its probably around 100-200 Hz unless its a professional product. High-end equipments varies around 20-80 Hz

Yeah I wanted to do that!
But the power goes into the woofer, and then from the woofer the two speakers (its a 2.1) are plugged in. So I probably have to open it up and cut a wire or something   :'(

Or mute vorte.  Not sure about your setup, but my sub has a separate volume control.  Maybe you've turned it up?

The wiring you describe is usually consists of a Preamp and a microfilter seperating higher frequencies to satellite speakers and direct line to the woofer.
I assume you are using it for a fair amounth of time which would lead the capacitors used at the filter to loose rigidity. In that case filter doesnt work properly and woofer converts higher frequencies too.

It's not easy to fix unless u r easy with soldering and basic electronics.

can mute him, but then I miss out on the fun :(
and its obviously not only vorte when I have this problem :P, when playing music the same shit happens.

Suppose I can't fix it if its complicated, it has no separate volume control

Does your system have 2 wires plugged into your pc?  If so, just unplug the subwoofer one :P
