Dota 2

It's on!
http://www.dota2.com/

Personally I think that Heroes of Newerth is pretty good, but I believe that this will be even better! Big fan of IceFrog!

Quote from: www.dota2.com
Q: Can you spectate an already ongoing DotA 2 game? (by Valo)
A: A lot of the game will be built around spectating and shoutcasting support. You will be able to join most ongoing games (unless the players marked it as private) and just watch them. You can join a game your friend is in, see what your favorite clan is doing, or simply pick a skill level and a hero you like and it will find you one to watch. (...)
This I really like! I hate it when I log into hon just when a game have started, I think spectating can be a lot of fun. And most games doesn't even use the spectate function.

Q: Will you keep loyal to casting times like Torrent and will it still be possible to do the advanced tricks, like animation canceling, fog of war tricks we?ve learned, etc? (by Lycan)
A: Yes, those mechanics are implemented. They are a very integral part of the game and it wouldn?t feel the same without them.
Damn straight

Quote from: www.dota2.com
Q: Is there reconnect support for DotA 2? (by Vanes-UT)
A: This was actually one of the very first things we added early on, before the game was stable, in order to help with testing. You?ll also be able to have a friend of similar skill level substitute for you in case you have to leave. Players that want to improve their reputation in the game and community will also be able to help out by joining ongoing games that are missing players.
Pure awesome!

And much more on their website!

So, what do you think?

Havent played hon since beta, but playing LOL atm. Definetely going to swap to dota2 when it pops up and hopefully will get access to beta. Felt like hon and lol has been missing just something from the original one, hopefully icefrog will have that fixed!

I agree with Sparrowhawk there. HoN and LoL both have something. But they're not quite dota. Dota 1.0 (if we can call it that now) has been epic, but it's just too old now.

I'm excited to see how it turns out. Especially the spectator part, just grabbing food/drinks and start watching games. Quite fun ;d Might turn out to be a proper e-sport as well!

I've enjoyed HoN a lot more than DoTA. It's really progressed into a stupendous game.

I'll be keeping an eye on DOTA2 though. Could be very interesting, and the added support for replacing leavers and whatnot is very welcome.

And Sparrow, playing LoL? I thought I knew you man.

I would still prefer to be playing dota if it wasnt for it being a warcraft 3 mod and all the limitations of the old battle.net, disconnects, maphack etc.

Really looking forward to DOTA 2!

Bears like alts!

Prefer as in... over the current two, HoN and LoL? I wasn't aware you played either :X

WEll in my opinion HON is just improved version of DOTA .Except one important thingie which I dislike in HON that there is no 20% magic ressistance passive heroes have like in DOTA . Which makes caster OooPee. So i choose Dota  :)

If you play enough HoN you will realise that casters need to be more OP in the beginning since melee or carry in general will kick their butts later in the game. It all comes down to how you play it though. It's not really fair to say that "this or that" hero is OP, sure it may be a counter to many heroes but this "OP tag" will disappear as the game length grows. Or the other way around.

actually... I feel the carries are way too fucking strong in hon, and some strength gankers too.
Trolls are awesome!
