Hello, Iron Edge!
I am applying for the main raid.
Character: Shagoroth
Armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/Kazzak/Shagoroth/advancedClass/Spec: Death Knight (DPS)
Member Type: raider
Personal Info:Greetings creatures of various origines.
My name is Laurens and I'm from the beautiful country Belgium. Yes, I'm made from chocolate and I'm filled with beer.
I'm 24 years young and studying law.
Been playing WoW since June 2006 and still going strong trying to increase my internet penis' size.
Class/Spec:I'm currently playing Frost DW spec but looking to switch back to UH spec in the very near future.
Frost DW is best for priority target burst but lately UH is taking over with the Breath of Sindragosa talent in combination with the legendary ring.
I consider both specs main spec as I can play both without any problem.
My prefered spec is Unholy though. But this doesn't affect my performance with my Frost output.
My iLvL in Frost gear is 712 and in UH gear is 711.
Things I'm mostly missing is the right tier off piece and trinkets.
Apart from that it's all Gucci.
Frost (DW) - Since 6.2 the best performing spec when it comes to priority target burst. Even with all the various nerfs we got during the first week of the patch because Blizzard doesn't know what to do with logs from PTR servers. +1 Blizzard
Most important is to not waste procs. We use our Killing Machine proc on Frost Strike (preferably not on Obliterate) causing it to automatically crit.
2nd proc we use is Rime. This has a 45% chance to not consume runes on Howling Blast and thus awarding a free HB.
Since 6.2 Howling Blast does 100% damage to all targets within 10 yards.
Paired with the tier 18 Frost 4set bonus this means we want to try to pool our Runic Power and use it on Frost Strike when we have a Killing Machine proc. Tier 18 4-set gives us a 65% chance to not consume our Killing Machine proc, meaning if the RNG Gods allow it we can spam critting Frost Strike hits.
Our only real offensive cooldown is Pillar of Frost offering us small bursts of damage. This is a 1 minute CD which increases our strength by 15% for 20 seconds.
We use Death and Decay when we have 3 or more targets who stand in it for the most of it's duration. Blood Boil to spread dots to targets that are up for a decent amount of time.
Currently the best talent combination (on most fights) is Plague Leech+Defile when you have the Empty Drinking Horn trinket from Mannoroth.
Unholy - Since the implementation of the legendary ring UH is starting to take over when used with Breath of Sindragosa since it offers the biggest burst which is the most important aspect when using the ring's effect. The higher the ring's iLvL, the stronger UH will become. We'll be using BoS on ST and 2 target cleave and Necrotic Plague on multi-target fights like for example Mythic Gorefiend, Mythic Iskar, Mythic Xhul'horac, Mythic Mannoroth etc.
Opener using Breath of Sindragosa talent:
- Army of the Death at 5-6 seconds pull timer
- Pre-pot at 1 second
- Death's advance to get faster to the boss
- Gargoyle
- Outbreak
- Festering Strike
- Scourge Strike
- Festering Strike
- Scourge Strike
- Plague Leech
- Plague Strike
- Breath of Sindragosa (+Maiden's trinket)
- Scourge Strike x3
- Empower Rune Weapon
- Festering Strike
- Scourge Strike
- Dark Transformation?
- Festering Strike
- Scourge Strike
Rotation using Necrotic Plague talent (when dealing with multiple targets):
- Army of the Death at 5-6 seconds pull timer
- Pre-pot at 1 second
- Death's advance to get faster to the boss
- Gargoyle (+Maiden's trinket) while running (However keep it until you have 5 stacks of Dark Transformation if you have tier 18 4-set bonus. The buff applies to both your ghoul and your gargoyle)
- Unholy Blight (Applies 15 Necrotic Plague stacks in 10 seconds)
- Outbreak (Immediately adds 1 extra stack of Necrotic Plague, speeds up the stack gaining and thus the dps output)
- Festering Strike (Extends the duration of the diseases by 6 seconds)
- Scourge Strike
- Festering Strike
- Scourge Strike
- etc.
- Soul Reaper when target is about to go below 45% within 5 seconds (our execute). Don't use it when a target will die before the 5 second timer is finished. It would be a wasted rune which could have been used on an ability that deals more damage.
When the CD of Unholy Blight is balanced to the duration of Necrotic Plague you let it run out and focus on doing more Scourge Strikes (hits harder) instead of extending the dot to a longer duration.
As soon as the Necrotic Plague dot runs out you use Unholy Blight again to reapply together with Outbreak for an extra free stack and start extending it again. Rinse and repeat.
Use Sudden Doom procs as soon as possible (free Death Coil), also use Death Coils to get 5 stacks of Dark Transformation to buff ghoul's damage. If you have the tier 18 4-set bonus you want to use this in alignment with the Gargoyle since the buff it provides also applies to it.
We only use Army at pull since it got nerfed a lot in 6.0. Barely consider it a cooldown at this point. It's more a cosmetic flavour spell.
When AoE'ing we use Blood Boil which does damage to the surrounding mobs and also spreads our dots since it got combined with Pestilence in 6.0.
Death and Decay on +3 targets (of course if they stand in it for the majority of it's duration).
Talents
Level 56
Frost - Plague Leech to generate 2 Death runes (can be used for any kind of rune), no matter which level 100 talent is chosen.
Unholy - Plague Leech in combination of Defile/Breath of Sindragosa. Unholy Blight if using Necrotic Plague for fast dot stacking.
Level 57
Anti-Magic Zone - Helps reduce the magic damage taken to the raid by 20% for 3 seconds.
Purgatory (if AMZ isn't needed) - This prevents us from dying to an ability every 3 minutes. However, we need to be healed up to actually survive the blow we suffered that got us this close to death as it shrouds us with a healing absorb debuff equal to the damage we received. Good time to use our level 75 talent (Death Pact).
Level 58
Death's Advance - The oh so great DK speed boost. Increases our speed passively by 10% and adds an extra 30% on use for 6 seconds. Also lowers the effect of movement-impairing spells passively by 70% and actively by 100%.
Chilblains - Our Frost Fever and Necrotic Plague dot will reduce the movement speed of targets by 50% for 10 seconds. Also makes it so our Chains of Ice prevents targets from moving for 3 seconds.
Asphyxiate - Will replace Strangulate and stun the target for 5 seconds. If the target would be immune to stuns it'll silence it instead.
Level 60
Here my personal choice of talent is Blood Tap. For each 15 Runic Power spend we gain a stack. When we reach at least 5 stacks we can use these to regenerate one of our depleted runes as a Death rune (can be used for any kind of rune). It's considered the best choice in this talent row.
However, since 6.0 they all are very close to each other so it doesn't matter too much. I personally find Blood Tap a better choice since it offers more control. For the more lazy people Runic Corruption is the 2nd best choice.
Level 75
Death Pact - The 'OH SHIT'-button. Default chosen talent here as it gives us the option to heal ourself by 50% of our HP. Other choices in this row aren't that impressive.
Level 90
Gorefiend's Grasp - AoE-grip that grips all targets within 20 yards to the selected target (can be ourself, a friendly target or hostile target).
Remorseless Winter - AoE-stun. Adds stacks to targets within 8 yards for a duration of 8 seconds. Each stack slow the target by 15%. Upon gaining 5 stacks the targets are frozen in place for 6 seconds.
Desecrated Ground - Gives us immunity against roots, snares and other effects that cause loss of control for 10 seconds. More used in PvP than PvE.
Level 100
Necrotic Plague - Used when the fight has multiple adds (or constant moving where targets don't stand long enough in Defile). Max damage at 15 stacks. Stacks get applied every 2 seconds or by Unholy Blight (1 each second), Outbreak and Howling Blast. Also spreads automatically to targets within 8 yards. As Unholy you want to keep this diseases at 15 stacks by extending it with Festering Strike (adds 6 seconds per hit) until the cooldown of Unholy Blight resets. As Frost you remove this disease in return for a Death rune by using Plague Leech on cooldown.
Defile - Used when the encounter mostly requires single target dps (or if the adds aren't up long to take enough damage from Necrotic Plague). Targets needs to stand in it for the most of the ticks to be effective. Default choice on most fights when playing Frost with Empty Drinking Horn.
Breath of Sindragosa - High burst 2-min CD. Costs 15 runic power per second so requires RP-pooling before usage and building up more RP after it's been used to keep it going for as long as possible. AMS soaking is very important when playing with this talent as it gives free runic power. Used as Unholy, not as Frost since it doesn't work mechanically seeing Frost Strike is one of our most important attacks and also uses runic power.
Works amazing in combination with the legendary ring since they have the same length of cooldown. Considered top dps especially the more you upgrade your ring.
Glyphs (most used)
Major
Glyph of Blood Boil - Increases the yards of Blood Boil by 5.
Glyph of Regenerative Magic - Reduces the cooldown of AMS based on magic damage taken.
Glyph of Raise Ally - Removes the cost of our battle ress.
Glyph of Icebound Fortitude - Used when we need a DR CD more often or want to break stuns often.
Minor
Glyph of Army of the Dead - Removes the taunt effect from our Army of Misfits.
Glyph of Tranquil Grip - Removes the taunt effect from our Death Grip. Comes in handy when you want to stack adds up or grip them away from certain things/locations.
Stat priority
Frost (DW)
- Mastery > Haste = Multistrike = Versatility > Critical Strike
Unholy
- ST (Plague Leech + Breath of Sindragosa talents) - Multistrike > Critical Strike > Versatility > Mastery > Haste
- AoE (Unholy Blight + Necrotic Plague talents) - Multistrike > Mastery > Versatility > Critical Strike > Haste
Alts:Only alt I'm currently playing from time to time is my MW monk
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/kazzak/Ayrie/advancedLeveling my hunter alt (level 93) as well at the moment but taking my time
Professions:The professions I'm using are Jewelcrafting and Enchanting.
I chose this combination so I would be able to gem/enchant my gear on the fly without losing time or getting a 2nd party involved.
Cool/special recipes? Maybe WotLK gem recipes, not sure if this specifies under 'cool' but seeing how some people pay crazy amounts for them I guess it's pretty 'cool'. Am I a coolboy? Please say yes.
Raiding Experience:WotlK
- Full 25m Naxxramas
- Sarth+3drakes
- 10m+25m Malygos
- Full Ulduar except for Yogg (10m relaxed raiding mostly back then)
- Full Trial of the Crusader
- 11/12 ICC + some HC bosses but sadly forgot which ones (I'm getting old

) Shortly after getting to LK I took a break until MoP.
Cata
- Break from the game, lost interest in it and was focusing more on studies/student life.
MoP
- 5/6 HC MSV
- 2/6 HC HoF
- 4/4 normal ToeS+Protectors on Hardmode
- 10/13 HC ToT.
- 14/14 HC SoO 10+25 (pre-6.0) + Mythic. This was done in the guild House of Pride in which I was officer. RIP House of Pride 2013-2015.
Could have had better progress during MSV, HoF, ToeS and ToT but the guild I was in (and later also became officer in) went through a faction change (Grim Batol Horde > Alliance) and 3 months later also a server transfer because Grim Batol was just a dying server and made it very hard finding suitable players.
WoD
- 7/7 Mythic HM
- 8/10 Mythic BRF
- 1/13 Mythic HFC
- 13/13 HC HFC
Played DK as main since I started raiding. Also played resto/balance druid and holy priest alt during ICC on some progress runs.
Previous Guilds:Previous guild was Intent. Sadly the atmosphere changed and members started leaving.
This combined with the raid leader having less time to raid due to his job, they decided to move to a Wednesday-only raiding schedule. Because of these reasons Xevrelia and me decided to leave them so our progress wouldn't be on hold for too long.
Availability:Currently have summer holiday until mid-September. But raiding shouldn't be much of a problem when school starts again. So no worries there. Rarely missed a raid the last few years.
Communication:I hablar very bueno Americano, si si.
I am in possession of both TeamSpeak and a working microphone and am able to use them in combination of each other.
I also have the ability to talk, which is quite handy, and will do so when needed.
Computer / Connection:I'm playing on a Dell XPS 17 laptop.
GeForce GT555M
i7-2630QM 2.00GHz
6 GB RAM
Rarely have problems running WoW with this laptop, but I'm on the look out to buy something new later this year.
My internet connection and ping to Kazzak are also very stable.
