not a huge fan of it being super fast paced, as it increases the risk that it's really horrible to watch for non-players. I think HoN is pushing it in terms of pace in teambattles sometimes where I simply cannot follow what the fuck is going on most of the time. That comes down to gamestyle though, but it slightly slower gameplay makes for better spectating joy.

Image from Kunkka who made the earlier Dota loading screens, and just like those, this one is based on the characters in-game, in this case from Dota2.
