Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
« on: December 01, 2010, 05:20:44 pm »
Less than a week before Cataclysm - quick, time to play some other awesome games:

Highly recommended if you're looking for an action adventure. Kinda God of War, without Gods, but Vampires.

- awesome graphics (which sometimes kill the framerate being so overambitious, but never during battle) and music
- tons of enemies: lycantropes, vampires, goblins, bats, imps, skeletons, spiders, possessed armors, ghouls, headless zombies, ghosts, bosses, subbosses, megabosses, titan bosses (think Shadow of the Colossus) etc... all with their unique abilities/attack patterns. None of that "lol our game has 3 enemy models" crap
- your typical collect XP orb combat upgrade system
- it's a long game, comes on 2 DVDs. Reviews say 15-20h which sounds reasonable. I'm playing it on/off for ~2 weeks now and I'm only 3/4 done.
- narrative introduction to every level by Captain Picard. And he's doing proper voice work, none of that Halo or BlackOps bullshit babbling
- starts a bit slow/"okayish" but gets better and better

Even more astonishing as the developer Mercury Steam did only "meh" games before.

Anyone else played it?

it's on my to do list before january

some people complain that it took over some God Of War elements but i think those people are forgetting that castlevania fucking more or less introduced the entire genre

Saying a game sucks because it's a copy/inspired of some other game is stupid anyway. Would just sucks if its a crappy copy.
