Batman : Arkham Asylum
« on: August 31, 2009, 01:00:47 pm »
Hot shit. Get it!

Action adventure/brawler mix. Very highly polished: Gfx based on Unreal engine (detailed environment, top notch animations, great setting), sfx (characters are almost constantly talking to you, interactive music), flawless UI (amagad a useable automap!), great mix of gameplay elements (new stuff continuously introduced). No loading times. Lots of secret stuff to find.

Combat is basically simple but works well: attack, parry, stun. But you get a lot of gimmick items and need to do some stealth attacks against more powerful armed enemies (melee ones are just cannon fodder).

Some gameplay near the beginning

and some stealth stuff

Polished games like this really show what a piece of crap stuff like Fable 2 is with it's loading times, idiotic laggy user interface and tons of useless overburdened crap.

this one keep getting good reviews! ive soon played through all "old" ps3 games that interest me (fallout, oblivion, bioshock, gta, dead space). might give this one a go if i run out before dragon age is released.

I loved the stealthy gameplay but the first video, the fighting looks laboured and slugish and reminds me of True Crime: Streets of LA

I never try to finish games nowadays. Just play through the story, and stop.

Last game I pixel-hunted on was Donkey Kong Country I think...

Once u get the crpytographic thingymagic, then they become really easy.  You just get the secrets maps (which are pretty easy to find) and then ur set.
