Auto resize images
« on: May 09, 2010, 05:01:35 pm »
I was wondering if it's possible to add a function that automatically resizes images that are bigger than x (width) pixels? I've seen it on a lot of different forums. Here for example:
http://elitistjerks.com/f78/t51063-rogue_ui_your_silent_partner/p20/#post1568200

At the moment I am resizing them manually ([ img width=500] and adding a [ url] tag), but this function would save some trouble, and make the site smoother overall.

I've been looking for that function in particular, but haven't been able to find it.

No more sidescrolling pictures please!

The css property max-width should do.

Yar, you want thumbnails generated on the server... and click for full-size...

I hate side-scrolling shit too.

Will investigate.

Hm... it's working. But the bar above -- 'click to show full-size' -- isn't appearing. Not sure why.

You can right click image -> view/copy source tho'.

The author could always make the image a direct link to the image location if he's bothered about people seeing it in high res. I vote for this change.

Testing Earthquake's pic

SWEET! But would be nice to have option to show fullsize without having to open it in a new tab/window. Surely that "click here for full size"-bar is a well-known script/function, as I see it pretty much everywhere. I think dunemaul.org had it as well.

Edit: Another one

Edit 2: Is it possible that, if we find and implement that "click here for full size"-bar, that the forum's own width is increased to compensate for the increased image width? So that sidescrolling won't be needed inside the particular post, but rather the whole browser window instead? Hope you understand what I mean.

Better if you just click the text link in that case -- think it opens in a new tab.
