Social Application - Warlock (DPS) - wushka
« on: March 11, 2019, 03:15:04 pm »
Hello, Iron Edge!

I am applying to be a social member.

Character: wushka
Armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/Kazzak/wushka/advanced
Class/Spec: Warlock (DPS)
Member Type: Social

Personal Info:

Looking to join the ToT(R) group, thought i'd lead with that.

I prefer to stay somewhat anonymous online, so i go by my handle; Wushka
Down the road when i get to know people, that may change, but i have long running online friendships that have spilled into RL, and most of those still call me Wush so... i hope that's not a deal breaker.
I'm 31, work as a software developer for a mid size company in Denmark.

Class/Spec:

I've been devoted to Destro ever since blizz ruined Demo post MoP; I've played Affli whenever it's been completely OP/broken, but i always seem to find a synergy with destro, performing best with it.
Big numbers are fun^^

Alts:

Oh boy... kind of an altoholic.
Thathy is my mage, when i burn out on lock i usually play that, gear it up.
Then i have a host of crafting/gathering alts, Daringchild being the main one for my alchemy needs.

I also have an Alliance Paladin on Darkspear, just to keep up to speed with PvE content from the alliance perspective. Spending some time there these days.

Professions:

Enchanting and Tailor, nothing special afaik.
I try to get as many recipes as possible, so there might be something special in there that i don't realize.

Raiding/PVP Experience:

I started playing in late BC, cleared BT and got Kalecgos post nerf.
Cleared all content i Wotlk on 25man, Yoggsaron +2, didn't do +1 and +0 while they where current, got a few tribute runs in ToC, never got the no death one.
Cata was hectic, alot of Guild hoping, content cleared but not on heroic level. Nothing noteworthy happened there, except me learning to prepot.
MoP is where i went Alliance, joined a somewhat high end guild (The Enigma Order), content cleared, but didn't get Garrosh until Heroic was called Mythic.
WoD i went 100% casual, went back to horde and joined my now GFs guild on a dead realm, mainly PUG raided, still got content cleared and stacked the ring to max level.
Legion: still 100% casual, started using openraid and started running with the same PUGs every week. Can't remember if i got HC content cleared, but it was a very enjoyable time.
BFA: Tried to get back into organized raiding, joined some promising "2 a week" guilds
"Wipe Till Dawn" (fell apart due to personal issues in the core)
"Basement Dwellers" (2 x raidleader burnout)
So i'm currently at 4/9 mythic, not really looking to push that, as i'm pretty burnt out with mythic raiding atm. myself.

Previous Guilds:

Only guilds i find relevant to mention are the two above. Both have been thoroughly enjoyable to be with, and i'm sad to see them fall apart, but c'est la vie.

Availability:

I work weekdays and is usually home around 5.
I (usually) train Kickboxing on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so i'm home late those days.
Family life takes up a lot of my spare time, so i can't really be relied on for weekend stuff.

Communication:

TS3, thought everyone and their mother used Discord these days, but guess i'll reinstall if it's needed^^
I feel like i communicate well in English, it's pretty much my first language at this point.

Computer / Connection:

i7 7700K@4.7GhZ, 16GB@2666MhZ, GTX 1080 TI, 165hz G-Sync monitor, 100/100Mbit Fiber connection, and a complete nerd at the reins.
big checks on all fronts.

Addons/UI:

BigWigs, AngryAssignments, WeakAuras2, aka. the gold standard
UI: ElvUI with Nots WA (https://wago.io/Vyx12GkVZ).
I'm at work atm, but i'll add a screenshot to the forum thread when i get home.

Other Games:

Apex is pretty good right now.
Recently gotten back into Borderlands (2 and pre-sequel).
Gonna dive into Witcher 3 again soon as i haven't finished it yet.
The Pokemon and Final Fantasy series never gets old imo.. and both are getting new installments this year (yay)

I play a lot of games is all i'm saying ^^

Why Iron Edge?

I've only read about you guys on WoW-progress, and looked at stats, from the outside you look like a place where there's room for all sorts, and you seem like an active guild not only focused on one aspect of the game.
I'm currently not sure of how i want to play WoW in this expansion, and it seems that no matter which play style i end up with, there's a group in your guild i'd fit in with.

What can I offer Iron Edge?

Fairly skilled and knowledgeable player.
A team player, as in; share the loot, put it where it matters most.

Where did I hear about Iron Edge?

Wowprogress

Last Words?

I'll seem timid at first, but when i start feeling comfortable i'll make more notice of myself.

Almost, PG279Q here. Great application, let's see if Kodin and co can get in here and ask some more relevant questions than queries about screens.

Good luck!

Hi Wushka,

Thanks for your interest in the tot raid,

Just to be clear on some things the tot raid takes place on Wednesdays 20:30 - 23:30 server time, and are currently progressing through heroic, we are mostly a bunch of old school raiders who have accepted that real life wants to interfere with our video game time so we're quite a flexible and understanding bunch

From reading your app you'd be a asset to tot, my only concern is that in bfa you've been mythic raiding previously, are you prepared and comftable with joining a team that's progressing through heroic?

What are you looking for from raiding? You mention your burnt out from mythic raiding

Best of luck

Kodin

I don't know if it's a symptom of the newer era of WoW, the younger generation getting into raiding, or something else, but the sense of entitlement and "i know how you should play" attitude is an increasing trend in the game, more so in the high end raiding scene (and M+). or maybe i'm just an old fart that's started noticing it more.
I'm pretty tired of (people with) that attitude, and on the bleeding edge, there will almost always be people like that, combine that with me not being able to be picky with raid teams... it's tiresome^^

The Openraid groups i ran with steadily were all less progressed than myself when i joined them, i have no problem re-progressing as long as the group is comfortable; and it's always fun being the big fish in the small bowl^^
I do expect to get to a farm level (clear the raid in one night) of play with the group at some point in any given tier, but i'm more than happy staying in HC; the mindset of players tend to be more relaxed, and you're never forced to sit people.

ToT fits the type of player looking to progress in a social atmosphere and understanding that from that skill levels can be on various levels. We get curved threw our 3h a week but don't go beyond that. We do have some more hardcore players like myself doing more min/maxing and filling their wow needs with alt/m+ besides raiding. We are demanding commitment but very understanding if you can't have attendance for a period of time. As a bonus you get my great dad jokes....at least I laugh

Well, who can't appreciate a good dad joke ^^

I'm guilty of spending way to much time in tools like raidbot myself, but in the end blizzy has made stats so meaningless for my spec, that it's honestly quite the waste.. good fun though :D

Kodin, give him a spot and we will see how it pans out. And as a sidenote, you think you are old at 31 playing wow, in our raid you are going to bee one of the younger ones.

They are very rarely _good_ dad jokes, you're warned.
