Raider Application - Warlock (DPS) - Voxoul
« on: July 03, 2017, 01:13:31 pm »
Hello, Iron Edge!

I am applying for the main raid.

Character: Voxoul
Armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/Kazzak/Voxoul/advanced
Class/Spec: Warlock (DPS)
Member Type: raider

Personal Info:

The name's Viktor but I go by Vox almost everywhere and to anyone. I'm a 26 year old lazy nerd who is currently unemployed and being more lazy than usual. Which means I have a bit too much of free time. Both good and bad. Currently live in Helsinki Finland but I'm born and raised in the much superior country of Sweden.

In my free time I spend a LOT of time playing games. This should give you some indication... When I'm not playing games (and also during) I love to listen to music. Avid metalhead and enjoy most types, from power and glam all the way to black. Favorite band is The Black Dahlia Murder, not only great music but these dudes are amazing live. And when not listening to music I usually have a show running on the side, typically Scrubs. Best show ever made, nuff said.

Class/Spec:

I'm playing Affliction because it was the leveling spec and I just fell in love with the playstyle. Never thought I would as I've never been a fan of dot classes... But there was something with the Malefic Grasp spec that was just so very satisfying.

Current ilvls are:
Affliction: 920 equipped, 928 weapon with 58 traits.
Destruction: 913 equipped, 907 weapon with 52 traits.
Demonology: 911 equipped, 910 weapon with 42 traits.

I don't really have a static offspec. I did funnel some stuff into Destro as I like the idea of it but I only have the legendary ring Alythess's Pyrogenics for it. But if needed I'll spend a couple of hours hitting the dummy and running LFR/dungeons to get a feel for it.

For Affliction I have all legendaries apart from Sephuz and the new chest The Master Harvester. I've got the new ring Soul of the Netherlord, the head Hood of Eternal Disdain, and the belt Power Cord of Lethtendris at ilvl 970. I can upgrade one more currently and soon two. Not quite sure which ones yet as it's all depending on what gear I get and what I can swap around for different specs for different fights.

I've only been playing the class since just before Nighthold but I go in hard when I start playing a certain class/spec. I'm always checking in on the Discord, compare Icy-Veins (even if I'm very much against the site) to WoWhead and Discord theorycrafting in general for differences and why. And on top of that I tend to follow Yipz who is currently raiding with Limit on the US servers. That guy is pretty damn knowledgeable. And last but definitely not least, there's the site Lock One Stop Shop where a lot of top tier theorycrafters collect their results.

For stats it's generally Haste=Mastery>Crit>Vers for Single Target.
For multiple targets Haste goes ahead a lot, especially on shorter fights. More haste = more globals to throw out more dots.

For Destro this changes to Haste>Crit>Vers>Mastery so the gear is kinda interchangeable. But I'll definitely have to read up more about it if I were to switch. Currently Affliction is still very strong for most fights and my current gear and legendaries makes it the best spec for me personally. That and a lot higher mobility.

For single target fights the spec I'd use would be 3111213 or 3111212 if Siphon Life is needed for the extra heal over RNG. Soul Conduit and Siphon Life are very close with Death's Embrace being very situational but also very good for certain bosses during progression. And since i have the new ring I get this trait and could still roll with either SL or SC.

Priority for single target would be: Keep Agony, Corruption, and Siphon Life (if specced) up. Refresh these before a drain phase. Cast 2+ Unstable Afflictions and drain (If possible cast until I'm sitting at 2-3 Soul Shards as to not cap during drain phase). Keep draining until UA's are gone or Agony is about to fall of. It's not an issue if the others fall of but Agony is just like the name, pure agony if it does. That's just the basics though and I will try not to bore you with all of the procs and RNG that comes with this spec.

For two target fights I generally go with the same spec as above but with Writhe in Agony instead. Some fights like Demonic Inquisition and Desolate Host it's better to grab Absolute Corruption over Contagion as you won't always be around the targets, for Desolate Host you could dot both the physical and the spirit bosses.

Currently it generally boils down to "What spec do you want to run?" and spec that as most talents are very close this time around which is awesome. There's always that one spec that lets you abuse some mechanics or make the fight easier for the first few times or progression, but I really like the current talents and where they are at.

Alts:

The only alt (former main) worth mentioning is my Paladin Voxer. I raided from ICC up to Nighthold as a Holydin and in my heart this will probably always be my main, but healing this expansion has been... Sort of a let down for me at least and they took my aoe healing away >:

I do have a couple of other alts at 110:
Obscurumvox Frost DK with Jewelcrafting
Voxcrucio Resto/Guardian Druid with Herbalism and Mining. My beloved farmer
Voxvolvens Brewmaster/Mistweaver Monk
Voxatory BM Hunter, would probably be MM but BM was the leveling spec I went with and I just kinda stuck around with it as I didn't go into the class more.
Voxdaemonia Havoc DH because... Everyone has to try the new class, right?

Professions:

I'm running Engineering and Alchemy, both at 800. Engineering because no one in the raid had it so I got Jeeves and Reeves and of course the nitro boost on belt. Sadly this collides with pot usage these days... Why Blizz? And Alchemy because I like making my own pots and flasks, and extra duration of flasks, who doesn't like that? Lacking strength flask at rank 3 (after almost 100 flasks since the patch that upped the proc rates... Gotta love that RNG!) and sadly only Old War at rank 3 so far as I only use Prolonged Power... Which I'm also waiting for that world boss to spawn for the second time ever and maybe get that recipe.

I have 800 cooking with all but Crispy bacon, Deep-Fried Mossgill(225 haste), Fishbrul special, and Azshari Salad(375 haste) at rank 3. So if you need help with feasts or any other food in general, throw some mats my way.

I have Engineering and Enchanting on my Paladin, most enchants are rank 3.

Oh and fishing. I've always been a fan and have the new relic for both Warlock and Paladin with the more important traits.

Raiding Experience:

I started raiding when ICC opened. I played on and off on private servers since the beginning of TBC. Played on official servers since the end of Ulduar.

So for ICC forward:
ICC: cleared everything up to Lich King 25HC, never got it as melee loved to stand in the black pools.
Pretty sure we did get The Ruby Sanctum down on heroic though.
For Cataclysm we got:
BWD: 4/6HC with Omnomnomitron and Nefarian still standing.
BoT: 4/5HC with Sinestra killed during Firelands and even got the achievement
Throne: 2/2HC
Firelands: 6/7HC with 2-300 wipes on Ragnaros. Killed him once DS opened.
DS: 8/8 HC

I burned out hard on dailies in MoP. I did one run of Mogu'shan Vaults and got 4 or 5 down on HC a couple of weeks into it releasing with some friends. Came back for Throne of Thunder and did all but Dark Animus and Lei Shen on HC and then burned out again.

I came back for Legion and started out a little slow-ish but still got:
EN: 7/7M down on new years eve.
ToV: 2/3M never tried Helya, we got Guarm down and said "Fuck it"
NH: 4/10M. This is where it took a dark turn of people being burned out and real life hit and other stuff. We got 3/10 pretty early and swapped leadership and management, I went from raider to officer and we tried rebuilding. We got very close, had a full group of 20 for Krosus and a week after it started dipping again and the guild went R.I.P. on the 26th of June.

Previous Guilds:

For most of ICC I was in a horde guild on a server I can't even remember anymore, moved to Bronzebeard Alliance to join Echo at the end of ICC.

Stayed in Echo until Firelands where I joined Epoch on Bronze Dragonflight and stayed until the end of Dragon Soul. I followed a friend from Echo to Epoch and wanted more progression.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe I went to Kazzak during MoP and like I said, raided with some friends early on and then joined back with Echo during ToT. The guild died out sometime during my absence of WoD and I went from a couple of guilds until I found Twisted Vortex during Emerald Nightmare. Raided with them until numbers were dwindling down and we merged with Halcyon. The merger went sour and the two guilds stayed two guilds and never really combined. I was left in the middle during this, I was on good terms with both guilds I thought, but once Twisted Vortex basically just left during a raid night I was still in Halcyon and had no idea they had been planning to leave and haven't heard from anyone since. So I stayed in Halcyon and tried rebuilding. And as I mentioned in the experience part, it went... Slow. And then full stop.

Availability:

As mentioned I'm currently unemployed and available pretty much at all times.

Communication:

I'd say I know my way around the language, I think I still have TS3 installed, and if not, give me 2 minutes and I'll be up and running, very familiar with the software. I have a microphone and I like to use it.

Computer / Connection:

My rig is not run by hamsters, has lights in in, and is kept cool at all times. Sitting on a 1Gbit line and have no issues raiding, even if I would be streaming or having a lot of other things running on the side. Latency sits around 40-45 home and world.

Addons/UI:

I use a lot of addons, mostly QoL ones. But the ones I use for raiding include:
ElvUI. Neat package of everything with easy configuration. Shadow and Light added on top for extra customize-ability.
DBM. Tried BigWigs but I like the simplicity of DBM. It just works.
WeakAuras. This is just a godsend.
Angry Assignments.
Details. Precise, simple, elegant.
Exorsus Raid Tools. For anything from inspecting people to checking attendance and cooldown timer.
RCLootCouncil but available to swap to anything else depending on what is used, been using EPGP before.

And then as I said a lot of QoL addons that doesn't benefit in raids.
I don't have a screenshot available but I do have a clip of our Krosus kill located here if you really want a screenshot I'll go run something and provide.

Other Games:

Currently I'm playing FFXIV with friends, it's a lot less time demanding than WoW and just pure fun. I also try to work my Steam library down... And as I you could see earlier.... That's never happening. I'm in love with the Metal Gear series and I'm super excited about Death Stranding.

For genres I'm usually ok with anything that isn't the survival genre, especially zombies and survival. Looking at you H1Z1, ARK, PUBG, etc, etc, etc, etc... That list is getting out of hand these days. Oh and puzzles. The types of puzzles found in games like Tomb Raider and Uncharted is more than fine, but a pure puzzle game I just... My brain is not strong enough.

Why Iron Edge?

I want to continue raiding. I like where the expansion is at the moment, apart from the endless feeling of needing to run old content/m+ for upgrades. I've also raided with Vivi and Shimmar before and Mimfoe mentioned he was applying, whom I know on a more personal level.

There also seems to be this fantastic social aspect of this guild which is always wonderful.

What can I offer Iron Edge?

A dedicated raider that does fuck up (I'm not gonna lie and no one is perfect) but always learns from my mistakes and always try to better myself.

Apart from my attitude I'm always willing to help out, be that crafting stuff, running dungeons, or grinding mats.

Where did I hear about Iron Edge?

Like I mentioned Mimfoe said he was going to apply when Halcyon died. I looked it up and I liked the look of it.

Last Words?

Please do it quick... Wait, you're not killing me? Oh.

Well then, not much. Apart from that pooper being adorable and I'd like to smush his/her cheeks.

If there's anything you'd like to ask or discussion feel free to. I'm happy to answer anything, especially if I glossed something over or just plain missed something.

Nice application Viktor,

Like mimfoes apply another great effort in the apply. Could you provide some logs for the officers to go through with a fine tooth comb? Other than that good luck on the apply!

Regards

Vejeta

Thank you. Well I did reply with the Wlogs character page but here goes:
Krosus Mythic for a straight up hit the dummy fight.
And Gul'Dan Heroic fairly recent on a fight with a lot more movement.

Hey Vox!

Pretty good app, I'll make sure our ranged officer takes a look at it and decides before the end of the day.

Hiyo Vox,

Very good application, I would love to give you a trial for the raid and see how you fare against our own resident warlocks!

Feel free to poke me or any other officer ingame for an invite  :D
