Watchmen.

By far the best comic book film imo, far superior to "V for Vendetta" and one of my favourite films. I had never read the comic book for Watchmen and the 1st version i seen was the Ultimate. So the initial impact was massive.

A film shot beautifully by the same guy that done "300", it's casted superbly. It has no stars, no un-nessesary action scenes, no gimmiks. This is not Ironman, this is dark, brutal, grousome, and most of all, intellegent. The story is extremely deep, with every charactor having a different morale compass and different beliefs.

I understand people who have read the comic or graphic novel, prolly this film wont have the same initial impact. But sure as hell the comic would have had, when they read it. One of, if not the finest story ever written.

LOTR is the same, awesome story, awesome depth, but i suppose everyone seen this.

I agree with Delling on Big Fish, that made an impact on me too.

Memento.

This film is shot superbly, very engaging concept, one of the least conventional films ever made. Its about a man with short term memory loss and the story is good. But the true winner is the way the story is laid out infront of the viewer, each scene revealing more about the last.

Didn't notice it mentioned

True Romance : Quentin Tarintino' first movie iirc he wrote it anyways.

Awesome story line. And the scene with Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken involving a chair. Probably my favourite movie scene ever.

Hey guys, I've devoted a lot of time watching films and put in a degree of effort composing a list of sick films i've seen that i passed onto my friend who wanted to know a load of films he should download over a summer holiday. I just found it again so I'm gonna dump it here!
Some have been said (and rightly so!) but i think eventually all of these would make this list :D

chucked some feature-length documentaries in at the end too :)

scarface
the deer hunter
das boot
full metal jacket (kubrick)
a clockwork orange (kubrick)
2001: a space odyssey (kubrick again)
blow
network
cicade de deus (city of god)
lock, stock and two smoking barrels
no country for old men (coen brothers)
the big lebowski (coen brothers)
burn after reading (coen brothers)
good will hunting
the truman show
godfather trilogy
milk
mean streets (scorsese film)
taxi driver (scorsese film)
casino (scorsese film)
goodfellas (scorsese film)
the king of comedy (scorsese film)
living in oblivion
requiem for a dream
dog day afternoon (my favourite film!!!!!!)

some brilliant documentaries i have seen:-

black tar heroin (documentary - watch after requiem for a dream to truly appreciate, this documentary is seriously heavy shit btw)
hoop dreams (widely regarded as the best documentary of all time)
man on wire (inspiring)
the thin blue line (outstanding)
sicko (moore documentary)
bowling for columbine (moore documentary)

ahhh man, they would be in there, but i left them out because the friend i made the list for had seen them already.. another film i'd want on there would be donnie brasco too.
but yeah they are definitely up there. i mean, shawshank is IMDB's highest rated film!

both brilliant films.
dont have an avatar lol, gonna put one up now
